Andrea melted at the sound of his voice, "I'd...love to." she answered, and it was clear in her eyes that she would follow this man to the ends of the earth, she was already willing to do so even before he was seeing her as he saw her now. Although it felt as if this was the first time he was ever really seeing her, he had always seen Andrew, but now...she was Andrea and she felt...happy.

At first, Christopher wasn't sure if the woman was going to agree or not and he had to admit, he was worried. Relief was shown across his face when she did agree. A broad smile spread across his lips and he offered her his arm. It was a nice gesture he thought, and of course it was gentlemenly for him to do so.
"My name is Christopher, but you can call me Chris if you wish. May I ask your name?"

"Andrea." she told him then again a bit more comfortable, confident, " Andrea Fairchild." though what a Fairchild was doing in this less than respectable place was a bit wary, but she was here all the same, and she was here with a purpose, she put her arm in his and walked with him. Of course she had imagined this, imagined being with him like this, they were just thoughts, but now as it was taking place thoughts were turning into dreams. He was the most respectable man she knew, she admired him so much already it wasn't a long jump from admiration to love, but she wasn't ready to admit that, six years working for him...six years of growing...but in six years he had become a worldly man, and she, well she had definitely become a woman.

"It's nice to meet you Andrea," he said with a smile, "although, I am sorry about what happened just a few moments ago." Christopher still studied her face as they walked down the street. The name Fairchild rang a bell, but he couldn't place where he had heard it before. He wouldn't think anymore of it until he retired to his room. Right now, he was more concerned about getting to know this woman.
She was everything that he was looking for, well, so far that was. Now he just had to engage her into a conversation and see her look on things before he made his full decision about her. "What brings you here, if you don't mind me asking."

She smiled then to herself before replying, "If you're wondering what a girl like me is doing in a place like this I assure you I'm the last person to really know that answer, the truth is, hard times take us where we need to go, and I simply ended up here." she gave him a small enigmatic smile and hoped that he would accept her answer.

Christopher listened to her, hanging on to her every word. Her voice was soft and melodious, in his opinion. It was like Andrea was bewitching him with her voice and it had him feeling like a little school boy again.
"That's an excellent reason," he replied. "I ended up here because of work." Christopher wasn't sure what her reaction would have been if he said that he was a sailor straight away, or what she would have said if he said that he would be leaving in a day or so. His time on land at the moment depended on how things went with Andrea.

Andrea knew what kind of work he did so she didn't bother asking him instead she nodded, "Sailing is very lucrative, but hardly stationary, are there no roots calling you anywhere?" she asked. She had a rare opportunity to get to know him as a woman now, and use what she knew about him already to her advantage which she was fully intending upon doing.

He laughed. Was it that obvious that he was a sailor or was she just a good guesser? "Sailing is a great opportunity to see the world. And the only roots that are calling me are the places I have to go to deliver my cargo." Christopher gave a shrug. "I don't really stay at home too often. I do like to travel. Sometimes my niece comes along, but she recently started school in her sixth year." He felt a bit of pride in Christine.
"What about you?"

"My father sailed when I was a little girl." she smiled faintly, "my mother sailed with him...was his second in command actually. We all used to sail with him in those days, but..." she bit her lip as she was lost in the memory, were he a stranger she would have never been so open and forward but this was Chris...her captain...the man who had changed her life so drastically, the man that she knew inside and out, " I was sick once...and my father had a sailing trip, I had to stay home and ...the sea had different plans for my family than a safe return." she said simply, at this point letting him lead her where he would.

Christopher listened to Andrea intently. He wanted to know everything he could about her and maybe he could introduce her to Andrew and he could give him his opinion of her, although, Christopher had a good feeling about this woman. After all, if sailing was in her blood, there would be a chance that should could be like her mother and sail with him like his second in command. That was what he was looking for.
He frowned as she spoke of her father dying. Christopher realized where he had heard her last name. "I remember now where I've heard your last name. I had the honor of meeting your father once when I was younger. Great man. Enjoyed speaking with him, and I remember that he did speak highly of his daughter." Christopher smiled at her.
As they reached the restaurant, he opened the door and followed her inside. The waiter at the door knew Christopher and he gave him a slight bow in greeting. The waiter eyed Andrea, and Chris just gave him a raised eyebrow as he led them to a table for two. Once the waiter handed them menus, he disappeared quickly to allow them time to decide what they wanted to drink. "Do you like anything in particular?"

