Issac was in the mood to take a relaxing break. He needed to slip away from the world for a bit. The other day was horrible, he and a few others were sent out to alter a few muggles' memories after some murder. He wasn't given a lot of details, just orders to change memories. What was the world coming to?
Running a hand over his face, Issac took a seat. Now was a time to put his job worries behind him and just relax. Untucking his shirt, he rested his arms on the counter and let out a deep breath.
He waved his hand and ordered a drink.

Xander had a lot on his mind lately as well. Although he had not been one of the Obliviators called to the murder scene, he had heard enough about it to worry him. He worried for his family, especially his sisters, even though they were supposedly safe at Hogwarts. But kids had been hurt before--at Hogsmeade and even the girl Katie Lawrence at Hogwarts itself. His sisters were very important to him, and he couldn't help but worry about their safety.
He didn't like worrying. He was used to knowing what was going on and how to deal with it... but this was something else entirely. They were saying it was war. And for a guy who was used to being able to find humor in any situation, Xander couldn't find anything to laugh about here.
So after work, he went straight to the Leaky Cauldron for a few drinks. As he entered the pub, he even found himself smiling a little as he recognized a familiar face.
"Hey, Ikey," he said, clapping his friend on the back. "I was hoping you'd be up for a drink or two."

The only people that Issac really worried about other than his friends were his parents. Granted they still lived in Austraila, what happened if the violence spread there? Sure his parents could probably hold their own in a fight, but what if it was something worse? He started to owl his parents a little more often than he usually did, just to make sure that things were okay.
The only person in the world that ever called him Ike, was just the person he needed to be around. Looking to Xander, he smiled. "Eh, why not three while we're at it," he responded. "How's it going Xan?"

Xander chuckled and sat down on the stool next to his friend. "I'll have what he's having," he said to the bartender, who was looking at him questioningly.
While the bartender was getting his drink, Xander ran a tired hand over his face. It had been a long day at work and he hadn't even had time to chat with his friend or flirt with the girls.
"So, what's going on?" he asked. "Any good news?"

Work was a topic that Issac did his best to steer away from when he was wasn't supposed to work. So to answer, he gave a shrug. "Well, it's time to relax a little bit, if that's the good news you're looking for." Issac finally put his hand around his glass to take a drink. There wasn't too much going on in his life. Sure, he had friends and he wasn't one of those 'loner' types. There wasn't too much there except his life with friends and work at the moment.
"Any good news on your end? Any good news about that girl from a few desks down that you've been flirting shamlessly with?" Issac gave his friend a teasing look and smile.

Xander's grin spread. "Ah, you know how it is. She's playing hard to get. But she's interested, I can tell. It'll just take a little more time until she's my next ex-girlfriend."
Yes, he knew his dating habits were bad. But he was still young, and he just wanted to enjoy it. And with all the bad things going on around them, who could blame him for wanting to have a little fun?
"But seriously, mate, we've got to find a pretty little thing for you. If for no other reason than we'll be able to double-date."

"I thought I heard her mention your name today or something." Issac laughed. "But I didn't hear it all because my stomach was hungry." This was just perfect, just what he needed after a long day of work. It wasn't very often that he went all day without really talking to anyone, but after what was going on they were fairly busy.
He laughed again. "Maybe," he said. Issac didn't have dating habits like Xander. During school he probably had two girlfriends. He dated each of them for at least three months a piece. Granted it took him forever to realize that they even liked him (Xander had to talk him into finally asking them out). Ever since school, he hadn't really dated anyone because he was trying to get his life going before worrying about that. Now that he was settled in with a job, maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to go on a few dates.

Xander raised his eyebrows at this news. "Oh, really? Well, I guess I don't have to work as hard as I thought. I must be winning her over. Although, if you didn't hear what she was saying, she could have been badmouthing me and calling me a cad. Which... come to think of it, wouldn't be entirely inaccurate."
He took a sip from the glass that had been placed in front of him, and appeared thoughtful. "There have got to be some good single girls in the Ministry who would be happy to go out with you. What about the reception witch? She's cute. She seeing anyone?"

Xander's first comment caused Issac to laugh a little louder. "Well, it didn't sound like she was badmouthing you. Her tone of voice didn't imply that she was badmouthing, it was more like she was all girly talk about you with the other girl that sits next to her."
Taking another drink from his glass, he shrugged. "I don't know. She might be. Every time I go by there, there's some guy that's there talking to her. I think I saw her leave with him once or twice." The reception witch was cute, but Issac wasn't entirely sure if she was really seeing anyone or not.

Xander tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Hmmm... this is good, then. I'm definitely making progress. You didn't happen to catch the words 'devastatingly handsome' in there anywhere, did you? Oh, well, no matter. I think maybe I'll try and ask her out for real this time, maybe for this weekend."
He was still grinning as he turned his gaze back to Ike. "As for you... hmmm. Too bad about Marcy... But there's that quiet girl in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad. Or how about that crazy chick in the Department of Mysteries? She's kind of cute, and sooner or later, she's going to figure out that Rookwood's never going to fall madly in love with her. Or oh... what about that new Auror from Australia? She's hot...."

