Never go to bed angry. That's what the professionals said, but Diana was stubborn and so was her significant other and couple's advice didn't really apply.
She had a rough time sleeping after he had left. Her mind wouldn't be quiet. She got up half a dozen times to go apologize to him, but stubbornly she sat back down. Finally she fell asleep exhausted, and woke up just as exhausted. They only had an hour or two before they would need to leave. Diana was already packed, she just needed to change and eat something, but she wanted to go over her plans once more.

Christian had an advantage that Diana, in her current state, did not. Enough alcohol helps you sleep. Christian awoke early the next morning and began preparations for their next hit. Diana was stubborn and was refusing his offer to stay on the ship and enjoy the cruise after Ling was taken care of. Never mind the fact that Christian's offer came only after Diana suggested it and Christian belittled her about it. He was trying to repent, but she wouldn't hear it. So Christian would do what Christian did best. He wouldn't let her have an option.
He had packed his bag while Diana slept, throwing extra things for Diana in his bag since she hadn't packed for a vacation and Christian very much intended this to be a relaxing cruise after all was said and done. With his bag readied and placed next to Diana's, he hopped in the shower and washed off the smell of scotch that had managed to linger from the night before.

She was eating by the time he finished with his shower. They usually had a routine that enabled both of them to spend time together, but today they were both very independent. Diana obviously didn't know about the extra things he had packed. She wasn't sure why she had suggested staying on the cruise til finish, maybe she had wanted some time alone with him. Time where they could relax and just be a couple. It was selfish with everything else that was going on - Christian had pointed that out- but she was pregnant, and they were working on getting their daughter back. Their entire relationship was founded upon murder and revenge, yes they were trying to bring their family together, but when all was said and done could they really be a couple? Could they really be parents? Diana realized she needed more time alone with Christian and not for the mission. She needed time to get to know him before she agreed to let him have a say in her entire life.
She was at the dining table, this time instead of the newspaper it was the file Christian had compiled on Ling.

He dressed and fixed his hair. His usual all black work wear would not help him blend in to the background on this mission. Today he wore a pair of denim pants and a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up. He looked around the room and realized he had nothing left to take care of. He headed downstairs for the kitchen.
"Morning," he said as he entered the kitchen. She was already well into her meal, having not bothered to wait for him. He looked her over. She looked no more well rested than any other day this past week. He was certain he was making the right choice in forcing her to stay on the cruise.

At least she had cooked him breakfast as well. She ached for the coffee that would wake her up further, but instead settled on the herbal tea that was stirring itself. "Morning." she replied not lifting her eyes from the paperwork. She could smell him. Merlin did he have to smell so good? As if her hormones weren't on fire enough?
She took a shuddering breath to tamp down her desire to jump him.
She also suddenly found denim jeans to be the best invention in the world.

"Afraid you've missed something?" he asked in reference to the file she was reading. Diana had gone over their plans thoroughly last night. If she was rethinking things now, it meant she was nervous and perhaps unprepared to do the job. Christian was more than willing to take care of Ling himself.

"Just don't want any hiccups." she answered. And I'm avoiding interacting with you, she thought silently.
She sipped on her tea willing it to calm her nerves and settle her stomach. She had taken one of the vials of anti-nausea potion Dr. Hanley had left with her, but she wasn't sure they were working.
"We've got a few minutes. Doesn't hurt."

"You know what else we could do to use up our time..." He raised his eyebrows at her and caressed her leg under the table. Since rekindling their affair, Christian hadn't gone this long without connecting with her. The release could be good for both of them before going into battle.

Diana sucked in a breath as he touched her and closed her eyes. It was amazing what the man could do with a single touch, how her body would light up like Christmas at the merest whisper of his skin against hers. She swallowed. "F*ck it." she said closing the file. No matter what they had, they had this. They needed this. Half of the reason they were still together was the physical communication.
With their clothes off they could say all the things they wanted to say to each other without fear or hesitation. Diana was frantic to communicate with him again.

