Cameron cleaned up well, looking like he actually put a little effort into looking nice. He was lucky enough to be one of those guys that could pull off the 'just out of bed' look well.
But the ball was a special occassion, and he knew that Brenda, his date, was going to put a heck of a lot of effort into her appearance, so he do the same. Brenda was pretty, and he had fun with her. Part of the reason he liked dating her at the moment was because he knew it wouldn't turn into anything serious. She felt like more of a no strings attached girlfriend... he could treat her as such, and be treated well in return, but there would be no scenes when it was over. In fact, he half suspected that she would be the one to end it.
Laughing as he watched the other Slytherin 7th years get ready, he left and waited for Brenda in the common room.

Nick dressed up in the dress robes his sister helped him pick out. He felt sort of dumb, dressed up in some monkey suit, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. After getting dressed, he stood at the bottom of the stairs in the Hufflepuff Common room, waiting for Roxanna.

Maxi waited patiently outside the common room for Seth. She felt a bit strange all dressed up in her gold dressrobes, but it was a good strange. Especially when she heard the awe in Seth's voice. "Hey," Maxi blushed. "You clean up good Inophen," she laughed. "Ready?" "As I'll ever be," Seth shrugged, but he smiled widely. He held out his arm and latched with Maxi and the two walked down to the ball. Just some teachers and a couple of students were there. "Are you supposed to check in with McGonagall or something?" "Honestly, I haven't the faintest idea," Maxi laughed, she looked around but she didn't even see the headmaster or McGonagall. "All i know is we had to get here earlier than anyone, and that we do the first dance to start the whole thing off." She then spun toward Seth. "You know how to dance right?" Maxi realized she never bothered to ask him.

Dean gave a nod to Zoe's date. She seemed different, and he supposed that Gryffin was the cause of it. What ever it was, he was glad to see her healthy.
"Nice meeting you Gryffin," he called just as they were walking away. Dean looked down to Jackie and smiled. He ran his hand up and down her arm. "Much better than I was," he said leaning down to kiss her head. He was careful not to mess her hair up, in case she was really picky about it. "Are you okay?"

"Um..." Seth said. "How 'bout we wing it?" Seth smiled. He knew how to dance, sure. He'd been to enough functions hosted by the Inophen's that it was only proper that he'd learn. Seth just thought it would be a nice surprise for Maxi. "Come on, the other champions are over there," he pointed.

While other girls were picking out pretty, frilly dresses with lace and tulle, Brenda went for a different sort of look. Whether it was entirely appropriate for Hogwarts was another matter. The dress was a halter dress of a vivid red, skin-tight satin and the low-cut bodice was crusted with sequins. The hem of the dress stopped a good 8 inches above her knees. She wore her long blonde hair down and wavy, and she was wearing a pair of red high heels with a metal spike for a heel. In short, she would have looked more appropriate in Las Vegas than at Hogwarts. She stepped back to admire her reflection with a smile. She looked hot, and she knew it. She finished her look with some bright red lipstick, then hurried downstairs to meet with Cameron. She had fun with him, and there were no strings attached. That was how she liked it. "Hi, Cam," she said as she stepped off of the stairs. She did a little pirhouette in front of him. "What do ya think?"

Her dress was gold and strapless and it flowed down to the floor. She was glad it fit well, she had to make it herself, and with Maxi's help, she could say she looked pretty good. She walked down the stairs from her dormatory and smiled as she met Sin at the bottom of the stairs. "Well aren't you dashing," Bek said with a wide smile and she took his arm. She was happy to have a friend like Sin to go with tonight. The last thing she needed these days was any excess drama. "Ready when you are," She said. He gave her a roguish wink and descended with her into the ballroom. It wasn't important to him really whether he stood in the spotlight at all, but as proper for a man to do for his date, he showed her off and was happy to do so. "Have I told you that you look exquisite tonight Miss Caldwell?"

"Why thank you Mr. Savira," Bek smiled graciously. They entered the great hall. "Oh my Godric, look at this place!" Bek said excitedly. It was absolutely beautiful, the decorations made the hall look like a icey palace. "This is so cool!" she said.

And she dragged Seth behind her and ran over to her best friend. "You two look amazing!" Maxi squealed and hugged Bek.

The Yule Ball was something that Gabriel wasn't too sure about going to. It wasn't the fact that there would be students there, it was just a social event. When it came to social events, it seemed a little awkward for him to be there. He usually didn't have anyone to speak to, or just randomly strike up a conversation with anyone. Still, he had to go.
Fixing the tie of his dress robes, Gabriel sighed. His hair was growing out again. He didn't care for it to be too short. His side burns were a little longer, but they didn't look bad. Figuring he might as well get to the Ball before it was too late, he made his way to the school.
Arriving at the school, he looked around. Students were arriving and a few adults were already there. Keeping to himself, Gabriel put his hands behind him, clasped together, observing.

For Angelique, going to the Yule Ball was not the fun and exciting event that it would be for the students. She was just pulling guard duty for a portion of the night, along with many other Aurors in the department. She was hoping that, long before midnight, she could be back at home, relaxing with a glass of champagne and a good book.
Of course, the girly part of Angelique was always a little excited to get all dolled up. She had her hair swept up into a high bun with just a few little tendrils hanging down. Her dress was black and strapless, then fell into a softly flowing skirt that stopped just above her knees.
She was standing toward the back, quietly observing while keeping an eye out for her niece. The last person she expected to see was Gabriel Lowery.

