When Gabriella went out, she rarely went out alone. It was usually her father that didn't want her to go out by herself. At least once a week, she left the house by herself to meet her best friend, Sedona. Although today wasn't one of those days. She was going out for another round of possible shopping. Usually it was window shopping in order to get more ideas then she would return to her house with loads of new fabric and ideas.
Today, her friend, Declin was going with her. She was the one that introduced him to her father and because of that it seemed like her father didn't mind if he went with her. Gabriella trusted him more than the other people that worked for the family in the sense of friendship. It seemed awkward if any of the other people went with her out so she always made it a point to mention to her father when she was going out so that he would appoint Declin to go with her.
"Dec," Gabriella called out. "Come on!"

Declin had had a long night the night before, with absolutely no sleep. So though it wasn't early, Declin was still quite sluggish. "I'm commin," Declin siad, his American accent that he usually so cleverly hid, seeped out. He caught up with Gabriella, his best friend, and the two continued her shopping through Diagon Ally.
Dec was glad to "watch over" Gabriella for Marcello. Though in his opinion, she didn't really need it, she was a pretty tough girl. She was his very best friend, seeing that he didn't have many. "So let me guess about what the plan is for today," Declin said. "We're here in Diagon Ally, meaning you're going shopping. Window shopping at first, of course, so you can plan any ideas in that head of yours." Declin chuckled. "Then lunch, in which I will be conviently convinced to pay, and then back to the shop for fabrics before rushing back home while the ideas are fresh?" He looked at her and grinned.

Gabriella stood there for a moment looking amused as he guessed what they were going to do today. By the end, she adopted a shocked look on her face. "Well, I would say that you must be psychic!" She let out a laugh.
"Well, I might actually venture off that idea a little and actually buy something else rather than just fabric. I haven't decided yet." Gabriella was smiling as she took his arm. "And you have to admit that it doesn't take much to convince you to buy lunch."

Declin laughed, "No, not psychic, I just know you all too well." He said with a grin. They continued walking, occasionally stopping when Gabriella say something in a shop window that she liked. "And when it comes to lunch, what can I say? I'm a softie," he chuckled. After a little longer of a walk, Declin turned to Gabriella. "So, where to first?"

She laughed. Other than Sedona, Declin was really her only other person close to her excluding her parents. "I think it's just because you like to pay for my lunch," Gabriella teased. She thought it was sweet of him to pay for her lunch although she was very capable of doing it herself.
A few items in store windows caught her eye but it wasn't anything that really grabbed her. She stopped whenever he started talking to her again "I can't believe you have to really ask," she said with a fake gasp. Gabriella laughed and released his arm only to take his hand and started to lead him to the shoe store. "I have to get a pair of new shoes to match that outfit I was working on the other day."

"I must be slipping, how could I forget?" Declin asked, laughing slightly. A girl does love her shoes. He remembered the countless of times he had to be dragged along by his sister to the mall...
He stopped thinking back and shook his head, trying to remove Kendra from his memory for a moment. He was hanging out with Gabriella for the day, and though it was technally work, they were friends, and they were having fun.

She wasn't aware of anything going on in Declin's head so Gabriella continued to pull him along into the shoe store. "You know, you're a sweetheart for coming along with me shopping. And I promise we will go wherever you want to as soon as we're done in here." She smiled.
The people in the shoe store knew her by name and they should as many times as she came in. She smiled at the sales associates then walked over to a pair of brown heels. They seemed to be perfect, although the ones next to them seemed perfect too. One pair had a shorter heel and the other pair had a button on them.
Gabriella was still holding onto Dec's hand as she attempted to decide between the two. "You know Dec," she said glancing over to him, "you're going to have to help me decide which ones look better. There can't be any of this it doesn't matter, whatever you want stuff either."

"Okay," Declin said. "Granted, I'm not very good with...well fashion in general. So I'm not sure how important my opinion is," Declin said awkwardly. Though while she looked at two pairs of shoes, he pointed with the hand that wasn't holding hers. "Pick the shorter heel. With the other ones youd be taller than me," he laughed.

