To say that Damon was disappointed was an understatement. "You know her from work?" he said, making a face. "That's it? And you haven't gone further than that? You know, the only good thing about your job--and Hayden's too--is that you must meet a lot of hot girls, and you never take advantage of it. Seriously, if I had your job, I'd have so many girls I wouldn't know what to do with them all. You guys are wasting your potential."
He shook his head, frustrated. It hadn't yet occurred to Damon that Sean was going to turn down any girl he suggested, but there was something about the way Sean kept trying to turn the topic back to Hayden that seemed... suspicious. Suddenly, he narrowed his eyes and leaned in a little closer to Sean. "You know what I think? I think you've got a secret. And I'm going to find out what it is."

Would he describe Lydia as hot? Paige was incredibly attractive, he would give her that. And Lydia was just... She was jaw dropping. He supposed he could call her hot, but it wasnt in him to really phrase things that way. He was too much of a gentleman. And Merlin, he needed to stop thinking about Lydia.
He leaned forward as well, matching Damon's offensive move. "Go ahead and try." It wasn't quite what he meant to say, and he realized Damon would accept this challenge. "And for the record, I think Paigeis seeing someone. Girls like Paige are never single." he didnt mean this in a bad way, just that guys liked her and she didn't have to work to find companionship. He would have said the same of Nathalia, too.

It was nice to be out. Caroline couldnt deny that. She knew, of course, that Jordan would take her out any time she asked, but he never seemed to enjoy it anymore. In turn, it brought her down, and inevitably, they would start fighting about it. So when Paige, a girl she met when she and Jordan first moved to Godric's Hallow, said she was off early and suggested meeting up at Stu'a, Caroline didn't hesitate to say yes. She would be gone when Jordan came home.
Stepping into the less than reputable bar, Caroline only had to do a quick scan of the place to find Paige and Nathalia, who was working. She nearly sauntered past the table of boys and up to the girls, saying hello as she sat next to the brunette.

Nathalia shrugged. "Another day, another dollar. Things are good, though." She shrugged. There wasn't much else she could say about life at the moment. Except...
"Look, be discreet, but check out that table by the door. See the blonde by the window? He just asked me to dinner on Tuesday. After thoroughly rejecting me a couple weeks ago. What's that about?"
She glanced up and smiled as Caroline came in. Thank Merlin- at least she didn't feel as awkward now that she had friends around her.

"So you don't deny it," Damon said with a grin. "Interesting... well, now I have to find out what it is. I was just teasing before..."
Of course, Damon didn't know that Sean had at least two secrets, and had been keeping one of them for a very long time. But ironically, Sean's biggest secret wouldn't have been very interesting to Damon. Sean was already too serious, too tragic, too inclined to carry the weight of the world on his shoulders. But if Damon were to find out about Lydia... well, that would be a different story altogether.
When the blonde woman walked into the bar, Damon followed her with his eyes. She was gorgeous, and probably completely out of any of their leagues. But again, that rarely ever stopped Damon.
"OK, now Sean, you can't tell me she's not your type...."

Paige was about to turn around and take a look at the guy in question, but Caroline's arrival distracted her for just a minute. "Hi, Caroline," she greeted the woman with a friendly smile. "Glad you could make it on such short notice."
It was a new thing for Paige, having female friends. When she was a dancer, she hadn't had any friends at all. There was always a heavy amount of competition among dancers--a lot of backstabbing, whispering, and gossiping. Everyone pretended to be your friend, while talking about you behind your back. But now things were starting to change for Paige. Maybe it had started with Austin, or maybe making up with Chloe... or maybe just the change of career. A year ago, Paige would never have been able to stand in the same room, let alone be so friendly with girls like Nathalia and Caroline. All three of them were tall and thin and gorgeous, but there had been a time when Paige would have hated these two women, thinking that they were prettier or thinner than she was. Maybe there was still a little of that in the back of her mind... but at least she didn't feel motivated to starve herself again. She was coming a long way.
Looking back at Nathalia, she smiled slightly. "I'd look, but they're watching us right now, aren't they?"

Sean's eyes followed the girl as well. He was more inclined to notice details that he was sure Damon missed. It was part of the job, really, as he'd just been trained to notice these things. So the fact that she hadn't even glanced at their table was the first thing he noticed. Next was the ring on her left hand.
"She's pretty," he consented, but shook his head. "Not my type, though. Too high maintanance. And you're right about the brunette thing." There, he'd give Damon something to latch on to, so his friend wouldn't think he was asexual or anything.

