"Yes, actually, I can," Ted said, completely serious as he answered her question. Then he broke into just a tiny smile. "It was this... just this. But it was terribly important and had to be done. And I don't think we're done yet. You see, holding you right now is key."
He was joking with her, yes, since they were supposed to be at the ball, but part of him was serious, too. He wanted to be nowhere else in the world right now than right here with her.
He kissed her temple. "I'm still so amazed you said I do."

"I couldn't have just left her lying there," he said. "And I knew I shouldn't have just let you go like that. I knew that if I would have went after you that you would have hexed me quicker than I could have turned around because you were angry with me. I knew that I had to let you calm down and I wasn't even sure what I was going to say to you. I was scared Jackie. I didn't know what I supposed to have done. I couldn't have just been rude and left her lying on the floor. I took her to the hospital wing and then left right after." He wanted Jackie to just believe him, but he knew that she could be as stubborn as a mule. "Once I got back to my room, I just laid there. I couldn't sleep, or even bring myself to eat much at all. I should have come after you. I know it. Even then you wouldn't have believed me. I can't tell you how many times that nothing happened. I don't have feelings for her, honestly I don't." Dean had no idea as to how he could make Jackie believe him. "But you did. Once." If only she could make Dean see how much it hurt to see him kissing another girl. And it had been an ex, which made it worse. It felt like Dean was going back to her, leaving Jackie for something he'd already had once. She sighed. "I can't be angry at you anymore, Dean. I just don't have the energy. And I've missed you so much."

"Yes, I did like her, once. That hasn't been repeated. She didn't really make me all that happy Jackie. It was just far too hectic for me. I stopped liking her like that, I really did. After I thought about the whole situation then, I realized that I never really felt strong about that relationship. I didn't really like her like that."
Dean moved just a hair closer to her. "I've missed you too. Things haven't been the same. I miss my girlfriend and best friend. I miss you trying to talk me into doing insane things." He gave her a goofy grin then let it fade. "Please understand Jackie, its only you, and that has been the way it always has been."

Regina was beyond nervous when time drew closer for the ball to start. What if she tripped? She had to dance the first dance in front of everyone. What if she just embarrassed the entire Ravenclaw house? Or worse... Thane?
She tried her best to clear these 'what ifs' from her mind and think that she had everything together. Tonight she would not embarrass anyone... or try her best not to.
Hallie was looking down right beautiful and Regina wished that she could give her friend more confidence. Maybe before the night would be over, Hallie would find the confidence that she needed. Regina only hoped, because she didn't like for Hallie to look down on herself.
Glancing over to Thane, Regina lowered her voice to a whisper. "I'm nervous," she admitted quietly.

"Please understand Jackie, its only you, and that has been the way it always has been." Dean had always known just what to say to her to make her feel better. It was one of the reasons she loved being around him. It also made it really difficult for her to be angry with him, and she took a deep breath and sighed. What good was all this anger doing? He had hurt her, but he was in front of her now, apologizing and asking for her back, and Merlin help her, but she didn't want to say no. She took a step closer to him and put her arms around his neck, holding him tight.

At first he thought that maybe she would start yelling at him for something but he was surprised when she put her arms around his neck. Dean's arms went around her waist. Without word, he leaned down and kissed her head before rested his own against hers.
Now, hopefully things were going to be back like they were. They had both been miserable, and now maybe it was finally time for them to go back to normal. "So, no more fighting?"

Zoe was supposed to meet Gryffin outside the Great Hall so they could go in together. She was still incredibly nervous, and a part of her wondered if the Gryffindor would change his mind or if he never planned to show up at all. Maybe he was just playing some trick on the needy workaholic Ravenclaw girl.
Still, her roommate Adele had convinced her to go, so here she was. She looked positively stunning. She had her dark hair pulled back from her face in a pile of curls, and was wearing more makeup than she ever usually bothered with. Her dress was midnight blue velvet and had a rather low-cut neckline. She had been somewhat shocked to learn just how well she filled it out. When had that happened? Had she been buried in books so long that she failed to notice that she was blossoming?
As she came down the staircase, she bit down on her lower lip and scanned the hallway for Gryffin. But instead of her date, she noticed Dean. And he was standing with Jackie.
She realized now that the last time she had talked to Dean, her behavior had been pretty awful. Just because she'd been in the middle of a breakdown didn't mean she had the right to act the way she had, or to kiss him like that. She owed him an apology. So she took a deep breath and headed toward them.

