Taking the cup from Madam Pomfrey, Dean had released Jackie's hand. He nodded at her directions and sat on the side of Jackie's bed. Putting his arm behind her carefully, he helped her lean up just slightly, careful not to make her hurt anymore than she already was.
"Here Jackie," Dean said bringing the cup to her lips. "Drink this." His voice had turned more soft as he gave her the potion. "I'm really am sorry Jackie." At that, Dean meant for everything. The thing with Zoe, and the causing her even more pain. Those were things that were never meant to happen.

Adelaide laughed though it hurt her head. She was trying to be strong so she didn't even wince at the sharp pain. "That's very sweet. And I promise I won't just let you lose either." "I'm going to hold that to you Adelaide," Peter said still smiling. He knew that she was fighting, and Peter admired her for that. "I think that we'll have a lot to do to keep our minds off of things after you get out of here." He wouldn't forget the screams he heard, but it would be nice to have things to do, or just Adelaide to be around so he wouldn't really think about that.

Jackie winced slightly as he lifted her, though the movement was in fact very small. Now that the adrenaline was wearing off, things hurt a little more than they had earlier.
She swallowed the potion, closing her eyes as she felt a cold trail from her lips to her stomach, and then felt it extend outward. "Don't be sorry, Dean," she said, and took a breath. The pain started to ebb away, but then so did her will to stay awake. "I forgive you."

Noticing her eyes seeming to give, Dean gave her the rest of the potion. "Jackie, don't go to sleep. I need you to stay here with me." He heard her say that she forgave him, and that gave him more strength than he felt he had. Dean knew that things would change once she got better, but for right now, she was his to help take care of.
"That means a lot Jackie." He gave a gentle smile and decided to change the subject. "Remember whenever I told you that I found pictures of you in pigtails? I also found some other things. I found little notes that was written back and forth in class."

"I'm so tired, Dean," Jackie said, arguing staying awake. She didn't feel like she could do it anymore.
She barely remembered him talking about the pictures, but she nodded anyway. She barely remembered what happened, either, and she was fighting so hard to keep her eyes open, only because he had asked her to.
Her breathing evened out and she asked, "Why did you keep those notes?"

"I know that you're tired, but I need you to stay with me for just a little bit longer. Madam Pomfrey will have you another potion to drink in a few minutes and you have to drink that, so I need you to stay awake. I'll help you."
At her question, Dean shrugged. He knew exactly why he kept those notes. They were from Jackie and the notes made great memories. There was even one asking her to be his forever.
"I just did Jackie. I've hung onto because they meant a lot. If you want, whenever you get better, I'll show them to you."

Jackie nodded. What she needed was another rush of adrenaline to keep her going, but she knew there wasn't going to be another one. Her hand searched his out again, since he had let go.
"Okay," she said. "I want to see them. And the pictures. We were dorky little kids." They had both grown up a lot in the last five years, though they had grown together, and Jackie couldn't imagine any else with her now besides him.

Dean noticed Jackie moving her hand and he reached out and held hers again. "I'll get them to you after we leave here, promise." He knew that after she was better, she would send him away, but he could still owl them to her.
He laughed. "We were pretty dorky kids. My hair was too short. I can't believe that my mum insisted on keeping it short! By the way, thank you for convincing her to let me have it longer." Dean smiled.

"Your hair was too short and mine was always in pigtails."
She smiled when he thanked her, and nodded. "Thank you for convincing me to finally let my hair down once in a while." She squeezed his hand, but this time not from pain. It was from the fond memories. Dean was the first person she had met, and until very recently, no one had ever come between that.
"I've missed you," She said, turning her head so that it was easier to keep her eyes on him. "Where have you been?"

"Hey what are friends for, right?" Dean laughed again. "Besides I think I liked your hair down a lot better, not that it wasn't cute in those pigtails though." He sighed. He missed her too.
"I've missed you too," he answered truthfully. Dean knew that Jackie might ask something like that and he used his free hand to run through his hair. "Honestly? I've been in my room. The only time I've come out is to go to class and I went right back there. My roommates tried to get me to get out every once in awhile, but I didn't budge. I thought about a lot of things to tell you the truth." He didn't mention the fact that he hadn't really eaten anything or slept.

