Fiona was incapable of seeing anything bad about Augustus. She had him so idealized in her mind that, if ever there came a day when she would learn the kind of man he truly was, it would leave her utterly shattered.
"He could make me happy," Fiona said, convinced. "But I'm not worthy. And I don't belong in this place... I hardly ever leave my office, actually. The lights hurt my eyes."

Arystar could of dealt with having a car park on his head. It didn't make any sense, unless he was a very bad judge of character, which he didn't feel like he was that bad a judging people. he was, however, still curious. "I used to take care of all my grandfathers' things, even though it had been years since he died. I didn't think I was worth any more than to take care a house full of things that weren't mine. I don't think that anymore, So I wonder, what exactly are you worthy of, if all you have is work...and that man that doesn't see you." he motioned his head toward Rookwood, but still was facing Fiona with his arms crossed. Curious and confused. Cory curious and confused, like always. He wondered if he ever seemed as bad as Fiona toward the duty he felt toward his grandfather's things, he thought it and doubted it. Deeply and truly when he thought of taking care of something that wasn't his like he had, he had hated it.

Fiona didn't know what to say to that. She supposed that, to the outside observer, she must seem somewhat sad. She was awkward, clumsy, uncertain, and painfully shy. While a woman like the blone currently draping herself all over Augustus seemed to ooze confidence and sex, Fiona oozed... what? Social ineptitude? She could never be like the blonde, but maybe just being herself wasn't good enough. If only there was somehappy medium that Fiona could find! A sort of comfort in her own skin.
"He sees me. He gives me a lot of responsibility at work," she defended weakly. "And he did bring me here. I don't know why, but he did."

"Are you sure it's responsibility and not just being lazy?" he put up his hands defensively "Just asking! I don't mean to imply that you're lazy or that he is! I don't know him" He peered at her a little uncertainly, "but as a real question." He paused a moment and took a breath and let it out in a short huff " Personally I'm not seeing a point to any of this... It isn't me..." and on that thought he actually wondered who he was. He wasn't sure if he could answer that thought at the moment either.

Fiona looked hurt. She wasn't even sure why she had come over to talk to the man, except that she couldn't bear to sit so closely by while Augustus flirted with the beautiful blonde.
"You seem to have an awful lot of opinions about my life. If you're so smart, I would think you would be better able to control your own life. I only came over to be nice, because she was so rude to you, but obviously, I'm just in your way, so I guess I'll go."
She turned around and started to walk away, even though she really had no idea where she would go.

"Your's and mine!" he hadn't meant to blurt that out, but he did and he spun to stare at her retreating back "Thank you for being nice to me...I'm also not used to that. Sorry though..." He had wanted to understand her, as if understanding her would help him understand a bit of himself. Now he was alone again, but actually feeling lonely. "I'll just be going now." he muttered more to himself than to anyone else, not that anyone in the room seemed to care. It heaved and swung to yet another song, by some one else he had never heard of before. Well, he wasn't anyone's pumpkin at least. He hesitated before turning toward the front of the club, He felt bad for Fi. Not that she'd care if he pitied her or not.

But leaving was not in the cards for Arystar, not yet anyway.
Quinn had only just arrived, having slipped away from Korbel to indulge in a little bit of fun. She did love Korbel, but sometimes she just needed to cut loose for a little while. And yes, that included a little bit of flirting. She knew that Korbel didn't like it, but Quinn figured that it couldn't really hurt anything if she only danced a little, but still went home to him.
She cast her eyes around the room, looking for someone she could have a bit of fun with. Really, she wasn't picky, but anyone already with someone else was just too much trouble. Her eyes fell on the first guy standing alone. And that just happened to be Arystar.
She walked up to him with her confident swagger, and smiled sweetly. "Hi there," she said. "Buy a girl a drink?"

Arystar stopped dead in his tracks. This was bordering on the outrageous! Maybe he was better looking than he had thought, all sorts of women had at least tried to flirt with him. This one was another pretty brunette, she looked like she lived for a night out on the town. He was again at a loss. "Ah, Don't know very much about drinks!" He had meant it to mean that he would like the company, but would of preferred her to pick her own. Instead it sounded like a refusal. "Ah, What I mean to say is...yes?" He would probably end up sticking his foot in his mouth, he was almost sure of it, but it seemed like the night's journey was on rails and he wouldn't get off them until he crashed at some point along the way. He wasn't getting any better at introductions this night. He was wrestling with the idea of introducing himself now or waiting until she asked, She could every well never ask. Arystar was almost on the verge of understanding that no one he would meet at a club would ever really want to know him as a friend, everyone seemed to have their own agenda.

Quinn just smiled. "Good," she said. Turning to the bartender, she winked and said, "I'll have a firewhiskey."
As the bartender was getting her drink, she turned back to Arystar and looked at him more carefully. He was cute, in an odd sort of way. He had an air about him similar to that of a lost puppy. The confusion, the sense of being completely out of place, these were all apparent in him. He smelled of alcohol, expensive perfume (probably from some other woman he had danced with), and uncertainty. She wasn't sure it was the most intoxicating combination of smells, but she was interested, anyway. Who could resist a lost puppy?
"You got a name, Sailor?" she asked, quirking an eyebrow at him.

