Roxanna relaxed a bit. She was glad to know she wasn't the only one who never had a date. "Thank you," She said, smiling, "I know it will be a lot of fun." She just needed to open up a bit, talk without taking up all the time, and allow him to talk as well. She smiled wider, allowing herself to relax a bit more. They made it out to the Great hall, where some people were outside the doors. It didn't seem like anyone was really going in except the champions. "Um," Nick said, "Do you know where we're supposed to...go?" he laughed a little and blushed.

She was a little more at ease when he mentioned that they had kissed before, as children of course it had been innocent. As sanity was slowly being returned to her a blissful feeling entered into her heart and she stopped walking letting it wash over and through her, she smiled again turning up to him every confidence in the world shining in her eyes. She leaned into him as they walked not concealing the pure look of adoration on her face.
"Thank you."

"You are very welcome," he said with his wide grin. Josh didn't think anything could really wipe off his smile at the moment.
If he wouldn't have looked a little ridiculous, Josh would have skipped down the hall just to make her laugh. He wasn't sure what was quite stopping him from doing so but he remained calm as they walked toward the Great Hall.
"Personally, I think that we should tease Lance and Viv when they get here," he said with a playful look in his eye. "After all, I do love to see if I could make them blush...."

Roxanna was surprized at the thought that she might be early for the dance; she was never early for anything. She looked around at everyone else standing outside. "Uhm, I think it's safe to say we wait here," She said, looking to Nick and smiling, "I think they might call everyone in when it's starting."

God, that girl could bring a grown man to his knees, Cameron thought as she looked over her shoulder at him. He had a thing for girls who knew what they had and used it, and for some reason he couldn't explain, a little tug to the tie would always turn him on. "You keep this up, Brenda, and we're not even going to make an appearance at this dance," he said, taking a couple of quick steps to catch up to her and put his arm around her waist, walking with her up to the staircase. Well, she did want to make an appearance, but she didn't care if it was a long one. It wasn't for the spectacle of the ball, or the dancing, or any of that. Really, she just wanted to create a scandal in her too-short halter dress. Every other girl was dressed head to toe in taffeta and tulle, but Brenda wouldn't be caught dead looking like Fairy Princess Barbie. No, she wanted to stand out, and dressed as she was, that was pretty much guaranteed to happen. She knew the guys would gawk and the girls would start gossiping. At least, she hoped they would. "We don't have to stay long," she purred. "But I do so enjoy getting you all revved up."

Severus opened the doors of the Grand ball room, It was with a little too much of a push or too much of a flourish and they both opened wider than they really needed to be open. He felt like he was caught doing something wrong, standing there with Natalie's hand in his in the middle of the wide doors looking into the large ballroom. Standing awkwardly for a moment he cleared his throat and turned to Natalie. "Shall we?" a small smile playing on his lips, hiding to most everyone else that he was nervous. He felt the flutter of pride and happiness in his chest and his smile quirked a bit higher. He was happy to have Natalie as his 'date', proud of the fact that she liked him and thrilled to be in a ball where he thought he would never go with anyone.

She'd have to stop blushing first. She felt at once warm and tingly inside and the feeling wasn't going away. It only deepened her smile to have his arms around her, holding her and knowing that she was special to him. "Mmhmm.." she agreed though she wasn't paying attention to his words, her entire focus was on him, the sound of his voice, the scent that was distinctly him, but comprehension was beyond her.

Meanwhile Lilac was doing the same thing. She had dressed up in the appropriate robes and truly looked beautiful. She thought surely were her father to see her he'd have been proud, for now however she wished to see her brother and hope he was proud as well. Except...he was always proud of her, and she of him. He seemed to love her without conditions, and without rules. She didn't have to work to make him smile and that was a gift in itself for her. For the moment she was simply waiting for her brother to come in the room. Vic looked in a mirror that was in the hallway, making sure his robes and hair were still neatly done after aparating here to Hogwarts. Vic had gotton the night off in advance when he learned about the yule ball happening at Hogwarts. and when Ethan had mentioned in passing that his sister didn't have a date to the ball, Vic thought he'd come and surprise her. He walked into Hogwarts and immediately felt homesick. It hadn't even been a year since he graduated from the school, and Vic still from time to time missed the 7 years he had spent here. He saw Lilac in the hall and stopped, smiling kindly. He had to say, she did an excelent job getting ready for tonight, she looked lovely. "Well well Miss Drake," Vic smiled as he reached earshot. "You look absolutely beautiful."

A familiar voice sounded in her ear and she gasped before turning around, then she gasped again, "Vic!" there was no hesitation in hurling herself into his arms despite her poised appearance. She looked so much the proper lady but it was also apparent that she was growing up into quite a woman.
Stepping back from him she asked excitedly, "What are you doing here?"

Allaire had gotten wrapped up in another book again while she had waited for Lani, Justine, Ophelia, and Kassia to finish. Once Ophelia had left, Allaire looked in the mirror again. Since when did she really care about her appearance? Usually, she only looked in the mirror once or maybe twice and that was it. Tonight, she had mentally counted three times. Sighing, Allaire left her book on Ophelia's bed. She would come back and get it before she went to sleep.
Slowly, she made her way to the stairs. Her dress didn't quite reach the floor, nor did it poof out. The dress just flowed and moved whenever she moved. Allaire was thankful Fee didn't hand her something huge.
Allaire wasn't accustomed to wearing heels, but the small ones she borrowed from Kassia fit fairly well and were pretty easy to walk in. Reaching the stairs, she took in a deep breath and started down them to the common room.

