"Awww, OK," Athena said, smiling and hugging the girl. "It's OK, you don't have to. We'll work on that." She handed the money to the woman behind the counter, who put it in the register as it magically opened. "Thank you!" Athena said to the woman.
She took Coda by the hand and led her out of the store and down the street. "There's a very nice clothes store just over this way," she said.

Athena led Coda over to another store, this one brightly lit and colorful. Luckily, it didn't seem to be crowded, so she opened the door and led Coda inside. "OK," she said. "Let's look around and see what you like."

Coda looked around but didn't leave Athena's side, there might not have been many people but she still didn't want to leave her side. She looked up at Athena, "Can you pick something out for me? I don't see anthing I really like... plus I don't know much about human clothes."

Athena nodded. "Of course. Would you like a dress, or would you want to try wearing pants?" She walked over to a display of pretty dresses with tiny pink and blue flowers on them.

"I want dresses but I want to try other clothes too." Coda held onto Athena's hand tightly, she was worried that someone might be like that mean man the other wolves warned her about.

Athena nodded. "OK, we can do that," she said. "There are some nice pants and jeans over there. We can look at them after we've tried some dresses." She knelt down on the floor and looked at Coda with a smile. "Do you want to pick out a few dresses to try on, or do you want me to do it?"

"I want you to." Coda said quietly, "I don't really know about what to look for... I mean I know there are different sizes..." She felt like an outsider in the human world, she didn't feel like she did at her human home or wolf home.

"Tell you what," Athena said, smiling affectionately. "I'll worry about the sizes, but you can tell me which colors and patterns you like best. How does that sound? I want you to find the ones you like."

"I like flowers." Coda said. "And I like blue." She looked at a blue dress that had pink flowers. "I like that one." She said pointing.

"OK, good," Athena said. She walked over to the rack where the dress was hanging and began looking through the hangers until she found what she thought would be the right size. Just to be sure, however, she grabbed the next largest size as well. "OK, let's try these to start. Come on, I'll take you to the dressing room."

Coda took her hand then looked up at her in confusion, "What's a 'dressing room'?" She didn't understand what it meant, she didn't know alot about humans words and meanings and ways. She was still getting use to the words and food.

Athena smiled; she had so much to learn. Even things that seemed ordinary to her were strange to Coda. It would be fun to watch her grow and learn about the human world. She only hoped that the girl would be able to get used to this world, and not feel torn between her home with the wolves and her home here. Hopefully, Zander and Pearl could help teach her that.
"A dressing room is where you go to try on clothes, so that you don't have to do it in front of everyone," Athena explained.

Athena picked out a couple of other cute dresses in Coda's side, then took her hand and led her into the dressing room. "OK," she said, pointing at one of the dressing room stalls. "All you have to do is go in there and change into this dress. Do you want me to come in with you, or can you do it yourself?"

"I want you to come with me... it is my first time in one... and I don't want to be alone..." Coda said looking at the floor, she was scared that Goss would come after her again. She knew he doesn't go near humans but she could never tell, not after him attacking her.

"Of course," Athena replied immediately. She had expected that reaction and was not surprised by it. Since everything was so new to Coda, it made sense that she wouldn't want to be alone and out of sight from her only connection.
She pushed the door open and held it for Coda. "Step inside. See? It's not too scary in here, is it?"

Coda walked in to the dressing room, she looked around and saw a girl that looked just like her. She didn't know that it was only her reflection, though she did notice that the girl did everything she did. She looked at the girl confused, then she looked up at Athena and asked, "Why is she in there?"

Athena bit back a laugh. "That's you, Coda. It's your reflection. See, that glass bounces back an image of yourself, so you know what you look like. It's called a mirror." She walked in front of the mirror, so that her own relfection would show. "See? There's a woman who looks just like me. Go ahead, touch the glass, ad you'll see."

Coda slowly touched the glass, it felt smooth and a little cold. "Why do humans need these?" She asked as she turned from the mirror. She thought that thing was really strange, she didn't think she needed to have to see herself.