Jackie had just been about to tell Dean that she was done fighting with him. It was xhausting and miserable avoiding him, and she just didn't want to do it anymore.
But as she opened her mouth, someone caught her eye walking towards them. Was that....
She glanced off to the side, where Reese was still standing, but he didn't seem to notice Zoe. How couldn't he? She looked stunning, Jackie thought a bit jealously. She was taller than Jackie, and she just seemed to put herself together better. And the worst of it was that she was alone. Why was she coming towards Dean?

When he didn't recieve any answer from Jackie, Dean looked out her curiously. Was she second thinking forgiving him? Finally, he noticed that she was staring at something else.
Dean moved his head away from Jackie's for a moment and looked in the direction she was looking. He put an arm around Jackie's waist as he stood up straight. Looking to Jackie, he gave her a look that said he had no idea what was going on.
To Dean, he didn't really think about how Zoe looked. It could be that he was just oblivious to anyone other than the girl standing beside him. "Hey Zoe," he said in almost a question.

Merlin, Dean looked cute tonight. But he was with Jackie now, and Zoe knew she had to accept that. Besides, she had a date. Maybe now was the time to start over again and pick up the pieces of her life.
She noticed the look on Jackie's face, and she tried to give the other girl a smile as she approached. Then, looking up at Dean, she took another breath and started to speak. "Dean... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I was... I was really messed up and I acted... well, kind of crazy. I'm trying to start over again and get away from the books so much, and I want you to know that it's due to you."

Kristen looked at herself in her mirror once more. Tonight she actually felt a little self-conscious about herself. Her dress was a pale yellow. It was sort of plain, yet it was elegant. The dress had a sweetheart neckline and it just seemed to fit her perfectly. Her blond hair was wavy and in a loose bun.
She took a deep breath and started to leave her froom. Kristen told Anonimus that she would just meet him at the dance. Feeling even more nervous than she had at first, she continued out of the dorms and toward the Great Hall.
Swallowing the nervousness, she didn't look at who was already there as she walked quickly down the stairs. Kristen didn't want to draw attention to herself. She moved away from the people already there so that she could find Anonimus easier as she waited patiently.

He couldn't really find it in himself to hold a grudge. It was just a little more work than necessary. He hadn't seen Zoe so... calm before. Dean rose an eyebrow at this. It was odd to see her not freaking out over something. His arm still around Jackie, holding her close to him to let Jackie know that there wasn't anything going on between him and Zoe. Dean was the reason she was starting over? He wasn't quite sure what to say. "I'm glad that you're trying to make a difference. You look a lot healthier."

Zoe actually smiled. "Thank you, I feel healthier. I'm even eating regular meals again." Something so basic that shouldn't have been a momentous occasion, but for her, it was. She'd also been getting more sleep, which did wonders for her.
"Look, Dean... when I kissed you, and you didn't kiss me back... I realized something. Well, actually, I didn't realize it until later when I woke up in the hospital wing, but you know what I mean. I realized... you didn't love me. And how could you? I was awful. I was crazy and irrational and... well, you know. I was studying so hard because I thought it would make my parents love me... but it made everyone else hate me. Including myself. So I'm going to try to let things go sometimes... to have a little fun. I know it's too late for us and you have Jackie... but I still want to try and be a better person. For me, not anyone else. I just hope Jackie realizes what a great guy she's got."

