"Ah but people often show you their best side when they want to make a good impression." she said admitting that she wanted to make that good impression, " Sooner or later their flaws come out, so perhaps it's best to be honest from the beginning."

"Yes, that is true," he agreed. "However, I do promise that I'm being honest with everything I say. I don't see the need to lie." Christopher gave a shrug. "But good impressions are important. A few of my flaws include the desire to sail all the time. I rarely visit with my brothers because I'm always out at sea."

"Brothers?" she asked, " How many do you have?" she wondered. She wanted a big family. Or at least she had wanted a big family. She wanted to be surrounded by people who loved and accepted her, she wanted to be a part of something, her parents and her brother had given her that, and then the sea had taken it away.

"Three of them," he said. "There's Edward, James, and Anthony. Anthony is the youngest, Edward and James are married with several children. Anthony and I are the bachelors of the family. Other than brothers, there are several nieces and nephews. I guess you could say that we're a big family, but I'm not really there that often, neither is Anthony. We just travel a lot more." Christopher smiled. "Although I plan to go home after I get this cargo delivered. I'm sure that they'd be happy about that."
He did feel bad for Andrea because she didn't have anyone to really go home to. That made him feel even more drawn to her in a strange way. The more he looked at her, the more it seemed like he had seen her before.

"You're very blessed." she said quietly, " To have so much to go home to. The sea will always call to you, but you will always have a home to go to." she said almost wistfully. The sea was such a part of her life but it wasn't everything, and it wasn't even all happy. There were definite parts of sorrow involved in the sea and her life, she wanted a home of her own.

Christopher gave a half smile. "I may have a home to go to, and it may have a lot of people there, but that doesn't mean its really full. It could be the emptiest place in the world until you find something to fill that emptiness. Even out at sea, you could fill full of happiness but still have a sense of an empty feeling."
He had been feeling an empty feeling more ever since he told Christine that he'd find someone because he thought of what it would be like to have someone love him.

"It's hard to imagine a man like you feels empty." she said tilting her head at him but she could almost see the lonely man beneath the hard edged sailor. She had finished her meal and was now just conversing pleasantly, or rather conversing all the same, the subject matter had a dour taste to it but she wasn't one to back away from uncomfortable conversation.

He gazed at her after he leaned back in his chair after finishing his meal. "I can surround myself by people, but it doesn't really help anything," he said. "After all you just learn to deal with it." Christopher gave a shrug. Around Andrea, however, he was finding himself not feeling empty.

She smiled at him she didn't know what to say anymore, but the more she was around him the more entranced she became with his smile, his voice, his mouth, she wanted to know what his lips would feel like against hers and that was a dangerous line of thinking, though this was not the first time her mind had strayed like this.
"I know...exactly what you mean." her life was very lonely but she never really was alone, she supposed being the captain of the ship he was often alone as well. At least she was only responsible for herself, he was responsible for everyone.

When the waiter returned, Christopher asked for the check and paid for their meal before looking back to Andrea. "Well, we're two of a kind then," he said with half a smile. Christopher knew that it was getting late, but he wanted to spend a bit more time with her before turning in for the night.
"Shall I walk you back to wherever you are staying?"

Andrea thanked him for the meal and nodded when he asked to take her to the hotel she was staying at.
"Yes, thank you. That would be lovely." she smiled. It was all she could hope for, this first date of theirs. She knew she didn't have much time, and hoped he extended an invitation for the next day...or should she? Or would that be too bold?

Christopher stood up from his chair and pushed it under before he stood next to her. He offered her his hand to help her up from her chair. A gentle smile was resting on his face.
As they walked out of the restaurant, Christopher stopped. He knew that there were a few hotels in town and wasn't sure which one she was staying at, but he started walking in the direction of the hotels. "I've had a wonderful night Andrea."

Andrea didn't have much time to think before he was at her side helping her up, not much longer after that they were walking towards the hotels and she sighed, "I as well." she smiled tentatively back at him.
"Hear that?" she asked. There was music playing in a near by courtyard where couple were dancing.

Music did reach Christopher's ears, but he didn't really pay that much attention to it because it just seemed like background music for them as they walked. He was happy and felt like he was with someone rather than alone.
He was brought out of his thoughts as she spoke. Christopher found her voice always soft and enchanting. "Yes," he said. "Come on." He gave her a smile and led her toward he courtyard. "Do you dance Andrea?"

"Oh I haven't" she said pulling back, but she relented smiling and letting him pull her towards the courtyard, she was already laughing. "I haven't danced since I was very young." she smiled up at him trusting him to guide her through the steps as she placed her hands in his.

"Well, we'll have to fix that won't we," Christopher asked with a smile. "To be quite honest, I haven't danced in a long time. I think the last time I did was with my little sister when she wanted to." He gave a chuckle and led her closer to the courtyard.
Once they reached it, Christopher stopped and stared down at Andrea as he put on of her hands on his shoulder, then putting one hand on her waist, and holding her hand with his other hand. A gentle smile was etched across his face as he started to slowly move so that she could keep up with him.

"A sister?" she asked surprised, she had heard about the four Montgomery brothers, but nothing of a sister. "What's she like?" Andrea asked.
It was hard to concentrate however as he was holding her and moving her across the chosen dancing space. Her heart was beating rapidly and blood was rushing through her body, all caused by the male in front of her. She never thought that she'd have as much fun as she was having.

"Well, she's not an actual sister. I consider her to be that way. She was my best friend. The last time I danced was at her birthday party that her parents threw for her. I happened to be home at the time. Her name is Katherine and now she finally has a few children that she had wanted." Christopher never really talked about having other friends to anyone. Katherine wasn't one that he would have fallen for, she was like the sister he never had.
He continued to dance with Andrea. She was the only one around while everything else faded away. He smiled down at her. He was having a lot of fun with her and then he twirled Andrea around before bringing her back to him.

Andrea's pang of jealousy was quickly reassured, though she still couldn't help it's lingering after affects. She wanted to be close to him, well perhaps not in a sisterly way but someone he could really care for. It seemed impossible however, and yet the way the night was going nothing really seemed impossible at all.
"Children are nice." she said not really conscious of what she was saying but lost in his eyes and saying the first thing that came to mind.

As they continued to dance, Christopher wasn't sure if they stopped or if they kept on going. He wasn't too concerned about that because he was too wrapped up. "Children are nice," he said. Christopher did have a little bit of experience with children and he enjoyed it. "Maybe one day you'll settle down and have a couple, or even a yard full of them." A smile was on his face as he thought about it. Having several children wouldn't be too bad one day, he just had to find the right woman. The way things were going, Andrea seemed to fill the void that he had felt for a while.
He didn't want to break up their moment or anything, but the air continued to get more chilly. "Come on," he said. "I wouldn't want you to catch a cold from being out in the cool air. Let's walk." His words were soft. "I'll even give you my jacket."