"Yeah, that new auror from Australia is kinda hot but she looks like she could probably kill me if I did something wrong. I'd prefer to live after a date, thank you." Issac was joking, of course. "That crazy chick that's head over heels for Rookwood, I probably wouldn't even stand a chance with that one. She'd probably turn me down for a date because Rookwood wants her to do something for him." He rolled his eyes.
"However," a grin started to appear on Issac's face, "I could ask the shy one out. I've bumped into her a few times and she's blushed everytime. Maybe she'd go and she looks like she needs to have fun."

Xander chuckled at his friend's over-dramatic comments about the auror. True, aurors had a reputation for not suffering fools lightly, and most of the female aurors were considered to be a bit scary (Xander still remembered the time he tried to flirt with Veronica Massey, who had basically laughed in his face), but he doubted that they would kill their dates.
"Ah, but what a way to go. Am I right?" he joked. Then he shrugged. From the way it looked, the aurors were mostly jut pairing off with each other--Ted and Andromeda, Roland and Riley... for all they knew, Cynthia liked her partner, Jacob.
"That sounds like a plan," Xander said approvingly, when Ike mentioned the shy girl. Abigail, he thought her name was, or something like that. "And I'll talk to Elizabeth, and see if I can finally get her to go out with me."
(I hope it's OK I say that the girl he was talking about was Elizabeth, since they're both in the same department...)

(Perfectly fine with me. I haven't really used her a lot. ) "I wouldn't want that on my headstone though." Issac smiled teasingly. "After all, that seems more of a suitable way that you'd go." He gave a laugh then patted Xander on the back just to let him know he was joking. "Good luck on asking Elizabeth," he said with a shake of his head. "Hopefully it goes well for you. I'll attempt to ask Abbey about it and see what she says. I'll have to find some way to get her to go with me because after all I can't go and not watch you make a fool out of yourself. It's always ten times more entertaining to watch." It was always fun to tease Xander, because he didn't take it personal since he knew Issac was just kidding with him. "So, Saturday night maybe?"

Xander laughed. "Yeah.... I think you're probably right about that," he said, shaking his head.
One of these days, he knew he was going to have to change his ways. But e was only 20, and it just didn't make sense to settle down now. He had his whole life ahead of him, and he wanted to enjoy it.
"Hey, now," he protested. "What makes you think I'm going to make a fool of myself? It so happens that I am the height of suave sophistication."

This comment made Issac laugh again. "Yeah, if it helps you sleep better at night..." He picked up his glass again. Of course Xander was always that one that could get almost any girl he wanted. It was like that in school, and it was like that now. Of course, Issac liked to kick back and watch from time to time.
"I don't know. You know, there's always the possiblity that you could and like that time with Jessica or Jessie, or whatever her name was. Now that was highly entertaining. Oh, and that girl in school, Irene. Course you didn't really make a fool of yourself with her, but you sure did make the poor girl fall head over heels with you and she wouldn't ever leave you alone..."

Xander shook his head. "I don't think anything that happened in school counts. I mean, come on, we were all idiots back then, right?"
A slight shadow crossed his face at that moment, as a sudden memory came to him---a memory of a moment that, when he was alone in bed at night, he realized had been the most idiotic thing he had ever done. It was sort of an unspoken rule between Xander and Isaac that they simply did not talk about her. The one girl who had ever come close to his heart--and who secretly held it still.
"And as for Jess, I learned my lesson there... never go out with a girl who's more than 5 years older than you are. It's just a bad idea."

It slipped Issac's mind that Jess was something that wasn't exactly someone they talked about. "You know I didn't mean too much by that right?" He knew that there was something there but it was just an unspoken thing that he didn't say too much. There was a frown that appeared on Issac's face. He didn't really mean to bring up her name and now he felt bad for it.
"Anyway," he said quickly steering the subject away from her, "I'm looking forward to going out this weekend. We'll have one hell of a weekend, right?" Issac put a smile on his face. "Where do you think we should go?"

(Haha, I was actually trying not to name her, because Gage hasn't made her character yet...)
Xander just waved his hand and took a long drink from his glass. It was fine; he didn't want to talk about it, or call any further attention to it. It was in the past, she was in his past. Best not to think about it too much.
"Yeah, this weekend will be great," he said, smiling until it no longer felt like he was faking it. "Where do you want to go? I can't stand Le Repas, although the red-haired waitress that works there is pretty cute. But I hate the ambience. Maybe Galligan's?"

"Galligan's," Issac repeated voicing his opinion about where they should go. "It's my favorite place." He grinned. "Plus, maybe going to Galligan's won't scare off our dates too much." Of course it wouldn't be a good idea to ask a first date to a club or a bar really, at least not in Issac's mind. A nice resturant was nice and as you learned just a bit about the other person then maybe go out dancing another night. Maybe he was just completely wrong about his idea, but that just made sense to him.
"And they always give you the perfect amount of food to fill you up."

Xander nodded his agreement. The little Italian restaurant was just fancy enough to be impressive, yet it had a cozy feel to it as well. In the winter, the fireplace would be burning, but now that the weather was warm, they might even be able to eat outside on the patio.
"Yeah, you don't want the poor girl to be subjected to your terrible dancing," Xander teased, nudging his friend with his elbow. "We'll meet at Galligan's--you with your date, and me with mine. Assuming they say yes, of course. And I'll try to make a reservation, so that we can sit out on the patio if it's not raining."
