Diana unconsciously clenched her fists as a spasm of fear went through her. She remembered him using Legilimency on her and it had been one of her biggest fears since finding out she was pregnant.
"No. I remember your abilities perfectly." she said tightly turning away from him, "I trust you can take clean up this mess just as efficiently then?"
She left the room desperately needing some air. She didn't care that her behavior was probably very odd to him.

His brow furrowed in confusion as she left. Diana had never shown hesitance during one of their hits, nor had she been concerned about the aftermath. The last time there was a pile of bodies in a hotel room the mess had barely been cleaned away before they were ravaging each other mere feet from where the men had been murdered. Now she couldn't be in the same room with them. Or was it him she couldn't be with?
Christian held his wand over Ling's and Chrissy's bodies as a black smoke fell like a blanket and covered them until there was nothing left. Christian turned toward the door to find Diana when he heard a sharp tapping on glass. He looked to the wall of windows. Just visible against the starlight was an owl, carrying a letter. Christian moved to the window and let the bird in, who promptly dropped the letter at his feet and few off. Curious, Christian picked up the letter, breaking the wax seal and unfolding the message.
"Brilliant," he said to himself as he strode toward the door after Diana.

It only took her a few minutes to get control over herself, the rest of the time she was enjoying the sea breeze washing over her. She could feel him approach before she heard him.
"I suppose we should be going now." she said only a little reluctantly.

"If that's what you want," Christian said in a tone that didn't agree with his words. He approached Diana from behind and wrapped an arm around her waist, kissing her neck.
"But if we leave, we might miss all the fun." Christian dangled the letter in front of her as he continued his trail of kisses down her neck and onto her shoulder.

Diana made a noise in the back of her throat that signaled capitulation. "Cheating." she said her eyes closed.
Whenever they fought, if it escalated to a boiling point, they would usually end up in bed. But if they fought and the argument had time to simmer, they could go a day or two without sex. Each time that happened whoever wanted to 'admit defeat' without admitting defeat, knew exactly how to break the other person. Christian was breaking her, and as always she was pretty powerless to stop him.
She didn't even notice the letter at first. Her eyes briefly fluttered as he moved to her shoulder and she caught the slip of paper.
"What's that...?" she asked still distracted.

"A letter to Ling," he said between kisses. Christian pulled her hair out of the way and continued to caress her skin with his lips. He moved his hand from her waist, running his fingers lightly down body until his hand disappeared underneath the skirt of her dress. "From the final board member," he said as he made a movement between her thighs to punctuate his words.

Diana was lost the second Christian's hand began to descend from her waist. She knew what was coming.
"Christian." his name was prayer and plea in one.
It took her a minute to register what he had said about Ling receiving a message from the final board member. Her eyes opened, "What?"
She reached for the paper.

Christian smiled as she snatched the letter from his grip, his other hand all but forgotten. He spun her around to face him, then pulled her back toward the privacy of Ling's suite which they would certainly be occupying for the next several days. "Read it in the room," he directed her.

Not forgotten surely, but the letter was distracting. She tried to read it, but Christian jostled her to Ling's room. She was annoyed but only for a moment as she read the words.
"He's meeting Ling at the end of the trip." she said an unreadable expression on her face.
"We have to be there."

Christian nodded, a very sultry smile on his face. They had gotten rid of Ling, that deserved some celebrating in and of itself. But with the mystery board member about to be revealed to them (and Copperbottom under surveillance without Diana's knowing) the end was near. Christian planned to rejoice with Diana all night long.

"I guess we're taking that vacation after all." she said dropping the letter and smiling wickedly at him in return. They had the same line of thought. Ling was dead. They would soon find out about the Mystery Board Member, and it was only a matter of time before they caught up to Copperbottom. It was almost over.

The next morning before Christian showered he unpacked his bag. They would be staying the week and there was no point in living out of a duffle that long. He had packed plenty of items for Diana as well, having been planning to force her to stay on the cruise even before they found out about the meeting with their next hit. Christian thought nothing of the gesture, as any sane woman would have been pleased to find she had enough clothes to last the duration of their trip. But in all honesty there was really no rhyme or reason to what set Diana off lately.
Christian left Diana sleeping in the bed. She had twisted herself in sheet, having tossed and turned most of the night. He didn't understand what was going on in her head, and was still too much of a coward to look for himself. Christian shut the door partway as he got into the shower.