Andrea paused, she had no idea that he knew her father, did he then know her uncle? Not that it mattered, but she didn't want him to know about her past...she didn't want him to know who she really was and what complications that would bring to their relationship...well their hopefully soon to be relationship. She had successfully captured his attention and now was losing it most likely by the conundrum she was in over his supposed knowledge of her family.
She was thinking too hard and mostly about her father who had passed when he asked his question. She heard it a moment later shook her head then answered, " Oh...no...whatever you're having."

He gave her a look that asked 'are you alright' when she seemed to come out of a daze. Christopher felt like she didn't want him to ask questions such as that and he knew better than speak of something that she might not want to talk about.
Christopher smiled. "Alright then. I'll just wait until the waiter returns and order then." He studied her for a moment, and it was hard to keep his eyes off of her. He knew that any man couldn't keep their eyes off of her, and he felt honored that she agreed to eat with him rather than just turn him down. Chris also felt like he were in a dream because Andrea seemed to be perfect. Bringing himself out of his thoughts, he thought he would get her opinion about sailing.
"So, Andrea, do you like to sail by any chance?"

She brought her head up from her thoughts and gave him a quick smile, " Every chance I get..." she bit her lip. Sailing was bittersweet for her, most of the time the only time she was at peace was on the water, she felt her father when she sailed, and yet she also felt the danger that took him away from her and that part of the ocean terrified her.

His smile brightened. "Really," he said. "It's hard to find a woman that actually likes to sail." Yes, he must be dreaming. However, this was one dream that he never wanted to wake up from. "I have to say that I am impressed Andrea." Chris was now certain that this was one woman that he wanted to persue. "Although, I suppose you get that from your father. The want to sail is a wonderful thing."

"It's in my blood." she agreed, " Although my mother was the one for adventure..." she smiled faintly, " My father always said that she was a free spirit, untameable and care free. He always said he was lucky. But my mother she loved him. Was tethered to him more than he knew. That's why she sailed with him, that's why she did everything she could do with him even though society might have frowned at a woman doing unseemly or unladylike things, she would go where papa went." and that incentive took her life along with the rest of Andrea's immediate family.

Christopher listened carefully, once again. It was as if he wanted to hang onto every word that she said and he wanted to learn everything he could about her. "Your father was right. He was lucky. It is very hard to find women who will even consider sailing or that are free spirits. There are not that many out there, because the majority of them are scared of what other people would say to them or how society would look at them. I admire your mother for that, and I admire you as well for the same thing. You're the first woman I've met that would even think of sailing, let alone do it. Sure, there are the ones who get on a boat to travel, but I mean just for the fun of it." He smiled gently.
The waiter appeared and Christopher gave him a look that said 'leave her alone' before ordering drinks. "I hope that butterbeer is alright with you. I have had a craving for it since we didn't have anymore on the ship."

"Butterbeer's fine." she smiled, "I'm afraid I've never been able to stomach conventional things. Father indulged me too much you might say, and after he was gone...well I mostly did...my own thing." she said with a shrug and averted her eyes to indicate that she would rather not talk about what she did after her father's death. Of course he would know what she did if he knew who she was, that could never happen.

"That's quite alright," he said. Christopher noticed that she didn't really want to talk about after her father's death. He wasn't going to push her to tell him about her history. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable. "Maybe, you could sail with me one day if you wanted to. After I leave here and drop off what I'm supposed to be delivering, I'm planning on going back home and visiting for once."
Christopher studied Andrea again. She really was a beauty. "You know, I think that you're the most interesting girl I've met."

She raised a brow at that last comment and smiled, "I bet you say that to a lot of girls." she teased. She knew some of the people he met and he had met *very* interesting people indeed. Her eyes softened however falling on the napkin at her lap. "You are the most interesting person I have ever met." she said with such quiet conviction it was hard to argue with her, but she knew exactly who she was talking to, and he was...so much larger than life itself, he filled her thoughts sometimes.

Christopher laughed. "Actually, I don't say that to many girls. The only other girl I've said that to has been Christine, my niece." Other girls hadn't really been interesting enough to keep his interest for too long. He never even took them to dinner or anything like that.
His look softened and his smile was completely genuine. "That has been the first time I've been told that. Thank you."
The waiter returned with their drinks. He gave a sneer to Christopher and he just smiled in response. The waiter left, and he laughed quietly looking back to Andrea. "I do believe that waiter has it in for me. He hasn't been able to keep his eyes off of you."
