Seth fixed his tie for the millionth time in the mirror. He and Maxi needed to arrive early due to Maxi being a house champion, and he still had to go all the way to the Hufflepuff common room to pick her up. One last look in the mirror and he was out the door, thankfully avoiding his other housemates who were still getting ready.
When he reached the Hufflepuff common room, Maxi was standing out in the hall. Seth smiled at her. True to her house colors, she was wearing a golden yellow dress that looked gorgeus on her and her blonde hair was curled and bounced on her shoulders. In Seth's eyes, she was beautiful.
"Wow Max," Seth said in awe. "You look great."

Maxi waited patiently outside the common room for Seth. She felt a bit strange all dressed up in her gold dressrobes, but it was a good strange. Especially when she heard the awe in Seth's voice.
"Hey," Maxi blushed. "You clean up good Inophen," she laughed. "Ready?"

"Here, let me," he said reaching for her wrist. Gently he held it up and then put carefully clasped the bracelet around her wrist. Dean smiled after it was put on her arm and then raised his eyes to meet hers. "I asked you to go to the ball with me, and you said yes. I wanted to go with you then, and I still want to go with you. So, I thought that I would find you and bring you here if you didn't come." Dean spoke with some confidence in the almost awkward slience. Like Jackie, he wanted to hug her and tell her how much he missed her but he refrained from it for a few more moments. "Wait," Jackie finally managed to say, her expression confused. "I'm mad at you. You get that, right?" There was no sense beating around the bush. They both knew she was angry... why not admit to it? Maybe this was the confrontation they were supposed to have had ages ago. "You kissed another girl... why aren't you here with her?"

Looking at her curiously, Dean had an idea of where this was going. "I know that you're mad at me and I don't care, well I mean I do, but," Dean sighed, "anyway I was going to take you anyway. You never told me that you didn't want to go with me."
He shook his head. "I didn't kiss her. She kissed me, and I swear to you I didn't kiss her back. She surprised me and I could never kiss another girl. You know better than anyone that I would never do that. Plus, I don't even like her like that." He ran a hand through his shaggy hair. "Besides Jackie, I've always liked you even when we were little but I was always scared that if I said anything you'd beat me up and I always thought that you would never like anyone like me. Once I got the courage to tell you, what makes you think that I would want to lose that?"

"Hey," Maxi blushed. "You clean up good Inophen," she laughed. "Ready?" "As I'll ever be," Seth shrugged, but he smiled widely. He held out his arm and latched with MAxi and the two walked down to the ball. Just some teachers and a couple of students were there. "Are you supposed to check in with McGonagall or something?"

Caleb adjusted his dressrobes, darn uncomfortable things but he was getting used to them, he was waiting for his sister, though he knew that the Champions weren't going to actually enter the main room until later they were supposed to show up early to await instruction. Sam was used to these kinds of affairs so what could be taking her?

Spiteful. Vindictive. Yes it was true, she was that and more and very very bitter. Thanks to little miss Champion she was dateless. Nicolas would obviously be attending the affair with Samantha. Nicolas had no intention of being with her. She was okay to mess around with but not good enough to marry it would seem, but Samantha...well she was a catch.
No rage intense enough could describe what Charlotte felt for Sam, and she would get even, if it took her dying breath, she'd get even.
As it was she still decided to attend the affair, and appeared early so she could hone in on a corner and spectate the event.

She had seen them kissing, afterall, and even the memory made her want to just cry. But here Dean was, waiting for her, and trying to take her to the dance, and Godric, she had missed him. She almost laughed when he said he thought she'd beat him up, and shook her head. "You went back for her, Dean, as I left. You didn't come for me."

"I couldn't have just left her lying there," he said. "And I knew I shouldn't have just let you go like that. I knew that if I would have went after you that you would have hexed me quicker than I could have turned around because you were angry with me. I knew that I had to let you calm down and I wasn't even sure what I was going to say to you. I was scared Jackie. I didn't know what I supposed to have done. I couldn't have just been rude and left her lying on the floor. I took her to the hospital wing and then left right after."
He wanted Jackie to just believe him, but he knew that she could be as stubborn as a mule. "Once I got back to my room, I just laid there. I couldn't sleep, or even bring myself to eat much at all. I should have come after you. I know it. Even then you wouldn't have believed me. I can't tell you how many times that nothing happened. I don't have feelings for her, honestly I don't." Dean had no idea as to how he could make Jackie believe him.

Andi blushed. When he looked at her like that, it was difficult for her to breathe. He made her feel so incredibly, breathtakingly beautiful. It was a feeling she wasn't entirely used to having, but she could definitely learn to get used to it. "You already do," she said. "I'm yours, totally and completely." She wrapped her arms around him, closing her eyes as she kissed him. She just wanted to disappear into him, leaving all the pain of the past behind. "How could I ever think that I could live without you?" Ted gave her a cheeky smile and shrugged. "I don't know how anyone thinks they can live without me." He was kidding, of course. He was nowhere near that egotistical, but he joked a lot. It was just his way of keeping things light. "But seriously, Andi, we need to go to this dance, or the dress is coming off. You've got... I don't know. Maybe ten seconds." As he spoke, his hands went for the laces in the back of her dress, and he tugged at the ends of one of them.

