Andrea glanced in the waiter's direction and shrugged. She had eyes for no one but Chris, although it was strange to have a man look at her, and look at her the way the men were looking at her. She was a pretty child when she was younger, and was told often that when she grew into her features she'd be even prettier, but she had cropped her hair so short and made a muck of her face for so long she really didn't hold much stock in whatever beauty she supposedly had.
"Tell me more about your niece."

Christopher was relieved that Andrea didn't have any interest in the waiter and he hid the smile that wanted to appear on his face.
"Christine is sixteen now. She's been sailing with me for awhile actually. We've always had her tutors so she wouldn't get so behind on her school work. She's pretty independent and strong willed. She has also caught onto how to sail, and I'm telling you the truth, I bet you that she can give me a run for my money when it comes to sailing." Christopher gave a laugh. "Although, this year, her father made her go to school. I mean, its a good thing that she is going to school so she can be around people her age but the ship has gotten a lot quieter without her. It's a lot different I do believe."

"She sounds like quite a lady. I would like to meet her." she didn't realize herself how forward that sounded, simply because she actually had met Christine in the past, and then it was as Andrew, how she would so love to meet Christine as Andrea and get to know the girl as a girl might. It wasn't fair her lot, but she did her best not to bemoan things, it was only here and only now that she wanted so desperately to make him approve of her did she start to wish for the proper education she left behind.

"That she is," replied Christopher with a small laugh. "That she is." His ears perked up when she said that she would like to meet Christine. Maybe this was the one he was looking for. He thought that maybe Christine would like her at least. Andrea was knowledgable when it came to sailing, and he was sure that she and Christine could have lots to talk about. The image of him bringing Andrea home entered his mind. He hadn't even known this woman a day and he was already thinking about bringing her home with him. Did she have him under a spell or something? Although, Christopher felt as if he already knew this woman some how or another. He couldn't place where he had met her though.
"Maybe you can," he said without thinking to much. Christopher didn't mind that Andrea was being forward or anything like that. He actually found it quite enjoyable. "I think that she would like you."

Andrea smiled he was charming really, not that she didn't expect him to be, but still, here dressed as a woman, she was so...conscious of him everything about him, his mannerisms, she noticed he did things this way or that which gave her tell tell indications that he was indeed interested in what she was saying and that in itself was a heady feeling.
"Do you?" she asked, "What makes you say that?"

Andrea seemed to be truly interested in possibly going home with him, and Christopher might just let her. He was already thinking about asking her to go out with him sometime tomorrow.
"Well, you seem to be of the adventurous sort, and Christine is like that. You both like sailing and you both seem independent and strong willed," he commented. "Besides I enjoy talking to you and having a full on conversation, and I'm sure that Christine would as well."

Andrea was shocked this was going so well, that it was so easy to get to know him as a female might get to know him, then again she knew almost everything about him.
"Will you be at port long?" she asked though she already knew the answer and then began worrying once more how she was going to capture his interest so well that he'd take her with him.

"I think that I'm going to be here a few more days. I'll let the crew take a break and get well rested. The ship also needs to be restocked, so we can slowly work on that." Christopher had then decided that he was going to be here for almost a week if not a day or two over. He wanted to get to know Andrea the best he could before he would make his decision to possibly ask her to go with him the rest of the way on his voyage and then back to his home. He would make it home in time for Christmas and he knew that it would be a shock to his brothers if he came home with a woman. That would be a first time.
"What about you? Do you plan on staying here long?"

"I have no immediate plans for the future." she said with a smile, though that smile was due more to the fact that she knew he was extending the trip now, and she felt partially responsible. That was certainly a sign wasn't it? At least she'd have time to spend with him for the week, and maybe, if she was a very good girl...he'd take her with him. She could be Andrea again, she could be a woman, and sail the seas with him, oh it wasn't nearly proper, but really Christopher wasn't the type to seduce a lady...certainly if he were to ask her to go with him his intentions would be more honorable than that...or maybe it was wishful thinking.

"So you just go wherever the wind takes you," he asked. Christopher could understand that. He usually went where the wind took him as well, unless of course he was taking a shipment somewhere.
"I used to do that a lot. I still do from time to time. It's nice whenever you don't have somewhere you should be." Christopher smiled. He was surprisingly enjoying himself and found that he was opening up to her more than he had opened to anyone except for Andrew and Christine. Usually, Christopher didn't talk about his work, or his plans but he had with those two.