She moved away from the people already there so that she could find Anonimus easier as she waited patiently. Anonimus put on his dress robes and decided he really didn't like the robe. He wondered how much trouble he would get in with Kristen if he only wore his under shirt. He put the over coat back on and took it off, he did it again. "Yeah no," he said to no one in particular, he took the over coat off. He was in black dress pants with a white button up shirt. He looked in his trunk and pulled out some suspenders and put them on and grabbed his favorite hat. He left his room and put on his hat on the way down the stairs. He Looked at his watch and decided he was early enough that if Kristen had an objection he could always go back and put it on before the ball starts. He got to the bottom of the steps and saw a glimpse of yellow in the far off corner. He smiled to himself and walked to where she was. He passed a few people in conversation but he didn't really have time for most school drama so he continued to walk to Kristen. "Hey Kristen, you look really pretty," he said giving her a reassuring smile. "I know I'm not in exactly the normal attire, so if you want me to go change I wont object," he said grinning at her. "I just find this to be more comfortable." OOC: Hey Kristen you have a pm check it before you respond.

Off in her own thoughts, Kristen actually found herself thinking about what Reese looked like all cleaned up. She hadn't bothered to even look around to see if he was there because she was waiting for her other friend to come down.
"Well, well, look at you," she said smiling as Anonimus just seemed to come out of nowhere. That was probably because she wasn't paying attention when he came down. "Thanks." Her hands were at the side of her dress which she started to play with subtly. "I never really pinned you to be the one that would always follow the dress code," she laughed. "I actually kind of like it. It suits you."

Anonimus laughed a little. "Thanks I really just wasn't feeling the over coat," he said with a nod. Anonimus wasn't one for dances but figured this wouldn't be to bad. He looked around at all the other people just talking. He noticed that a few of the people looked stressed and the others so smitten with their dates. He sighed a little to himself, 'if life was only that simple, I wish this dance was all I had to worry about,' he shook his head to snap out of it. "So, what do we do now," he asked readjusting his hat.

"At least you're comfortable. I feel kind of awkward," she said with a laugh. Kristen never was one to really wear dresses, or to really dress up for that matter. She was going to attempt to be comfortable in what she had on, but it was going to take a little more getting used to.
"I have no idea what we're supposed to do right now, other than just stand here. I thought that you were going to take longer getting ready." She said the last part jokingly.

By the time Reese's attention had strayed from Jackie and landed on Kristen, she was already with her date, and another Hufflepuff, and it looked like she hadn't even noticed him. This actually bothered him, and he had to quickly wipe a dirty look from his face as he looked at Anonimus.
The look softened considerably when he took Kristen in. He wanted to make a comment about how much yellow was around, between her dress, her hair, and all the Hufflepuffs, but he found that he was speechless and rooted to his spot. She looked stunning. What was it with these girls? One dance comes up, and they all looked so beautiful they broke your heart. He would have to tease her about it later.
He glanced back at Jackie, Dean, and Zoe, and then made up his mind that Jackie was fine, and he went to join the Hufflepuffs.
"All this yellow is enough to blind a bloke," he said by way of announcing himself, and then smiled at Kristen. "You look really nice." He had to say it. He couldn't bring himself to tease her without making sure she knew that she was beautiful.

Jackie felt better when Dean wrapped his arm around her. She still couldn't help but notice that Zoe looked very pretty, and the smiled the girl gave her was not returned. Not yet, anyway.
She listened, biting her tongue to keep from interjecting, and wondering just where Zoe was going with all of this. Maybe Dean wasn't the type to hold a grudge, but Jackie was a jealous person. She hated that about herself, but at least she could admit it.
By the end, she had at least dropped her arms to her side and sighed. "I know how great he is," she said softly, leaning into him so he would know she meant it.

Before she got the chance to finish answering him however, someone appeared. Her hands were still at the sides of her dress and she held onto it as she heard his words. For once, Kristen didn't have a quick and witty response at first. She reasoned that the only reason why not was because she was just feeling more self-conscious than ever. "Thanks," she said. "I suppose you clean up well. Although, I personally think if you could add a dash of yellow to your dress robes, you'd look even better." Kristen let a smile spread across her face to let him know she was only teasing.
