Lyra was frustrated that she couldn't get the answers she wanted. She looked over her shoulder to Hogsmeade. Please let them all be alright. By now Julian and Nicolas were probably down there. Maybe they found Sam already. Maybe they're on their way back already. "Leave her be, Collin. She's obviously fine and doesn't know anything useful."

"Ethan!" Lyla yelled. She had been all throughout the castle. He wasn't in the Slytherin dorms or anywhere that she could find. She had just recently heard about an attack or something going down in Hogsmeade and she wasn't sure if her brother had gone or not. He usually went, and she usually went with him. He usually bought her ice cream, but she had stayed at the castle this weekend recovering from a head cold.
Her head was pounding now but she didn't let that stop her she had to find her brother.
"Ethan!" she yelled again in the courtyard with tears streaming freely from her face. She was in a fair panic now since she hadn't found him in the castle.
She saw a somewhat familiar group of Slytherins and rushed to them. She knew there was supposedly house animosity but she was familiar enough in the Slytherin group because of her brother.
"Have any of you seen Ethan?" she asked nakedly vulnerable.

Ethan little sister Lilac came out, complaining that she couldn't find Ethan. Lyra did not need to worry about him too, but as soon as Lilac asked if they had seen him, she really began to worry. "I haven't seen him since this morning. Don't you two usually go together on Hogsmeade weekends? He wouldn't have gone without you, would he?" Lyra was praying he wouldn't have, and was just shut up somewhere, unaware of the nearby danger.

Lyla was only a year behind her, and even though the girls weren't close, Evelyn considered her somewhat of a friend. So when she ran out looking terrified, Evelyn wanted to be able to console her, even though she was just as scared as Lyla. She wrapped her arms around Lyla giving her a comforting hug. "I'm sure he's fine Lyla. There's a bunch up on the astronomy tower watching the whole thing. He's probably up there."

"I was sick today." she said shaking her head, "He wanted me to stay in bed...but sometimes when I can't go...he goes and brings me something back." guilt surged in her heart tenfold although it had been there under the surface for the longest time. If he was there because of her she would never forgive herself. Still as she looked at Lyra and everyone she knew that Ethan wouldn't have wanted her to be so stricken so she gasped her last tears then whispered, " I can't find him."
She still looked so lost. Ethan was the one person she had in her life. Her father despised her though they all pretended differently and her mother was completely indifferent to her.
When Evelyn suggested the Astronomy tower hope flared to life in Lyla's eyes as she turned to look up at the high tower.

Evelyn had no idea if in fact Ethan was up on the tower, but if her suggestion could make her feel just a bit better for just a bit longer, it was worth it. "I can go with you to look, Lyla. I need to find Rayne."

Lyla nodded but was hesitating, she wanted and needed her brother to be up there and there was a chance he wasn't so she was terrified of what those steps would bring.
She glanced up there but her feet would not move.

An MLE officer positioned in Hogsmeade had been the first of many to warn Headmaster Dumbledore that there was a Death Eater attack occurring down in the village. Due to their close proximity to the village, Dumbledore quickly alerted the staff and ordered that they bring all the children inside. They would then decide if there needed to be a common room lockdown or not.
For now, Minerva rushed out to the courtyard where many of the students had clearly already heard the news. It was hard to miss with the loud booms of explosions and the injured students arriving with tales of horror. She placed her wand to her throat, uttered an incantation, and made her voice loud enough to be heard over the chaos. "Move inside everyone. No lagging." She pursed her lips as she waited for them to comply. She moved to the outskirts of the courtyard, making sure everyone was listening and that there were no other students further out. She could see some of the professors down by the lake and over at the quidditch pitch. They all had small groups of students with them.

Lilac swallowed when McGonagall came out and told them to get inside. Her whole body was shivering and she felt a little warm on top of everything else. She needed to find Ethan quick, her energy was draining and hope was dying. She felt like crying, then she realized by her nearly frozen cheeks that she was crying already.
"Where are you Ethan...?" she sniffled and looked up at the tower again. Please be up there. Please be safe.