"Well I wouldn't say that I didn't have plans...just nothing set in stone." she told him, oh she had plans...or designs rather, and on him. Though she had to step away from the situation and wonder if it was really him she wanted or was it a chance at freedom, a chance at love? Perhaps it was both, but she knew Chris, well if there was such a thing as "knowing Chris" she cared about him yes, but was he a safe man to entrust one's heart to? She had been with him most of her youth, and growing up on a sailor's ship was a fast journey into adulthood, she had seen Chris when he was a young adult and just as eager for a woman as the rest of the crew usually was, and she had seen him charm the pants off of many. She wanted things to be different between them, could she make that happen?
She shrugged, "Perhaps I just don't know where I'm supposed to be, and I'm looking for that place."

Christopher listened to her and didn't notice anyone else around them. She held his attention greater than anyone else ever had. "Maybe you'll find that place where you're supposed to be sometime soon. I kind of hope that I find that place where I should be sometime. I'm not supposed to be at sea forever I don't suppose." He gave her a smile.
Since the last time he spoke to Andrew, the more he thought about the possiblity of settling down. Christopher felt the need for adventure all the time, however settling down would be an adventure. Of course, it would be a great adventure if he could find the right woman to settle down with. The possiblity of having a few children running around would be nice in the future. However, he wouldn't start to worry too much at those thoughts until he found a woman that he enjoyed being with and vice versa.

"Why's that?" she asked with a gentle curve to her lips. It was strange how all deportment and class came back to her as she ate her food. She was refined and graceful and yet were he to look too close to her hands he'd see them as worn and rough as any other sailor's. Be that as it may the life of a sailor had added many things to her figure as well, such as the sleek look she held, and her golden skin tone.
"I could live at sea, as long as there was one place I could anchor at someplace to call home I suppose."

"If I did have a place that I could call home and had someone to go home to, I could continue to sail. Although if I do finally get that place, I could see myself staying there for awhile and helping to possibly raise a family. Then if there were children, they could experience sailing, but I wouldn't force them to like it they would be their own."
Christopher had always thought about staying alone for a good chunk of his life and settling down never really crossed his mind. Although ever since Christine had brought it up, he couldn't get it out of his head. The images of having a family wasn't as frightening as he used to think.

It was more than Andrea could hope for speaking to Chris and hearing his thoughts so like her own. She worried inwardly wondering if she was pushing this attraction because she wanted a normal life, or if indeed she liked Christopher. She loved and admired him more than any man she knew, and for a good portion of her life she had felt as if he were taking care of her. She was still a young girl when he picked her up and allowed her to join him, but he was a man at the time. Now she was a woman, a young woman, and he was still a man, funny thing age, but her view of him had changed so rapidly in the last few weeks she didn't know where to land, and what to think.
"Do you often think of the future like this?" she asked, he had talked about it with her as Andrew and now as Andrea but to her knowledge he never had conversations like this with the rest of the crew.

Christopher didn't want to push anything on her. It wasn't like he was going to just go ahead and drop to one knee and ask her to marry him, but he didn't want to lead her to thinking that he would definitely choose her. If things would continue to go good like this, then she might be the one he had been looking for, but he wasn't going to push it. Every would come natural.
"I used to not," he admitted. "I guess as of late I have been thinking about it a little more, but I'm just taking things as they come." Christopher sighed he hadn't talked to anyone else about what he thought his future could be like expect with Andrew. Those thoughts came easily with him, just like they were coming easy with Andrea. Maybe the two would get along if he did come to the decision to bring her along on the ship.

"I suppose I can relate. " she shrugged looking at her plate, " I never used to think about the future until well.. recently." she sighed, " I realized I was nineteen years old with few skills that extend beyond sailing, no dowry, and virtually no real past. The future...was suddenly the present, and well.. here I am, and most of the time I have to wonder if here's where I'm supposed to be."

Nineteen? She was young, but he wasn't too much older. Christopher did admit that she looked older than her age, but that could be because of the fact that she had to grow up so fast.
"Maybe you'll end up finding out where you are supposed to be. Hopefully you will find that anchorage that you can call home." He gave her one of his geniune smiles. "I think that the future will possibly hold something bright."
Christopher took a drink from his mug and peered over at her. "I think that you'll find out that you have more skills than you think you do."

"That's very kind of you to say but..." she shook her head, " We've just met, you don't know what skills I have, or if I even have the ones I say I do, how can you be so sure of what I am not?" she asked wondering about his certainty.

"Well for one, you have a graceful presence about you. You appear to be very well educated and a woman that can hold your own," said Christopher. "Even being on a ship you pick up new skills and I'm sure that you have a few that you've picked up from there." He took another sip from his mug. "And you are right, we have only just met, but you make a very good first impression. There's a lot you can tell from first impressions."