Damon peered over at the blonde again, making no attempt to be subtle. "Yeah, she probably is high maintenance. Still, I wouldn't mind maintaining her, if you know what I mean..."
He laughed at his own joke, but then turned back to his friends. "But I've got the hot teacher, and it doesn't seem right for me to go flirting with other girls before I know if there's anything there. See? I'm not a total cad. I could talk to her on your behalf, though, T, if you wanted," he added, looking over at his silent friend.
"What's most interesting," Damon continued, glancing over his shoulder at the girls again, "is that they all seem to know each other. If just one more girl walked in, we could have one for each of us. Preferably a brunette for Mr. Picky over here..."

Sean, however, took another sip of his drink, finishing his second one, and he was tempted to nudge Hayden to go get a third round. Finishing off the glass, his lips pulled to the side, and he made a clicking sound with his tongue. The alcohol hadn't quite hit yet, but the full night's sleep had, and he felt his bravery kicking in.
Staring at his now empty glass with a smirk on his lips, he quietly murmured, "There's only one brunette I want to walk in that door."
His eyes lifted and met Damon's, a flash of a challenge in them, before he finally looked at Hayden. "You're gonna need to go flirt with your girl again soon, because I'm running dry. And don't get involved with the newest blonde, T. She's married."

"Of course I'd made it. What else do I do with my time? I shouldn't stay out too late though... Jordan will be home in a little bit."
Nathalia set her up with a drink rather quickly, and she took it, wrapping her long fingers around it. "Who's looking at us? What am I missing?" She asked, and not being the subtlest of the group, she turned her head, eyes locking on the table of boys. One of them was looking their way, and their eyes met for a moment. Caroline smiled, and turned back to the two girls. "Okay, I don't know who they are, but they are definitely looking at us."
Caroline had never had to be subtly. When she was a teenage, boys followed her around like puppies, no matter what she did. And it hadn't really mattered after school, since she had Jordan and wasn't trying to flirt with anyone else. In a way, because of this, she was the least shy of them, too.

Damon's eyes connected with the blonde for a brief moment, and he saw the confidence, and the challenge in her eyes. He would have been lying if he said he wasn't intrigued... but Sean's words, spoken so quietly that Damon almost missed them, tore his attention away immediately.
"A-ha!" he said triumphantly, pointing at Sean. "I knew it! You've been holding out on us, mate. I knew even you couldn't live like a complete monk. I want details... Wait, did you say the blonde was married?"
He turned around and looked at her again, and although he was too far away from her to see the wedding ring, there was something in her posture and the way she had looked straight into Damon's eyes that seemed to back up this claim. "Yeah, I guess she would be. A girl like that could never be single... She's probably married to some rich old guy or something. Or a bodybuilder."
He turned back to Sean. "All right, now about this mystery brunette..."

Well, so much for being subtle. Now that Caroline had already checked out the guys, there was no point in being polite anymore. Paige figured she would just have to check the guys out for herself.
"OK, so which one asked you out?" she said to Nathalia. "The one by the door, you said?"
Without waiting for Nathalia's answer, she turned around to look at the table of guys. Three of them were blonde, she noticed immediately. One had his back to them at the moment, but as Paige looked over at them, she saw him look back at them, giving Caroline a not-so-subtle once-over. Next her eyes fell on the one closest to the door, who was the only one facing them directly, although he was not looking at them.
"He's cute," Paige said, nodding her approval. "He looks really serious."
But then the third blonde caught her attention, and Paige broke into a smile. "Wait, I know that one," she said. "I think I'll just go over and say hi."
Abruptly she stepped down from the barstool and walked over to the table of boys. "Hi, Sean," she greeted him. "Nice to see you."

Caroline's eyebrows went up as Paige abruptly got up and started walking towards the table of boys. "How do you know one of them?" She asked, though Paige was already gone and she didn't expect an answer. She glanced at Nathalia, who shrugged.
"Well, that's not fair. I want to know one of them," she decided, half jokingly, but she flashed Nathalia a wide, pearly white smile and slid off of her own barstool and took off after Paige.
Coming up next to her friend, Caroline did not show any level of shyness as she flashed the table that same smile. "Hey," she said to the group at large.