Rayne had in fact been in the astronomy tower, though without Ethan, when one of the students rushed in, saying they had just come back from Hogsmeade and it was under attack.
Two people came to mind, and Rayne swore her heart stopped. Had Nate or Eve gone today? She didn't know, and she was kicking herself for not talking to Evelyn hardly at all anymore.
She rushed down all the flights of stairs, stopping briefly by the library and the common room, and not finding Eve in eithere. Her heart sank until she rushed down to the great hall. There was a bit of chaos there, and she just hoped....
She pushed past everyone who was trying to get inside and out into the courtyard where the familiar head of red hair made her breathe again.
"Eves!" She said, rushing to her friend and throwing her arms around her. "You're okay!"

It was hard to miss the firebrand that raced past her to the other brilliant red head. Lilac knew that those two were usually inseperable so finding that the other was alive would indeed make eachother happy. More hope flared in Lyla's chest, if Rayne was okay maybe Ethan was alright too.
She waited for the happy reunion to abate a bit before she approached.
"Rayne...were you in the Astronomy tower?"

Evelyn was all ready to go up to the tower when McGonagall came out to usher everyone inside. This made moving much more complicated as everyone was rushing toward the door and then stopping as soon as they were in the entrance hall, as if no one behind them needed to get in!
Evelyn thought she heard her name, but in the chaos it was hard to tell. At least, until she was tackled by Rayne who seemed to come out of no where. Evelyn was overjoyed to see her. "Rayne! Oh thank Merlin!" Not only was Rayne okay, she was talking to Evelyn again.

As they pushed into the entrance hall and began dispersing, Colette touched Collin's arm. "I'm going to the common room. I'm sick of crowds." She hoped her brother would come with her, as she was still shaken up. But it looked like he had other people to worry about at the moment so she waited to see what he would say.

At least one thing was taken care of. The professors already knew what was going on, so Lyra felt slightly less guilty about not rushing off to tell Dumbledore like Julian had told her. She had gotten so caught up in everything that was going on, and she too needed to know who was safe and who might not be. But with Colette not knowing much of anything she realized she didn't need to stay.
They were starting to break away as they were herded like cattle inside. The Gryffindors had found who they were looking for, everyone but Ethan's sister. Collin had Colette. Slowly friends were coming together but Lyra still felt lost. She didn't have Rystain, Sam, Ethan, or Julian. It was a miracle that she was still in one piece.

"Oh, Merlin, I was worried about you," Rayne said, pulling out of the hug as they started to get swept inside. "Were you there? Are you okay?"
Lyla was catching her attention soon enough, and she pieced together why she was asking.
"I was up there... I'm sorry, Lyla. Ethan wasn't there with us."

"Hold on a minute," he told his sister before stepping toward Amandine. "Dinny," Collin said. "I'm going to go with Colette," he said. "Follow the teachers and everyone inside and if you see any sign of a fammily member stick with them, okay?" He felt a little twinge of guilt for leaving his best mate's sister alone in all this, but he needed to be with his family as well. "Okay, come on Colette." |

Sheena was in the Library, but at first word of the attacks, she ran out to the courtyard where everyone seemed to be congragating. For the best of her knowledge, Liam wasn't going to town today. But Jamie and Ama were. And if there was an attack, that meant that at least half of her family was in the villiage now, fighting. "Stupid Aurors..." Sheena thought to herself. It was such risky business, running off to get yourself kil...hurt.
"Amandine!" Sheena called out to her cousin, hoping she or her brother were in the courtyard. "Ama! Jamie!"

Lyla was catching her attention soon enough, and she pieced together why she was asking. "I was up there... I'm sorry, Lyla. Ethan wasn't there with us." She nodded but was feeling very numb at the moment. Ethan had to be okay. She was ushered in like everybody else but suddenly it was as if she wasn't walking at all, as if she were outside of herself just flowing with everyone else. Her heart ached far too much but her mind refused to accept the possibility that her brother was gone. She moved mindlessly through the crowd and found some steps to sit on. Her body swayed and she wasn't sure if she'd make it to the steps or not. The noise in the grand hall was getting to be too much and she couldn't hear herself think, but could still hear her heart pounding throughout her body. Something deep inside of her fell apart she felt like screaming and crying at the same time but when she opened her mouth it was only a whisper, "Ethan..." |
