Athena smiled. Coda was so innocent, and everything was new to her. "Toys... they're things you can play with. Just for fun. Dolls are like little miniature people, and you can dress them up and brush their hair and pretend with them." She had an idea suddenly. "Maybe you'd like a toy wolf? To remind you of your old family? You can cuddle up with it while you sleep."

"Yeah, I'd love one, I do miss being surrounded by them of a night." Coda said smiling. "I don't know how to pretend, all I ever did when I played with the wolves was wrestle and tag."

Athena found it a little sad that Coda had never learned to play, if only because it was a sign of how the girl had been forced to grow up too quickly. But she smiled. "Well, maybe you'll learn. Or not. It's not that important. A lot of kids don't really play make-believe. I don't think Natalie ever plays," she added. "But the toy wolf will be nice. I'm sure we'll be able to find one."

"Do you think I might find one that looks like Tis?" Coda asked, Tis was like an older brother to her and she missed him the most.

"You might," Athena said with a smile. "We'll have to look around and see what we can find." As she was talking, the waitress walked over to the table, carrying a platter. She placed Coda's sandwich in front of her, then gave Athena her order. Athena thanked her, then nodded at Coda. "This is really easy to eat," she told her. "Just pick it up and take a bite, like this." She demonstrated for her.

Coda watched her then picked up her own sandwhich then took a bite. After swallowing she smiled, "It's really good." She took another bite.

Athena smiled. "Good. I knew you would like it." She ate a little of her own sandwich, then said, "We can probably head to the bookstore, too, and see if we can find some books so I can teach you to read." In the back of her mind, she found herself wondering how Alastor was doing, and what the doctor had to say. But she didn't want Coda to worry about him, especially since she was sure he was going to be fine.

"Ok." Coda said smiling, she took another bite, she felt happy being with Athena and Alastor. She felt like they were her family, her real family, but no matter how she felt about them she would always miss the wolves.

Athena felt a warmth in her heart as she saw Coda smiling. The poor girl had been through so much in her life already and she was glad that she was finally able to give her a home where she could be safe and loved. And Athena had always wanted a daughter. Now she finally had one. She finished the rest of her sandwich without saying anything else, then waited for Coda to finish hers.

Coda took a little longer to finish her sandwhich, she looked up at Athena as she swallowed her last bite.

Athena gave Coda another smile. "Well, would you like anything else before we go? They have dessert... sweet stuff. Have you ever had sweets before?"

"No, I haven't." Coda said. "But I couldn't eat anything else."

"OK," Athena said with a smile. "That's good. I imagine you're not used to eating a lot of food, anyway. We'll try some sweets some other time, OK?" She looked around and spotted their waitress near the kitchen. She waved her hand to call the waitress over, then asked for the check. The waitress handed her the bill, and Athena took out a few galleons and set them on the table. "OK," she said to Coda at last. "Let's go on and do some shopping!"

"Ok." Coda smiled and stood up. She looked down at the strange coins, all she thought was that they were shiny. She tilted her head to the side looking at the strange coins in an intrested manner.

Athena noticed that Coda was looking at the coins. "Oh, this is money," she said. She took a galleon out of her pocket and placed it in Coda's hand. "People use them to pay for things... like we just paid for our lunch. And we'll use more when we buy you clothes and things. Would you like to hold on to that one?"

Coda looked at the coin in her hand then up at Athena. "Yes, I would." She said smiling and closing her hand on the coin, the dress had no pockets so she would have to hold it in her hand.

"Good," Athena replied with a smile. "Maybe we can set up an allowance for you, where you can get your own money each week, and you can go to spend it on your own." She opened the door for Coda. "But for now, what do you want to do first? Do you want to get clothes first? Or shoes?"

"Um... shoes if you don't mind." Coda said looking at her bare feet. She was use to being barefoot but she felt embarrassed to be around so many humans barefoot.

Athena nodded. "That's a good idea, Coda," she agreed. "We'll go try on some shoes first. I know a good little shoe store just around the corner from here. I'm sure we can find you something you'd like there." She took Coda's hand and began to walk towards the shoe store.

"Ok." Coda said smiling, she held tightly onto the coin in one hand and Athena's hand in the other. She was happy to have a human family that wanted and loved her, she was really glad she had met Alastor that one day.