Seth finally made it out of the passage way. carrying Maxi who was fading in and out of consciousness the entire time. Seth ran as fast as he could with Maxi in his arms, straight to the Hospital Wing. "Madame Pomfrey," Seth said, trying to stay calm as he laid Maxi in a bed. "She...she was hit with... with a stunning spell, I... I think," Seth said quickly, Maxi felt Seth place her on a bed and explain to someone whe had happened. She was in pain, her head felt like it was swimming, but she couldn't get her eyes to open.

Jackie wanted to ask him why, but some part of her knew, and she took a deep breath. She only felt pressure when she breathed now, instead of the searing pain she had felt moments before.
"Dean," she said, "I don't really know what's going on... but don't let me make you leave. I need you." And she really, really wanted to sleep.
Her eyes closed again, and her breathing started to grow shallower, which didn''t help since she only had one good lung at the moment.

"I won't be leaving," he said. If he had to fight Reese and Sin, then he would. Dean promised that Jackie that he wouldn't leave her, at least while she was in the hospital wing and he was going to fulfill that promise.
"Jackie? Don't close your eyes. You don't have to talk, just don't close your eyes. Please don't because you don't know how much I need you." The last words just slipped from his lips without him thinking, but he didn't bother to take them back. "You have one more potion to drink, then you can rest, promise."

Jackie sighed again and opened her eyes, letting them land on Dean. She didn't comment on what he had said, though even when she was lucid again, she would remember, and it would break her heart all over again.
She swallowed and asked, "What did the notes say?" She had to talk, and listen to him talk, or she would slip into a much welcomed sleep. "I remember being so restless, and you looked so bored." It had been the reason they started passing notes... it gave them both something to keep their minds on.

"There were a few notes that talked about several crazy things that we could do and you talking me into them," he said with a small chuckle. "There's another one from first year actually. We talked about all kinds of things. I don't think any topic was really untouched by us."
Dean continued to smile as he rubbed his thumb on the back of Jackie's hand. "Classes usually tended to be bored except whenever we sat next to each other. I think that I still have a note that has whenever you asked me to be your friend."

Jackie smiled and managed to roll her eyes. "What a nerd I was," she murmured. "I can't imagine why on earth you said yes after that."
Dean had always been very intelligent and never needed to focus in class. Jackie just couldn't sit still, but she would always learn the lesson later when Dean sat her down and helped her. They had been doing it since the very beginning.

"Put you were an adorable nerd," he said grinning. "Plus you were the first girl I talked to at school. I thought that you were cool, and we were eleven. Who knew how we would turn out?" Dean gave another laugh. "But it is a good thing that you did ask. I would have been completely lost. Actually, I would probably still be lost if you hadn't asked." Dean gave her a wink.
"I remember that day I owled my mum and told her that I made a new friend and she told me that I should invite you over sometime. I was completely excited."

"Your mum was amazing... acted like she had known me all of her life and welcomed me in right away." She smiled a little at that memory, and thought of her own family.
"My brothers teased me about you the first time I mentioned you. They still haven't stopped."
She glanced around to see if Madam Pomfrey was on her way back yet, but still held fast to Dean's hand.

Madam Pomfrey ran back into the room, having had to mix up the potion she needed. While she was there, she summoned for Professor Slughorn to come up and help make any potions that were in short supply.
"So sorry about that, dear.... we're not equipped to deal with so much..." She handed the new potion to Dean. "Here's another one to help her drink... But let me deal with the broken bones first. That won't take but a moment."
She took out her wand and murmured a soft incantation over every area where she had spotted a broken bone. It took several minutes, but soon she was done. "There now. You should be able to move a little better... Just drink that potion and get some rest. When you wake up, you should be feeling much better."

"Of course, my mum loves you. You're the first and only girl that I ever brought home." Dean gave a laugh. "And why haven't your brothers stopped teasing you about that yet? What did you tell them?"
Dean took the potion from Madam Pomfrey and moved beside Jackie while he helped her sit up again. "Thank you Madam Pomfrey," said Dean looking to her before looking back to Jackie.
"Hey Jackie, just one more thing to drink and then you can finally close your eyes and rest," he said softly. He brought the potion to her lips and turned it up so that she could drink it.