Christian had kept her plenty distracted for most of the night, but as the evening went on her thoughts and dreams got the best of her. They were not pleasant dreams. The last one involved Christian killing her and keeping the Children. In short they were nightmares.
She woke up shaken and cold though she had twisted herself in the sheet.
She had heard him step into the shower and took a deep breath. It was just a dream. Christian loved her. She sighed.
She honestly felt a little guilty and shaken about the dream she had. She emerged from the bed and stood naked looking around the room, she couldn't shake the coldness. With a wicked smile she moved for the bathroom and opened the shower door "How about we save water?" she asked him.

Christian was lost in thought, once again planning the future that was growing ever closer. They would soon be safe to search for Alyx without the threat of her being used for bait or vengeance against Diana. His vision of Alyx fluctuated greatly every time he thought of her and of being a father. Logically he knew she was a teenager, nearly an adult and wouldn't need him to raise her. But he still considered things such as their living arrangements and parenting styles, problems that time had already stolen from them.
Diana and Christian hadn't spoken of their own future together. He assumed she would continue living with him, but with the board members out of the way Diana would be free to reclaim her inheritance and she would be well off without Christian's support. Christian's modest home would be dwarfed in the shadow of Diana's family home, but he couldn't see himself moving in with her. It was archaic, but Christian believed the woman uprooted her life for the man. He knew Diana wouldn't agree and that would lead to arguments which would lead to sex which definitely didn't lead to talking things through.
He was nearly done when Diana joined him. He turned as she opened the door to the shower, a wicked grin on her face. Christian's expression mirrored hers as her pulled her in. There was no way any water would be saved by the time they were done.

Diana didn't notice her clothing until some time later. After their shower, which had moved to the bedroom, then back to the shower, and a lot of water wasted later, she was digging through his clothing for a shirt to wear as she normally did. Instead she found her own clothing.
"What the f*ck?" she was confused for all of one minute until it hit her that Christian had packed for her. At first she found it thoughtful, then she recalled telling him that she didn't intend to stay for the vacation. He packed for her anyway because he planned on keeping her there no matter what she said.
"What the f*ck?" she repeated throwing one of the articles of clothing he had packed for him at his feet.

Christian rolled his eyes as Diana threw a shirt at him. He had been expecting a few more moments of peace after their latest tryst but with Diana he had to always be ready. "Most people would say 'thank you'. I suppose those words are too foreign for you though."

"Most people don't like their plans being thrown in their face." she retorted angrily, "Why couldn't you just let it go? Do you always have to be in control of every little thing? Do you have to try and control me too?" she asked spitting out some of her irrational fears. She gave him a disgusted scowl, conjured herself clothing and left the room.

He should have expected her reaction. He actually had anticipated it while he was packing her things at his house, but the excitement of the mission had pushed it to the back of his head and he hadn't been prepared for it. If he had, he would have had a snappy retort out before she slammed the door behind her. All he could manage was "ungrateful bi-" before he stopped himself and angrily picked up the shirt she had thrown at his feet.
Diana would calm down enough to return later, or she wouldn't and she'd find something else to do. It didn't matter to Christian. He had gotten his way; Diana was on a vacation that she desperately needed. At least one woman in his life, his mother, would be happy about that. Realizing that he had no need for nudity now that Diana had gone, he dressed.

Diana knew why she was mad, she knew that she was also unreasonably mad, and the flightiness of her emotions made her want to cry. She had perfected cool detachment and complete control over herself, all of that seemed to go out the window once she heard that she was expecting.
She made her way to the bar and ordered a bourbon.
She toyed with the glass of her drink savoring the smell, which suddenly turned her stomach.

Diana hadn't returned by the time he had put his clothes on and ran a comb through his hair, and Christian had no plans of waiting around for her either. He left the room and wandered around the ship. It looked different in the sunlight than it had when he and Diana had sneaked aboard and danced at the outdoor disco. There were people everywhere and as Christian passed the pool his gaze lingered on the pretty young bodies laid out in the sun.
True to character, Christian made his way to the bar. He was not surprised to see Diana there as well. Drinking was their third favorite past time, right after sex and fighting. Christian sidled up next to her and ordered a scotch without so much as a glance at Diana. When his drink came he turned his back to the bar, leaning against it as he looked again at the attractive twenty-somethings that passed.
