"Come on," Julia dragged Nolan along and met up with Jeremy and Alenna by the table. "Hey guys," Julia said. "Lennie you look stunning Girl," Julia laughed. If she was going to get all dolled up for this shin-dig, she was going to go all out on the girlyness of it all. Usually, Julia was very much too much tomboy, tonight would be a fun experiment on how she could handle being all girly. "Aw thanks Ju," Alenna said. "You look great too!" It was needless to say that Julia being all dressed up and make-up'd was an unusual sight. But Alenna was honest in saying that the Gryffindor girl looked amazing tonight. "And Nolan, you're very handsome as well," Alenna smiled at her boyfriend's best friend. "Jeremy and I got a table for us over there, come on," She said, her hand still in Jeremy's as she lead them to the table.

Daniel grinned when Julie made a comment about him being a gentleman. Of course he was, that's how he was raised. If he wasn't polite, kind or gentlemanly and his mother ever caught word while he was a kid, he'd most likely get smacked upside the head.
Kids weren't really like that now a days. Daniel didn't blame anyone for it, it's just that Chivalry was a dying thing. "You're welcome" Daniel said with another grin as he led Julie to her seat at the teacher's table.

Rori was a little nervous upon meeting Leo but once they met in the common room, her nerves seemed to calm down. He looked cute dressed up, that was certain. She knew that she wouldn't trip over her dress because luckily she was able to have it taken up a little so she could not step on it or anything. That wasn't what she was still a little nervous about. Rori hadn't really been dancing. After all, she was only thirteen and there weren't a lot of opportunities to go dancing. She was a little nervous that she wouldn't be very good at it.
She held onto Leo's hand as they made it to where everyone was standing. Rori let out a quiet breath as she looked up to Leo. She smiled. "Are you ready," she asked with a little excitement evident in her voice.

Leo couldn't help the dopey grin that seemed permanently stuck on his face from the moment he first saw her in her dress. She looked so pretty, and he was quite certain that he was the luckiest fourth year at the ball, because he had her on his arm.
He looked around at the rest of the students, but he didn't really see them. Rori was all he could see.
Biting down on his lower lip, he turned to her as she spoke. "Yeah... yes. I'm ready."

Leo's answer made Rori's smile widen. "I'm going to go ahead and apologize. I'm sorry if I step on your toes," she said with a shy like look. "I'm going to do my best not to, but just in case it happens, I'm sorry." Rori thought that he might hear that apology again but then again he might not. She had hopes that she wouldn't step on his toes at all.
Rori wasn't paying attention to anyone around then at the moment. She was a little aware that she was playing with the fabric of her dress with her other hand. It was just something that kept her excitement/nerves down.

Leo laughed at her comment. The truth was, he couldn't guarantee that he'd be much better than that. He'd never done a formal dance like this, and he hadn't had any dancing lessons, either. But he wasn't one of those types who started making apologies before they even knew whether they could do something or not. He approached all situations with the belief that he could do anything until he tried it. He was confident in himself, and why shouldn't he be? His mother always said that if you didn't believe in yourself, no one else would.
"I'm sure you'll be fine," Leo assured her. "I've never danced with anyone like this before, either, but how hard can it be? Just follow the music and relax. You'll be great."

Hearing Leo laughing made her relax a little more. It was actually comforting to know that she wasn't the only one who didn't have any formal dancing practice. Rori smiled. "I just thought I'd go ahead and throw that out just in case." She gave a small laugh. Following the music didn't sound too terribly hard. Besides, one could do almost anything if they put their mind to it, right? It wasn't that Rori lacked confidence, it was just she didn't know exactly what she was doing. However, that was all a part of the learning experience.
"I'm hoping that the dance will be a lot of fun. You don't mind dancing a lot of the night, do you," she asked with a teasing like tone.

He pressed a quick kiss on her nose. "I would love to dance all night," he replied happily. "I mean, that's what we're here for, right? Not to sit around and twiddle our thumbs. Of course, if it turns out we're both horrible dancers.... well... what the heck? At least we'll have fun, right?"
Leo curled an arm around Rori's shoulders and gave a light squeeze before leading her into the ballroom. "It looks like the whole school showed up," he commented.

The kiss on her nose made her ears burn and it also made her smile. Leo was extremely sweet and in a way he was sort of like a best friend too. "I'm glad we're on the same page," she said with a light laugh. Tonight was a night that she was going to dance for as long as she could. Rori was glad that Leo would entertain her and dance with her all night.
She leaned into him when he squeezed her shoulder. Walking into the ballroom was extremely beautiful. The way that it was set up, and how everyone was dressed. It seemed like that were in a book. Rori slipped her arm around Leo's waist as they continued to walk in.

Leo was just young enough that he was still a romantic and he didn't feel the need to hide it out of some need to be cool. His reaction at seeing the ballroom all decorated like some sort of magical winter wonderland was just as amazed as Rori's was, and he made no attempt to disguise it.
"Wow," he whispered, leaning closer to Rori as she wrapped her arm around him. "It's like stepping into a fairy tale."

She nodded in response to Leo's reaction. Her eyes were scanning the room. Emme wasn't there yet nor were the champions. Rori wasn't exactly sure how this ball was going to work but she had the feeling that they were supposed to wait for the champions before anything really happened.
Rori led Leo over to an empty table. "I think tonight is going to be really fun," she said with a smile and excited tone.

"i'm thinking," Seth said as he read over the scroll Dumbledore had handed Maxi. "That these guys you have to dance with don't try to make a move on you," he smiled, kissing her cheek. "Other than that, piece of cake, you've got it in the bag," Seth said, quietly so that the others didn't hear him. "I mean, you just have to dance all night, how hard can that be?" he shrugged. Maxi raised her eyebrow at Seth. Yea, dance all night, why don't you try it buddy? The rules were pretty easy to follow. She frowned at one part though. That each Champion danced with the other's date once. Maxi didn't want to sound overly protective of her boyfriend, she hated those kinds of girls. And she liked Regina and Alice just fine. Sam on the other hand... Seth had insisted to maxi a million times that the two Slytherins were just friends, but it didn't stop her from a bit of jealousy rising in her. She looked around at the other girls. "So, do we just wait?" she asked.

Roxanna smiled back and nodded, taking the initiative and leading Nick off of the dance floor. She took them to a table that was empty and sat down, still thinking about meeting Nick's family. She was nervous, but she had good reason to be. It wasn't every day a guy she likes invites her to spend the holidays, or at least a part of them, with their family. "See, now I'm worried that I'll take too much attention away from you!" She said with a laugh. "That would be really great, though, and I'll try to handle your sister's questions. Thanks, Nick. It means a lot to me," She said, her voice dropping to a whisper for the last few words as if she was too embarrassed to speak them louder. "Oh I don't mind," Nick said. More attention on Roxanna would mean less-ish on Nick. Less of being forced to talk about the 'how's school? working hard?' questions he was normally asked. His mother would be over the moon thrilled to know he was bringing a girl home from school. She practically asked him about it every letter she wrote. When Roxanna got quiet, Nick reached over and took her hand in his, smiling at her. "Anytime," Nick said. "It'll be fun."

[The Yule Ball is concluded, and the winner of the Second Challenge was Samantha Montgomery. If any couples or characters would like to continue their individual plots from the Yule Ball (later in the night after the actual challenge began), they may start a separate thread here in the ballroom. Locking this thread now. Thanks. ]