Andi blushed and tried half-heartedly to pull away from him. But she was really putty in his hands, and all he had to do was give her that look with those beautiful blue eyes and she was ready to melt into the floorboards.
"No, Ted... we should go..." she said, but even she didn't sound convinced.
And really, who would care if they were a little late? She could fix her hair again magically. They were newlyweds. They could hardly be blamed for getting caught up in each other.

Ted grinned, making her stop protesting by kissing her deeply. He would never, never do anything she didn't want to do, and if he thought she really meant it when she said no just now, he would have stopped in a heartbeat. The truth of the matter was, they were newly weds, and really, worshipping her body right now was far more important than any dance or ball could be. Kissing her had just become a matter of life and death, and if he didn't breathe her in right now, he would die, surely.
So he tugged more urgently at the laces, surprising himself at how well he could undo them as distracted as he was.

Andi's skin tingled and she pressed closer to him. "Mmmm, maybe we could just be late... it's not like anyone really misses the chaperones, anyway," she murmured.
A part of her dimly wondered whether she would even want to bother getting dressed again if she and Ted went back to bed. But then he was touching her, and all thoughts immediately vanished from her head. Her every thought and sense was completely caught up in him.

"I'm here to catch you if you trip, but I highly doubt that you will." He gave her an encouraging smile. At her next comment, Frank laughed. "That won't happen, promise. Besides if it did, you know that I'd hex anyone who ever made a comment about it." He gave her a playful wink. "I wouldn't be anywhere else. You do fine at the challenges, but then again I suppose I am a little biased on that." Alice laughed and gave Frank a little squeeze. Just having him there was a huge weight off of her mind. She was glad they had stopped fighting and admitted their feelings for each other. She really didn't think she'd be able to do this without him by her side. "Just hold on to me," she said. "You give me confidence. You know that, right?"

"Do you think that I would let you go," Frank asked with his eyebrows raised. He gave her a goofy smile. "Of course I know that. And I hope I give you a lot more than that." Frank gave her a teasing wink before kissing her quickly.
In all his years in Hogwarts, he had always dreamed about something like this. Him and Alice together and happy. When Frank was younger he was probably one of the most forgetful people, however he was glad that he grew out of that. Then again the only way he did was with Alice helping him.

James left Remus, Sirius, and Peter in the common room as he ran to the Hufflepuff common room. There was no way that he was going to be late meeting Robin. Of course, James always believed in walking up right on time, but tonight he wanted to be early and surprise her.
After he reached the Hufflepuff entrance, James didn't notice Robin out there yet. He quickly straightened out his dress robes and then ran his hands through his hair. That of course was no use because his hair was always messy, it never failed. Once he was happy, James stood casually, leaning against the wall across from the entrance as he waited for Robin.

Normally, Robin loved her short haircut. It was cute and flirty and easy to maintain. But at an event like this, she simply couldn't do a thing with it that would make it look special. It was too short to pull up into an elegant updo. And when she tried curling it, she resembled a picture of the muggle comic character, Little Orphan Annie. It was a disaster. If she had known enough magic, she could have extended her hair for a day in order to pull it back. But she didn't know how. In the end, she wound up settling with a simple flip, much the way she wore it every other day. At least she had the dress and the shoes and the makeup to make her look special.
Her dress was a soft, shimmery color of sea green. It swept across her shoulders and fell into an Empire waist, then down in a floaty, wispy skirt. Overall, she looked really pretty, aside from her hair troubles. Even so, she had butterflies in her stomach as she stepped out of the common room to meet James.

His arms were lightly crossed over his chest as he waited for Robin to emerge from her common room. James would have be a liar if he said he didn't have a few butterflies in his stomach too.
Once Robin came out, James pushed himself off the wall. When he walked up to her and finally took a good look at her, he didn't know what to say at first. James Potter was speechless. That never happened. If Sirius had been there, he would have been teased relentlessly. Robin looked, well extremely beautiful. "Hey," he finally said smiling. "You look wonderful."

That was all the go ahead Ted needed, and his smiled against her lips before he simply picked her up and carried her the few feet back into her bedroom. That last thing he wanted to do right now was parade around in front of the entire school, wanting her as badly as he did. But at least she wasn't going tonight without him. He worked to gently seperate her from the miles of material she wore, and then continued to absolutely worship her from head to toe, the dress and his robes laying crumpled on the floor.

It was a strange thing, Andi thought as she snuggled up next to Ted a while later, how a person could feel more like home than any house or apartment. Ted felt like home to her. That was why she'd felt so lost when they were apart. It was because she belonged with him, and he with her.
She smiled up at him as she trailed her finger playfully along the broad expanse of his bare chest. "You know," she said teasingly, "I know we were supposed to do something tonight, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Can you?"