"Glad you're not going to try and talk me out of that one." Maybe he would just because Lance was his twin, but then maybe he would be too occupied to really say anything. Arriving where the other students were gathering, Josh left his arm around Eve. "Well, looks like we're not late for anything," he commented. Grinning down at her, Josh quickly spun her around before returning his arm to her waist. "Just testing you is all."

Tyler stopped messing with his tie as soon as Ophelia stepped out. He could tell it was her without looking at her face. Her curls was what he noticed first. He let his eyes met her's and a smile, which he hoped wasn't too much of a dopey looking smile, spread across his face. "Hello Ace," he greeted. He took a few steps toward her. Ophelia did look like she had just stepped out of a fairytale book, and Tyler was her prince. For a moment, he didn't say anything, he just took in her appearance. "You look," Tyler tried to search for the right word, but it wasn't coming to mind, "amazing." He could have chosen a better word to describe her than that, but she made all the good words slip from his mind. Tyler wouldn't have really cared what Ophelia would have worn to the dance. She could have gone in her pajamas or extremely baggy clothes and he would have still gone with her. "You dressed up all for me," he asked with a little teasing behind his voice. "I feel extremely honored." Ophelia shrugged, trying to act casual. "Oh, this old thing? Just something I had lying around," she replied, giving a little spin in front of him. He looked very handsome in his dress robes and tie, with his hair falling slightly over one eye. "You clean up very well, too." She threaded her arm through his. "Let's go."

He gave a laugh as Ophelia spun around. She truly was fascinating. "Well then, I suppose my mother taught me well." Tyler gave her wide grin. He didn't think there was anything to cleaning up. He just had to put his mind to it. Plus, Tyler wasn't sure that Ophelia would have liked it if he had just showed up in just pants and a t-shirt. It wouldn't have really been right.
"Someone's eager to be getting off to the dance," he said teasingly as she took his arm. "Although, I think you are forgetting something." Tyler had the usual playful gleam in his eye. No one else was around but then again that didn't matter. He leaned closer to her and gave her a quick kiss on the lips.
"Now I think its time to get going." Tyler gave her his wide grin and started to lead her toward the dance.

Ophelia blushed when Tyler kissed her. But she liked it, and she already couldn't wait unil he would do it again. She was already picturing dancing under the enchanted ceiling, sparkling with stars and kissing while the rest of the class looked on in envy. They made a beautiful couple, and Ophelia knew it.
She followed him down to the great hall, and her eyes widened at the beauty before her. It was exactly as she'd pictured--all blue and silver, with crystalline ice sculptures scattered through out the room.
"It's so pretty," Ophelia sighed.

His wide grin stayed on his face as he noticed her blush. The pink on her cheeks seemed to brighten her eyes a little more.
Like a gentleman, Tyler led her to the Great Hall where everyone else stood. Looking around, he could see a few people he knew but he wasn't in a rush to get over to talk to them. There wasn't any way he was going to leave Ophelia just standing there.
"It is," he agreed. Tyler was never much of a daydreamer but since he had started to be around Ophelia, those daydreams started to push through his mind. At the moment, he was picturing something similar to what she was. "You know Ace, I believe that you are going to be the belle of the ball."

Ophelia smiled brightly. "I know," she replied teasingly.
In fact, she matched the color scheme of the ball perfectly. Her ice-blue dress glittered with silvery crystals, and she even had some woven into her hair, which was swept up in a crown of curls. Her shoes were sparkly silver, and the overall effect, in this setting, made her look very much like an ice princess.
"Oh, I hope the music starts soon!" she squealed excitedly.

"Oh, Ace is quite sure of herself tonight," he responded back teasingly. Tyler was sure that she was going to be the belle of the ball. She was Ophelia after all. Part of him wondered what a princess like her was doing with a nobody like him but he dared never to ask that question aloud. He was afraid that if he did, everything would just go up in a puff of smoke and he would wake up from his dreaming.
"It'll start soon. Then after it starts, I'm going to make sure you dance the night away," Tyler grinned again, "With me of course."

Garrett was pretty much suckered into going to the dance. He asked Cadence Dearborn to go to the ball just so she wouldn't cry. Sighing in the mirror, Garrett shook his head. Of course, he wouldn't have looked at it like he was suckered into going. He looked at it like he was helping her.
The statement he had given her about people becoming blind to things around them, seemed to have started to become true for Garrett.
He felt out of place in his dress robes but nevertheless he turned and left his dorm room to meet with Cadence. Garrett wasn't sure what to expect and he just hoped his dancing skills were better than what he thought them to be.
Garrett arrived by the Slytherin common room entrance and attempted to look like he wasn't nervous at all. The shyness in him started to surface again and he knew he to swallow it and make sure she had a good time at the ball.

Cadence was rather pleased with herself. Although it obviously would have been preferable if she could have got a date that was in Slytherin, she was satisfied to have secured a decent enough date anyway. Garrett was sweet and likeable and eager to please. Which meant she could manipulate him.
Dressed in a pale green dress that was long and straight, she swept her long blond hair up into a smooth bun, allowing just a few wispy curls to hang down. She looked far more elegant and sophisticated than she should have for her 14 years.
When she was ready, she headed out to meet Garrett. "Hi," she greeted him with an innocent-looking smile.

Girls hadn't really noticed him yet, or maybe he was just to blind to notice if any had. Sure, he had a few girl friends but none that he would have thought to ever ask to the dance.
This was a complete new experience for Garrett. He decided that he would wing it. Going to the dance with Cadence would be like going to the ball with one of his girl friends. Right? He was a little more nervous than he would like to admit.
When Cadence emerged from the portrait, Garrett swallowed hard and then smiled in return. "H-Hi," he responded in that shy way of his, "You look very pretty."