"Your opinion is very important," she reassured. "It's always good to have someone's opinion when it comes to this kind of thing." His awkwardness didn't bother her, she just let it go. In truth, his opinion was very important Gabriella just chose not to go into detail about it. If Declin didn't like it, then she would come up with something else.
Gabriella started to laugh and playfully hit his arm while rolling her eyes. "Dec," she said still laughing. She shook her head and picked up the pair with the shorter heel. Looking around for the sales associate, Gabriella motioned for her to come over. "Can I have these in a size eight please," she asked nicely. The lady walked into the back while Gabriella looked over to her other partner in crime.
"Now, do you have anything in mind that you want," she asked while waiting for the lady to return.

Declin thought for a moment. "Not really, but if i come up with something, i'll let you know," Declin said. He may ask her if they could stop by the bookstore for a moment, but only if she wanted to as well. They sat down and waited for the associate to bring Gabriella her shoes.

"Sounds good to me," she said as the lady returned with her box of shoes. Gabriella paid for the shoes. Go figure the moment they would sit down the woman would return. "Thank you."
Standing back up, she grinned widely with her bag in hand. "Come on. We've got a lot of other places to go by. Whenever you finally decide where you want to go, just pull me in that direction but just give me a small warning first."

Declin sighed inwardly when the associate came back the second they sat down. "Of course," Declin said. Always on the move those two were. She bought her shoes and they were on their way to the next shop. "Where next m'dear?" Declin said, holding the door open to lead her through.

"Good question," she said as she walked out of the door. "You like to go to the bookshop, so why don't we go there then go get some lunch." Gabriella was smiling. It never failed that whenever he was around she would smile. That included even if she saw him in a 'family meeting' with her father.
She led him to the bookshop and opened the door for him. "Ladies first," she joked.

"Har Har, real funny," Declin laughed, but walked inside and held the door from the inside for her. He, by habbit, walked toward the defence section and began looking through books. "Where do you want to go for lunch?" Declin asked as he picked up a random book and flipped through it. Figures he had already read the one he picked up though.

"Where do I want to eat? I don't know." She followed him to the defense books and looked over a couple of the titles. "Why don't you decide today? You always make me decide." Usually Gabriella was pretty decisive over something but with Declin around, she didn't want to be the one that always decided where they went.
"Hey, this one looks new," she said after going through three books piled on top of each other.

"Oh don't make me choose, I'm so indecisive!" Declin laughed. He could never decide on little things, like what book to buy and where to go for lunch. Then an idea struck him. "We should have ice cream for lunch," He said, a childish look on his face.
"I actually haven't read that one," Declin said, suddenly facinated by the book Gabriella was holding. "May I?" he asked, reaching for the book.

"Ice cream for lunch?" Gabriella looked at him curiously. "I've never just had that for lunch but that does sound good to me." Her mother would always tell her that she shouldn't eat just something like ice cream for lunch, it usually had to be something more filling.
Seeing his interest turning to the book in her hand, she smiled. A playful part of her started to surface. Her eyes twinkled with laughter and she looked to the book as he reached out, only to hold it away from him.

"Gab..." Declin laughed as she teased him with the book. "That's not funny," he said, but couldn't possibly make himself sound serious. He finally snatched the book from her and made a child-like face, squinting his eyes and sticking out his tongue. "Ha ha." he joked playfully.
"Really, never had just ice cream for lunch?" Declin asked. He really could be a child sometimes, possibly from his lack of anything like a childhood in his past. He was making that up with Gabriella now. "Everyonce and a while, if we were too lazy to cook or order in, my mom would make the three of us ice cream sundaies in the middle of the day. She always found a way to make them sound healty, like putting in bananas and cherries so we'd have fruit." Declin laughed, but a hint of sadness flashed across his eyes. Remembering his family, back when life was simpler, it saddened him, but only for a moment.

"Dec," she said mocking him. Her attempt to keep the book away from him didn't last to long. His arms were longer than hers and apparently he was faster. When he stuck out his tongue, Gabriella put on a fake frown but it didn't last long.
"No, my mum wouldn't ever let me have ice cream for lunch. She always made some kind of meal, big or small, for lunch." Gabriella smiled as he talked about his family and took his hand after she saw the sadness. That was the reason why she introduced him to her father but while they were out wasn't the time to really think about the past.
"Why don't we buy that book and then go for some ice cream? You have me starving now."

The sadness was gone the moment her hand took his. "Well, Ice cream is the perfect meal." Declin said, his face lighting up. They walked to the counter and paid for the book and then led her out the door, back into the sunshine. "Its a perfect day for ice cream too," he said, holding Gabriella's hand and leading her to the ice cream shoppe.
