It started as an ordinary day in the Hospital Wing for Madam Pomfrey. In fact, it was a slower than usual day. Most of the students had gone to Hogsmeade for the day, and she only had one patient, a girl who had accidentally mixed in the wrong ingredient in a pimple-removing potion and was now covered with fur.
Madam Pomfrey had just finished applying the antidote to the girl's face and was cleaning up when she felt the castle shake from the force of the explosion. She peered out the window and could see smoke billowing up over the treetops.
That was when she knew something was happening... and she would need to be ready.

James carried Robin back to the school as fast as he could. He was worried as he carried Robin in his arms. He wasn't sure how well she was doing, but he did have faith that Madam Pomfrey could heal her.
As soon as he reached the school, James practically ran for the hospital wing. He walked in and then he headed straight for an empty cot. James laid Robin gently down on one of the cots and waited for Madam Pompfrey to come over.

Dean continued to talk to Jackie as they reached the school. He was not that far behind James Potter and a hufflepuff girl. He walked over to a cot that was across from the one that the red-haired girl occupied.
"We're here Jackie," Dean whispered. "We're safe." Once he laid her down on the cot, he cleared some hair from her face and took her hand. "You'll be healed in a few minutes Jackie."

Jackie sighed, holding on to Dean's voice as he spoke to her. He was keeping her conscious, even though she had floated in and out a few times.
Even as Dean laid her down in her half lucid state, she held on to him, scared that he would leave. When she was better, she would force him out, but she didn't think of that now.
"We have to go back, Dean. To help."

"You're not going anywhere," Dean said stubbornly. "You're going to stay right here and get better. No excuses Jackie. You have to get healed and then stay here for however long Madam Pomfrey tells you. I'll make sure that you do stay here." Even if Reese and Sin didn't like him at the moment, he would make sure to tell them what Madam Pomfrey told Jackie so that they could make sure that she stayed like she was supposed to and finish healing.
"Don't even think about leaving." He gave her hand a squeeze, enjoying the moment, even if it would soon end.

Jackie shook her head, but winced when it hurt. "You're going to go back," she said, as if she read it in his eyes. "You can't go back without me. You promised you wouldn't leave."
She didn't know if she was pleading to go back with him, or to keep him here, but there was a surpressed desperation in her eyes. The truth was, Jackie didn't know what to do without Dean. She would never in a thousand years admit this, but she needed him. And the thought of not knowing if he was hurt or not...

"No, I'm not going to go back," said Dean. Part of him thought about it, but he was going to keep to his promise. "I'm not going to leave you. I did promise that I would stay, did I?" Dean gave her a gentle smile.
He wouldn't go back on his promises to Jackie, plus he couldn't leave her. Dean couldn't leave her alone because he would worry about her and wonder if she was getting better or not. "I tell you what. Everytime you hurt, you squeeze my hand, okay? Don't worry you won't break it."

Jackie just looked at him for a moment, her eyes searching for something in his. There was a prickling in her mind that told her in a few hours, this wouldn't be okay. And some part of her would want to come back to this moment.
She finally nodded, very slowly, after a minute. "All right," she said, threading her fingers through his. She could feel her mind trying to slip into black again, but she was so scared she would wake up and he would be gone.
She squeezed his hand once, gently.

Dean noticed the look in her eyes. "Rest Jackie," he said softly. "I'm not going to be going anywhere. I'll be right here whenever you wake up, promise." He gave her a smile. Of course, he knew the same thing that was going on in her head. In a few hours, this wasn't going to be okay. It would go back to how things were just before the attack, but at least he would have something else good to cling too, and this moment gave him hope for a later time.
If she was willing to have him by her side now, there was a chance that she would forgive him, he just had to find that chance. However, now wasn't the time for that. He was going to make sure that she was completely safe and better.

Jackie just nodded slowly, losing the fight to keep her eyes open. "I'm still awake," she murmured. She briefly wondered where Madam Pomfrey was, but she also knew that there were a lot of students that were going to need her attention. She would be patient and wait.
"Thank you for this, Dean," she added, though it was more for her own benefit. "Show me those pictures sometime?"

Since James and Robin were the first to arrive, they were the first two students she attended to. Robin was clearly the more seriously injured of the two, whereas James only had cuts and bruises. "My goodness, you poor thing," Madam Pomfrey said, bending down to examine Robin. After a full scan, she determined that Robin had three cracked ribs, a broken leg, and a concussion. "You're going to be fine," she assured her softly as she went to work healing the broken bones.

