"World domination, of course," he said in a teasing manner, though there was some truth to his words. Alek's father never believed Alek could be a good leader for their pack. He beat him mercilessly whenever Alek spoke of one day stepping into his father's shoes. Eirik preferred Alek in his shadow. But since his father's disappearance, Alek had been hellbent on proving the old man wrong. His pack had grown under his leadership and they'd conquered more lands in the past two years than Eirik had in his last five as Alpha.

"Ah." she said, "Sounds exhausting."
As a member of a family who regularly practiced world domination Christine had no such aspirations. She wanted to travel, see the world, be free.
"How's that going for you?"

"Swimmingly. My plan was to start with an attractive woman and move on from there. I'm fairly certain I've already won over an attractive woman with my charming personality."
"And what are your plans, love? What could the lovely Christine Montgomery possibly want that she doesn't already have?"

She laughed, "World domination through an attractive woman." she repeated, then appeared to think about it, "Well that's one way to do it."
She rolled her eyes at his 'charming personality', "Well I caught Vanessa giving you the eye earlier." she teased.
She grew quiet when he asked her about her plans. Did she have plans?
"Peace." she answered, "Adventure." she looked at him, "Love." she said with a sarcastic sneer as she picked the bottle up and drank from it without bothering to pour a shot.

Alek laughed at her reaction to her own desire to find love. When she put the bottle down, he pushed his glass forward for her to fill. "Wouldn't it be something if you could find all that in one person."
Alek knew, believed rather, that Dorian couldn't give her peace, adventure, and love. And he was certain Christine was aware of that as well. Once again, Alek just needed for these things to be said aloud so that she would believe him and open herself up to him.

Christine had found that in one person, and that person ripped it all away. Dorian was the greatest adventure she had ever had, and she loved him more than anything. For the short time that they were together she had found peace.
She shook out of her morose thoughts, " I think I have, well I think I'm going to anyway." she replied, "I'm going to make that person myself. Once M is put down for good I'll have peace. Maybe I'll sail on one of my uncle's ships. Maybe I'll build my own and just travel for a while."

Christine had a sort of somber hopefulness in her eyes as she spoke. It was beautiful and excited Alek, but also made him sad for some reason. He ignored the feeling.
He took the shot in front of him and poured another. "Where do you want to sail to?"

"Australia?" she asked unsure of the destination, "Maybe I'll just keep sailing." she said wistfully.
She couldn't outrun her demons, but cultures and new adventures could distract her.
"And you? Where is the HQ of your bid for world domination?"

Alek opened his arms, gesturing around them. "Where ever I am. That's the beauty of being the king."
Alek's pack controlled most of the northern European nations, from Austria to Norway. There were other packs, most of them smaller that laid claim to meager areas that Alek would conquer soon enough. They were currently sitting in "enemy territory" as Hogsmeade was under to control of a passive pack lead by a man named Zander Smith. They wouldn't be hard to overcome but Alek had bigger fish to fry.
Alek wanted all of Europe and that meant he needed to defeat the Deveraux pack who controlled the southern European nations. It had been his father's mission for as long as Alek could remember, forcing the packs into a constant state of war. If he could defeat his father's life long enemy he would truly have proven himself as the Alpha.

It suddenly clicked in Christine's head that Alek was a King. He was a lonely king on a sad little hill. The image entered in her mind and wouldn't be removed. It only made her ache for him, but she knew he would hate it, so she smiled instead.
"Will you be a fair king?"

Christine was wise to keep her thoughts to herself. Alek had a horrid temper and although he enjoyed his time with Christine and he was adamant about his plans to ruin his brother's life, Alek would not have been able to control himself had she mentioned the 'sad little hill' he was perched upon.
Her question amused him and he chuckled. "That depends on your viewpoint, I suppose. What is fair for one man may seem cruel to another."

The jukebox changed and Christine turned to see Vanessa setting up the Karaoke stand. She turned back to Alek a smile on her face.
"A king does what he must for his people." she said estimating whether or not Alek was that kind of man. Finally she nodded, "Alek the King." she lifted her glass and toasted to him.

He gave a short laugh at her toast, but joined her nonetheless. In actuality it was what he wanted. He wanted to be the king. He needed to be the king. Having the control was the only thing that could quiet the hurt, scared little boy inside of him.
Alek looked to the karaoke set being erected and groaned internally. "Good thing we've got the bottle," he said on a laugh. Yes, being drunk would be the only way to make it through this. But Christine was eager for them to make fools of themselves in this dingy little bar and Alek was eager to make her his.

It wasn't the only thing that could quiet the hurt, but it was the only thing he knew of.
She smiled when he resigned himself to karaoke. Being able to laugh at himself and laugh in general were soft things. His father would have beaten him for indulging in it, as well as his revenge scheme.
She poured him a shot, "I'm glad you feel that way." she smiled, "Because I already put your name on the list."

He threw a playful yet menacing look at her. "Devil woman," he scolded. His sighed loudly as his head fell back.
"Here's to making asses of ourselves," he said before throwing back the shot and sliding the glass toward her, signaling for another. A few more and he would have no trepidation about performing.

She kept his glass full. Someone started the show and then a few regulars began to sing all different genres and styles. Christine was both happy and sad that Vanessa hadn't sung yet, otherwise no one else would want to.
Two more shots in and they called Alek's name. Christine smiled and bit her bottom lip in anticipation.

Alek let out a low growl as his name was called, and finished his drink before standing from the table. "You owe me for this," he taunted Christine before heading up to make a fool of himself. Thank Merlin for liquor; he was well at ease in front of the small crowd. He gave his song choice to the girl working the machine and resigned himself to his fate for the next three and a half minutes.

Christine cheered for him, and the bar enjoyed his song. It was a classic bar song and the drunk patrons were happy to sing along. Christine sang along and swayed her hips to the beat.
When he was finished she clapped along with the bar and cheered.
"Put your hands together ladies and gentlemen that was Alek! Great Job. Next up we've got...Christine!"
As the crowd died down Christine smiled and went to the stage taking the microphone from Alek letting their hands linger a bit.

"Good luck, love," he said as he passed her the microphone. He was not unaware of her lingering hand on his.
She sang beautifully, not practiced and polished but she clearly enjoyed herself in front of the ever growing crowd. Alek was surprised to see this gimmick was so popular, but then even he had to admit it was sort of fun drunkenly singing on stage.

The more alcohol they inhaled the more secrets they spilled, and the more Karaoke became the funnest thing in the world. They were a few hours in and had each sung a couple more songs, at some point incorporating table dancing and trick shots.
Christine felt happy, blissful, numb to the problems she had come into the bar with.