In one wide sweeping movement the table was cleared of breakfast and soon Diana was sitting on it wrapped around him. If Diana was frantic to talk, Christian was eager to listen. They expressed themselves in only two ways; fighting and having sex. Both were highly passionate events that could last hours if not interrupted. More often than not, the former led to the latter although this past week had proven that was not always the case.

Diana hated the chasm that had risen up between them, but she couldn't be more pleased by the passionate outcome. She felt almost desperate to connect with him and that desperation showed itself physically, almost angrily as they came together.
The affair left her shaky and her legs weak, more from emotional intensity than physical, though there had been plenty of physical intensity. She clung to him not ready to speak and shatter the passion filled bliss.

Christian kissed her and then pulled away. He could feel her hands clinging to him but there would be plenty of time on the cruise. They had a job to get to first.
He smirked at her and helped her off the table then fastened his pants. He kissed her again, taking his time to inhale her scent. "F*ck you're hot," he commented as he smacked her ass. "It's going to be difficult to control myself when you're walking around the ship in a little bikini." He knew it was a very little bikini because he had packed it.

Her legs didn't hold her. She stumbled then gave him a dirty look since it was his fault and she didn't want his ego to inflate any more than it already was. As if he didn't know what he did to her.
She was still too blissfully numb to comprehend the time. When it hit her she jumped to attention willing her legs to work as she dressed herself once again forgetting all about his comment concerning a bikini.

Christian laughed at her rushed behavior and ran a hand through his hair as he retrieved their bags. "Ready? Do you have the portkey?" Christian was trying very hard to not control every aspect of this mission, so long as Diana's plan weren't going to get them killed.

"Y-yes. It's by the door." she said hating that she was still affected by their intimacy. She pushed past him as he came by her and reached for his hand and the umbrella at the same time.
One minute it was early morning beautiful foggy London, the next it was early of evening atop the deck of a large cruise ship smelling the balmy air.

Christian had rarely used portkeys so frequently and was becoming quite accustomed to the sensation in his gut upon arrival. He looked around. The sky was dark but the ship was lit up like a Christmas tree. They stood under a soft yellow light, one of many that lined the walkway of the deck. At the far end Christian saw the swimming pool which glowed pink and blue, the light reflecting off white linen cabanas the pair would certainly be enjoying later. Christian paused and pushed the thought from his mind. He had work to do.

Diana grimaced. The baby was not happy with the twisting sensation of portkey travel. They'd have to start using the floo network.
She took a few deep breaths to quell her stomach. "I'm fine." she said preemptively. Once under control she took the lead moving to Ling's assigned room.

Diana looked pale again and Christian opened his mouth to tell her to go back home, that he would handle it alone since she obviously wasn't up to it. The thought made him angry, as if she'd tricked him. But she recovered before any words could escape his lips and he shrugged the irritation off.
The dynamics of this mission was too different from their last few and Christian was immediately regretting not being more in control of the process. Diana was leading them and Christian brought up the rear. In a two-man operation it should have been reversed, seeing as how their three-man teams featured Christian prominently in the leader role. When he had more time to dwell on it, Christian would find this format almost emasculating.

Diana would have hit him if she knew what was on his mind. Then she would remind him that she had been handling things just fine on her own and that she could handle herself. In her present mood she was happy to cause some mayhem.
"It's this room." she said wand at the ready, "Alohomora!" she hissed as the door unlocked and she let herself in.

Christian's desire to take the lead didn't necessarily come from a place of doubt in Diana's skills, though her recent mood swings and inability to use a portkey without having to push down sick wasn't helping. Christian liked to be in control. It was why they fought so much and why their tumbles in the sheets were so passionate. He liked establishing his dominance over her, and she pushed it right back on him. He'd also had numerous strokes to his ego lately as Burke and Diana discussed the hit wizard who was hired to take out Diana and never missed a mark.
Christian's grip tightened on his wand as he nodded to Diana and followed her into the suite. Ling's style mirrored Hadelman's in that the man had spared no expense during his hiding.