Arystar tried squaring his shoulders a little "Arystar. What may I ask, is yours?" That probably sounded too formal, was his mental rejoiner. He was sure she was sizing him up, like the way Shawna had sized him up. He was starting to get better at picking up the signs of it. What he noticed however was that subtler women did it differently than the way Shawna had. She was hungry in her need for company, this one seemed to want a gambol or some sport. Well, he had wanted an experience. If anything Arystar wanted most was to experience the world, unfortunately he wasn't getting to the good parts yet.

Her drink had arrived, and Quinn took a sip from the glass. "Arystar," she repeated. "Cool name. I'm Quinn."
She hadn't decided what she wanted with him, or even if she wanted anything at all. She could be trouble, or she could be friendly, depending on her mood at the time. Right now, she really just wanted to have a little fun. Just kick off her shoes (and maybe more) and have a good time, like she did before she became Korbel's mate.
"So, what are you doing here? If you don't mind my saying so, you look a little lost. Take a wrong turn on the way to the library?"

Arystar raised his eyebrows and shrugged and said more to himself than her casting his gaze toward the floor "What am I doing here? No idea, I thought it might be fun." He brought his gaze back toward Quinn. "Thank you, I'm lost." he smiled emptily at her. He looked around and asked her "What do you do here? I'm think I'm just trying to understand it at the moment." He had resolved to keep his inner voice silent, He would pick apart how horrible he was at communication later.

Quinn's eyes widened. "What do I do here? You don't get out much, do you?"
Then she smiled. "I like to come here, get a drink, and then just dance. I love to dance... just cut loose and let the music take me, you know? Maybe I'll flirt a little... or maybe I'll just dance. Whatever. Some people come to meet someone... hoping they'll meet just that perfect person. I don't. I already got him, back at home. So I flirt, but it's strictly hands off."

She was at least up front in her intentions, Arystar decided he liked that. He smiled in his bright way and said "Drinking, Dancing and over all teasing. That's pretty much what I've done! I thought I was doing things wrong." he laughed. "Some of the women here I think like to eat human flesh. It's almost scary." He smiled at his own joke. totally unaware that he actually was talking to a woman that had the tendency toward human flesh.

Quinn threw her head back and laughed. It seemed like a giggle, and yet, her husky voice made it sound oddly deep and throaty. "I don't doubt it," she said. "I've heard that sometimes vampires and werewolves hang out here. And you'd never know... they could look just like everyone else. You have to be careful.... especially with the vampires."
Maybe Quinn was starting to mellow out, but she felt a little sorry for this guy. He was odd and out of place. He'd be all too easy for someone to take advantage of. A few years ago, Quinn might have done just that.
Her drink finished, she set down her glass. "How's about a dance?"

Arystar smiled again like a giant sign over his head flashed 'new friend!' "Ok!" he was a little concerned by vampires and werewolves, he had read about them, but never actually met either one of the kind. "It's a little scary...Vampires I mean, but they do still are like human aren't they? couldn't you just sort of talk them out of eating you?" He knew it sounded childish, but he figured if they had been human, they would still be able to reason right? "I'm not as concerned about a werewolf... It's not a full moon tonight anyway." he smiled again. Oblivious to the idea that some werewolves would hold a person hostage until a full moon, or track people down just to attack them.
*DARLING NAIVE BOY!*

Quinn smiled mysteriously. "Well, vampires are definitely a concern... you can't spot them just by looking at them, and by the time you realize what they are, it's usually too late. They look human, but really, there is a demon inside. You couldn't talk them out of biting you... they have very little humanity left. Your best bet is to be prepared to fight."
Like most werewolves, Quinn hated vampires, so her warning was actually genuine. She hated to see anyone fall victim to those bloodsuckers.
"But never underestimate werewolves. They are still human except during the full moon... but some of them can be quite cruel. Living on the edge of sanity like that, fighting for control.... it does things to a person."
In her wildest days, Quinn had been quite vicious in her own right. How many men still bore the cursed scars she had left behind in the heat of the moment? They were not werewolves, but their seemingly innocent wounds would never fully heal, and they would crave raw meat.

"That doesn't sound pleasant." Arystar frowned. "I've honestly never had to fight anyone before, I'm not sure how well I'd do." he smiled at Quinn and shrugged. "I guess I'll have to carry around a crucifix or some other holy item. What works on them anyway? Hey! you've run into one before haven't you! you seem to know about them and how they come into this club! Did you use garlic? I heard that works, but it sounds so phony!" His bookish nature was coming out, he honestly liked learning new things, it didn't usually matter what about.

"I've run into one or two before," Quinn said. It was the truth. But of course, vampires wouldn't dare touch her. No one wanted to start another flare-up of the old werewolf-vampire war.
"I don't know about the garlic. I've never tried it. I believe the crucifix will work, or holy water, but you'd never catch me with those things. I just fight them off with my bare hands... I'm actually freakishly strong. And if you have the nerve, a stake to the heart will kill them."
She giggled. "You're kinda cute, you know that?"

Arystar blushed, she didn't seem the type to 'just say things' to kindly boost someone's ego. "No! Had no idea!" he gulped and thought of actually stabbing a person in the heart, he shuddered. "that sounds too...gruesome, I don't think I could...I don't even like eating chicken legs because of the joint." that also made him shudder. She didn't look like she was strong, but he didn't want to try her strength. It would be his luck to try to 'pick a fight with a girl' and end up on his rear. "It's a good thing too! I can't Imagen that you'd be here if you weren't strong. You've managed to get away from two? You must of had to apprate away as well!" he was impressed, she had to have skill and wit to out wit a demon like a vampire.