Seth finally made it out of the passage way. carrying Maxi who was fading in and out of consciousness the entire time. Seth ran as fast as he could with Maxi in his arms, straight to the Hospital Wing. "Madame Pomfrey," Seth said, trying to stay calm as he laid Maxi in a bed. "She...she was hit with... with a stunning spell, I... I think," Seth said quickly,

"Madame Pomphrey please! Help!" Erica had struggled with Eve's body all the way back to the castle. It wasn't that Eve was particularly heavy, but the fact that neither was Erica had some straining points.
Eve had been knocked unconscious at the tea shop when a beam fell on her, she still hadn't come around or even moaned in all the time Erica was straining to get her back to the Castle. She hadn't even checked for a pulse on the girl...she was just...determined that Eve was still alive, and was afraid to check and find out otherwise.
Now she was glad that there were students who had made it back safely and that even looking around her these students were getting help. She quickly laid Eve down on one of the beds then turned to her colleague, "What can I do?"

Peter followed several other students toward the hospital wing. As he got there, the wing was filling up, but he rushed her to a place where he could put her down easily. He knew that Madam Pomfrey was extremely busy with those that were already there, but he held onto Adelaide's hand.
"It's going to be okay," he whispered to her. "We're back at the school. Just please hold on." Peter was worried and he didn't care if his face showed it.

The trip back through the secret passage with two injured people was not an easy one for Andi. The grim reality of what had happened and what she had seen finally set in on her, and she was exhausted. She just wanted to curl up in a corner and cry. But she couldn't do that. She had to get Ted to the hospital wing. He was not looking well at all, and he hadn't regained consciousness yet. She also had her prisoner to consider.
Finally, she made it to the Hospital wing, and levitated Ted and the prisoner onto the nearest empty bed. Then she sank down on a chair next to Ted's bed and began to cry.

Jeremy was getting the other teachers and Julia was looking for professor Dumbledore. But when Alenna made it to Madame Pomfrey, she was already busy and the hospital wing was filling with people rather quickly. "Need help Madame Pomfrey?" Alenna asked, ready if she needed to be.

Madam Pomfrey had just finished healing Robin and turned to James. "Now, I don't want her to sleep for a while, because of the head injury, OK? Would you mind staying with her for a little while, and just talking to her? Just keep her awake."
Then Erica and Alenna both came to her, asking if she needed help. "Yes... Ms. Raines, please check with the patients or the people who brought them in and find out what happened to them, so I can determine the order of priority. Alenna, would you go to the Owlery and send a message to St. Mungo's? I have a feeling I am going to need a few more healers to help out."
Then she turned to Jackie and Dean, who had been the second arrivals. "Please tell me what happened, dear," she said to Dean.

Dean looked from Jackie to Madam Pomfrey. "We were in the Three Broomsticks and then Jackie was just hit with some kind of spell. I never did hear the incantation or anything like that. I just saw that she was hit and I caught her before she hit the ground. She's been going in and out. I've been trying to keep her awake." The tiredness was showing on his face again.
"I know that she complained that she was hurting, but she never said where exactly."

Jackie had floated in and out even during the short conversation that Dean was having with the school healer. The only part of it she really caught was his last sentence, as her body reacted as if on cue, sending a wave of pain through her chest.
She squeezed Dean's hand like he told her to, but also in part to get his attention. She wasn't entirely lucid, as evident by the fact she was turning to Dean for comfort.
Her eyes found Madam Pomfrey near the side of her bed, in front of Dean, and she pieced together that she was supposed to say something. "It hurts everywhere," she said. "But when I breath in..." It was the best she could do to explain that there was a dull ache everywhere, but a particularly sharp pain in her chest and stomach.

"Oh dear," Madam Pomfrey said, frowning. The poor children... such a horrible thing to have happen to them. How anyone could do something like this to children was simply beyond Madam Pomfrey's understanding.
"I'll just do a scan so I can see what's going on, OK, dear? You won't feel a thing, I promise."
She murmured a quiet incantation as she waved her wand over Jackie. This enabled her to see inside and figure out what damage had been done. "Hmmm... looks like you have broken ribs... oh... you have a lot of broken bones... I can fix them easily... and a partially collapsed lung... "
Frankly speaking, the girl was quite a mess. Madam Pomfrey was a professional, but this was almost more than she could take. How the girl could be so injured and still be even remotely conscious was amazing to Madam Pomfrey. The girl was a fighter, that was for certain.
"OK, first things first," she said. "You're in a lot of pain, so I'm going to give you a potion that should help with that, so you'll be more comfortable. Can you stay awake long enough to drink it for me?"
