Severus perked up at Justine's voice. "Hello! I'm just glad to be here...I had to convince my parents...it helped that I had already had the paper work signed." he added looking about shifty eyed. He had pressured his parents, like a good slytherin, he had the forethought of learning how to copy his parents names without the aid of magic, it made it nearly impossible to be detected by magic.

Dean Hallowell walked into the camp's dining hall and looked around. All the little kids were looking so excited and happy. He was neither of those things. It had been a very long time since he'd been what could be considered happy. Now, he was feeling strangely detached. He found it hard to imagine that he could ever care about any of this. He'd hated Hogwarts, he'd hated the students, he pretty much hated everything. And he didn't expect camp to be any better. But he also hoped maybe now he could begin to exercise his strength and prove what he could be capable of. Now that he was a counselor, he was going to make the kids he was supposed to support completely miserable. For the first time in a long time, Dean cracked a smile and slid into a chair at the end of the Slytherin table.

Bellatrix entered the dining hall and looked around, spotting many of her friends already in conversation. There was an empty seat next to Dean, and so she took it. Noticing his usually non-existent smile, she cocked an eyebrow in his direction. "What are you so happy about?"

Lily walked into what looked like the dining hall. She looked around then walked over to where most of the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws were sitting. She smiled, "Hey, guys."

Dean turned and looked at Bellatrix in amusement. "Oh, so the queen actually deigns to acknowledge my existence?" he said in a wry tone. "I'm flattered. As for why I'm happy, I was just anticipating the damage I'll be able to do as a counsellor to impressionable children."

"Don't press your luck Hallowell," she said warningly in reference to his snotty tone. She could easily ignore him as she had the past seven years, if he didn't watch himself.
"Now, now. We are supposed to be upright, rule abiding models...for these....children..." She couldn't help but laugh, and couldn't even keep her usually straight face. She had been thinking something along the same lines as Dean when it came to keeping an eye on the younger children over the summer.

"Yeah, right... rule abiding," Dean said with a snort. "I was so good at breaking rules at school that no one ever even knew I was doing it. Remember that time in fifth year when all the Gryffindors sprouted beards at dinner? Yeah, that was me." He laughed. "I suppose I could have taken credit for it then, but it was more fun to have it be a mystery and listen to everyone trying to speculate who it was." He leaned back and looked at her appraisingly. "So, what made you decide to come and sit with me? Where's your boyfriend?"

Lucius looked around and noticed Bellatrix was talking to Dean, the silent Slytherin. He'd never so much as heard the boy's voice before. Curious, he wandered over to where they were sitting. "Is this a private conversation, or can anyone join?"

Kris watched Remus as he talked with his friends out of the corner of her eye. She wanted to keep an eye on him, incase something happened or someone bothered him.

"Cocky little prat, aren't you Hallowell," she said with a slight smile. She remembered the Gryffindor/beard fiasco. She had thought it quite entertaining and never would have suspected it was Dean who was behind all of it. She scooted closer to him, running her fingers across the back of his hand. "Because I want you Dean," she answered in a mock seductive tone, eying him lustfully.
It was then that Lucius joined them, and she stopped pretending with Dean and smiled sincerely. "Wotcher Lucius. Don't be silly, of course you can join. Dean was just inquiring as to Rodolphus' whereabouts. You haven't seen him have you?" She could never keep track of him and often wondered if he was not off with other girls.

Dean grinned back at her, enjoying her touch. He'd always found her attractive, as well as her sister, Narcissa. But then she pulled away and began talking to Malfoy. "Haha, very funny," he said sarcastically. "Malfoy, what do you want? Shouldn't you be off washing your hair or something?"

Dumbledore looked around the dining hall, taking a mental inventory. It seemed some students were missing, but it really was time to get started. He stood up and cleared his throat.
"Students--or should I say, campers--if you will please take your seats, I think we will begin the opening ceremony. Just as with school, you will first be sorted. However, you will not be sorted according to your Hogwarts houses. I want you all to learn to work together in small groups, to achieve various goals. You will be teams, and as such you must demonstrate teamwork. So when I call out your names, you will be seated according to these teams. Is that clear, everyone?"
Without waiting for an answer, he took out a piece of parchment and began to read:

Bella slapped Lucius playfully on the arm. "Be nice," she scolded him. She was about to ask again if Lucius had seen Rodolphus but at that moment Professor Dumbledore stood and began speaking. She turned, giving him her attention and listened to the list of names he read off. She heard hers, and was instantly annoyed at the names that followed. "I think I'm going to have to kill myself now," she said sarcastically to the boys beside her.

Mac walked into the Hall as Dumbledore was saying Aaron Holmes' name. After Aaron was Mac's own name so figuring that meant they would be doing something together, Mac went over to Aaron and sat down. "Hey, anything important yet?" he asked in a whisper.
As Peter rushed into the hall, he saw Dumbledore clap his hands together. Trying to figure out if he was early or late, Peter stumbled over to where Remus and James were sitting. He sat down next to James and inquired, "Have I missed anything important?"