Gabriel didn't expect to get pulled to go to the ball, but it was part of his job and that was what he was going to do. There wasn't anything back at his place for him to do other than sleep. He hoped that tonight just went by peacefully and nothing went wrong.
Observing the students, he noticed them joking around with each other, laughing, getting close to their dates, talking, everything was normal. His blue eyes carefully scanned the room. As his eyes moved, they stopped on Angelique. The woman who he had helped before, and the only person in the room that he sort of knew. He gave her a very light trace of a smile from across the room in a form of greeting her.
He started to glance over the students again. If she decided to talk to him... things could get awkward...

As expected, it didn't take Jeremy and Nolan very long to get ready, and they had spent the last hour loungng in the common room. Julia was to come downstairs to meet with Nolan, and Jeremy was supposed to go over to Ravenclaw Tower to meet with Alenna. Glancing at his watch, Jeremy looked over at Nolan. "Reckon I ought to head over to get Alenna now?" he asked. He couldn't quite hide the nervous quiver in his voice. Before Nolan could answer his friend, there was a banging on the door. It figured that Julia didn't have the patience to wait for him. Then again, she wouldn't be Julia, otherwise. He rolled his eyes, having just barely slipped into his dress robes. Unlike Jeremy, he was taking his time and being very carefree about the process. It was just a dance, afterall. "I guess that's a yes," he said to Jeremy, going to the door and opening it. He gave Julia a wide smile. "You always steal my breath away when you get all dolled up, Ju." "Well, aren't you a charmer," Julia laughed. "How are you two comming along? Almost ready," she asked, peeking in the door. "Hey Jeremy," Julia waved.

Josh was anxious to see Eve dressed up as well as just finally tell her. Lance had already told, well shown, Viv how he felt. What was stopping Josh? He should have told her before she went upstairs to get ready, but then he didn't want her to have any kind of second thoughts about actually going.
Waiting until they got to the actual dance would have been too long in Josh's mind. He agreed to meet Eve outside the common room. After all, it gave Lance and Viv a few moments alone. He sighed and fixed his dress robes, only to just shrug and leave the dorm room. "Good luck with Viv. I know what happened if you're late," he told Lance with a laugh as he closed the door.
Feeling slightly confident, while he was alone anyway, Josh exited the common room. He leaned against the wall next to the exit while he waited on Eve to meet him.

Eve hesitated at the door. She hardly recognized herself when Viv turned the mirror her way, for the first time in her life she truly felt beautiful. SHe knew her mother was beautiful, but she had never believed it in herself.
Little did she know that the proper haircut and grooming would have shaped her into this. She managed to get around Lance and Viv in the common room, she wanted Josh to be the first person, well aside from Viv and herself, to seewhat she looked like in all her finery. For an extremely modest person, or rather a person who had very little vanity, she was quite proud of her looks, she just hoped Josh would be pleased.
"Josh..?"

Alyx was still hiding in the shadows, she was more than nervous to enter that room. Although Sam and Christine had done wonders...more than wonders, they completely transformed her into a lady, into a princess really. She took a deep breath and peered around the corner. The mask on her face concealed more than her identity, she felt as if it hid who she really was inside as well. The air of mystery, even the act of doing such a thing added a sense of mischief, and she felt different than who she was.
Tonight she wasn't a ragtag hoyden, she was an unknown, a beautiful unknown at that, a royal one.

Christine sashayed with the best of them wearing a lazy confident smile on her face. She had decided that school indeed was amusing and adventurous she was going to look forward to it instead of dread the lack of freedoms she was used to.
When she recognized her brother's frame her smile grew, " Hiya handsome." she intoned with a smirk, " You look dashing...here to steal some young girl's heart?"

Meanwhile Lilac was doing the same thing. She had dressed up in the appropriate robes and truly looked beautiful. She thought surely were her father to see her he'd have been proud, for now however she wished to see her brother and hope he was proud as well. Except...he was always proud of her, and she of him. He seemed to love her without conditions, and without rules. She didn't have to work to make him smile and that was a gift in itself for her.
For the moment she was simply waiting for her brother to come in the room.

While other girls were picking out pretty, frilly dresses with lace and tulle, Brenda went for a different sort of look. Whether it was entirely appropriate for Hogwarts was another matter. "Hi, Cam," she said as she stepped off of the stairs. She did a little pirhouette in front of him. "What do ya think?" Cameron smiled when he saw her, getting to his feet from where he'd been sitting on the arm of one of the couches. She did look good, but it still amused him. The other girls he'd seen come down all tried for 'pretty' and 'beautiful.' Some of them succeeded, certainly. Brenda's look screamed more 'hot' though, and that was one of the reasons he liked her. She liked attention, so she didn't shy away from it when Cameron gave it to her, or even called it upon himself while she was near. "Leaves me speachless," he told her, coming close enough that he put his hands on her waist. "The term jaw-dropping comes to mind, even."

Brenda giggled and tossed her head around. "I know, right? All these other girls and their silly little princess costumes... So boring. I bet most of them wouldn't know real fun if it came up and grabbed them."
She winked at him, then came forward and pressed her lips to his in a bold, daring kiss that was guaranteed to leave him wanting for more. As she pulled away, she gave a light tug on his tie, then walked away, pausing to look over her shoulder at him with a come-hither look in her eyes. "Are you coming or what?"