Nathalia almost laughed at Caroline. Was that what being married did? Just made you completely bold when it came to guys checking you out? She supposed it made sense, since Caroline wasn't exactly looking for a guy right now. She shared an amused glance with Paige, though.
"Yeah, by the door. I don't know how I feel about the whole thing. Do you think he's too serious?"
And then, suddenly, they were both on their feet. "Wait, guys, no.... God," she groaned, realizing they were both gone and there was no stopping them now. It left her awkwardly behind the bar, and she moved to check on the two old women to stop herself from watching what was happening at the boy's table.

Sean made no reaction to Damon other than to nod, lifting his left hand and touching his thumb to his ring finger, silently indicating that he had, in fact, seen a ring there. He hoped Damon would continue to speculate on this, but no such luck. The conversation was turned back to him, and his attention was on Damon. He didn't even see Paige approach.
But Merlin, he could have kissed her for her timing (and wouldn't that send Damon into fits). Ignoring his girl crazy friend, he stood up, pushing away from the table.
"Paige! Good to see you," he said, deciding to go for it to drive Damon nuts, and he gave the girl a quick hug. "Such a small world... I didn't really take Stu's for your kind of place."
By now, the married blonde had joined them, and Sean introduced himself. Then, for both girls, he went around the table, naming the other three guys. "Do you want to sit? We could pull up a couple extra chairs."

Paige was a little surprised by the hug, but she hugged him back lightly. She could tell by the energy at the table that she had probably picked a good time to approach them.
"It's good to see you, too... It's been a little while. We seem to be working different cases these days."
She smiled slightly as Caroline approached and turned toward her friend. "Well, we're friends of Nathalia's, so we stopped in to see her," she replied. "This is Caroline... It's nice to meet you guys." Her gaze lingered on Hayden, the one who had asked Nathalia out. This was a perfect opportunity to feel him out, and give her opinion to Nathalia.

It was probably the only moment when Damon could have been disappointed that the two girls had come over. He wanted to hear more about the mystery brunette that Sean was evidently so loyal to. Of course, he knew he probably wouldn't get much out of Sean on that topic, but he had brought it up after all, so it was definitely fair game.
But then Paige come over, followed by the blonde. Damon took this opportunity to look down at the blonde's hands, and sure enough, he spotted the wedding ring. And yet, here she was, approaching them. Merlin, she was even more gorgeous up close. Damon wondered just how loyal she was to her husband--not that he would encourage such behavior.
"Nice to meet you ladies," Damon said, standing up and offering his hand to the blonde first, then Paige. "I'm Damon. Let me just go pull up some chairs for you ladies."

Caroline met Damon's eyes, aware that he was looking her over. She didn't mind- Caroline loved the attention. But she was also very aware that he didn't look at her like Jordan looked at her. If he cares to find out, he would realize quickly that she would flirt, but she was loyal to Jordan. She could show other people that she loved her husband, she just wasn't very good at showing him.
"Nice to meet you all," she murmured as introductions were made. Her eyebrows raised as Damon moved to get two more chairs, and she glanced over her shoulder at Nathalia. The barmaid was obviously trying very hard not to look in their direction.
"I suppose we can join you for a few.@

Hayden nearly laughed as the two girls came over to their table. He gave a look to Sean that said he wanted to know about this brunette girl. If Hayden opened up and spoke about Nathalia, Sean could tell him about the brunette. Fair was fair. For once, he wanted to tease Sean, but Paige's presence caused him to keep his mouth shut. Although the look in Hayden's eye at Sean told his friend that this wasn't over yet.
"Nice too meet you Paige and Caroline," he said greeting them with a half smile. He glanced in the direction of the bar for a quick moment but Nathalia wasn't looking. Looking back down to his drink, Hayden took a drink. Remembering his pleasantries, he looked back between the two. "How are you two?"

When Damon returned with the chairs, Paige took hers and carefully positioned it between Sean and Hayden. While she might have "officially" come over to visit with Sean, it was really Hayden that she was curious about. After all, wasn't that what friends were supposed to do for each other? Check out their potential dates and feel them out? She was pretty sure that was the kind of thing friends did for each other.
Her first impression was that he was very serious, and that hadn't changed now that she was up close to him. He was a bit quiet, very polite... not like the more dynamic Damon, who was undoubtedly planning to test Caroline's fidelity to her husband. Damon was closer to the kind of guy Nathalia would usually date. The same for Paige, actually. But Hayden... he was more like Austin.
"I'm doing all right," she replied, leaning just a little closer to him. "So... Hayden, you said your name was? What do you do, Hayden?"
