Dominic raised a single eyebrow as he smirked at Aubrielle. When a girl said they could "squeeze you in" it meant they were wide open but didn't want to admit it. He wouldn't ruin her fun by pointing this out. And he wouldn't want to make her angry again. Newburys were known for their short fuse and he had already lit hers about twelve times tonight.
"Great. Thirsty? I was thinking about sneeking out to Hogsmeade."

Aubri glanced up quickly. "You go to Hogsmeade just because you're thirsty? I'm doing homework."
The truth was, she wanted to sneak to Hogsmeade with him. She wanted to do something fun, but she was the good daughter, even though Lyra got all the credit for being good. Lyra was the one who got to have the fun and sneak around and all of that. And if she were to sneak out with Dominic, and they got caught, Lyra would kill her.

He continued to smirk at her. "Chicken," he stated flatly.

Aubri frowned, and bit her lip from snapping at him.
"I am not," she said, her eyes flashing. "I'm just busy and it's cold outside and Hogsmeade is hardly worth a *drink.*"

"It's always worth it to sneak out of the castle. But if you're afraid you might get caught..." He trailed off and turned around, staring out over the grounds below. He contemplated teasing her by saying he would ask Lyra instead. But Aubri would likely never speak with him again. And he liked messing with her. Her eyes sparkled when she got mad at him.

Aubri huffed, angrier at Dominic than she should have been because he was quite capable of nailing her thoughts right on the head. It was irritating.
"I'm not scared of anything," she replied. "I'm just not finished with this yet, and... and..." Oh, darn it to hell. She couldn't think of another excuse, and she didn't want him to see her flustered like this.

She was caught and Dominic smiled. "When you're done with that then we'll go, since you can't come up with any other reason not to go." What would her next excuse be?

"Fine," Aubri almost snapped, but tried not to. He wasn't beng rude anymore, so she should be nice to him. He just had a way of getting under her skin and she didn't like him. Is that why he called himself charming?
She tried, for another ten minutes, to do her work, but it was hard when he was there, and she finally gave up, silently packing it all away,

While she worked, Dominic switched between examining her and examining what he could see of the Forbidden Forest and the Black Lake. Everything he looked at was beautiful in the moonlight. After only ten minutes or so she was packing up her things. He had seen her star chart when she first came up to the tower, there was no way she had finished it. He had been bothering her too much for her to get it all done in such a short period of time. This made Dominic smile to himself. "Done already?"

"Yes, I am," Aubri lied. "I'm very good in Astronomy." She was, but not that good. She was going to have to finish her chart in the morning, or tomorrow night, but maybe she could be alone. "Let me just get rid of all of my stuff first, all right? Before we go, I mean."

"I have to put that away too," he replied, gesturing to the pile on the other side of the tower. His poor forgotten little mouse was sleeping in its box, his text book lying against it. "Meet me on the fourth floor in ten minutes, near the large gold mirror." He moved across the tower to gather up his things, which took only a moment.

Aubri only nodded and said okay. Ten minutes was enough to to let her be a girl, and she sighed, hurrying to her room.
She stashed her work quickly and then went into the bathroom, letting her hair down and touching up her make up. Dominic may have been cocky and irritating, but she still wanted to look good.
Hurrying back out of her room, she only hoped she didn't run into Lyra. It never dawned on her to ask herself why she was meeting him instead of just blowing him off at this point.

Lyra had been in the common room when Aubrielle came in and went to her room. Lyra didn't bother to say anything or even ackowledge her little sister's presence. But when Aubri came back down a few minutes later, looking different than when she had gone up, Lyra spoke up. "Where are you running off to?" She looked harder at Aubrielle. "Did you put on makeup?" This made Lyra get up from her seat and cross the room, so that Aubri couldn't escape without giving her an answer.

Well, so much for getting out of here undetected. She sighed inwardly, already coming up with a battle plan for how to deal with her sister.
"No, I've been wearing make up all day," she lied, but it seemed like a reasonable enough lie to her. "And if you must know, which I don't see why you do, I'm finishing some of my homework."

The signs were obvious. Aubrielle's shifting eyes. The fresh make up. The lack of books. She certainly wasn't going to study, at least not anything on Headmaster Dumbledore's approved curriculum. Aubrielle clearly did not give her sister any credit. Lyra had pulled the exact same sorts of things she knew her little sister was trying to pull now. You can't fool the expert.
"Who is he?" she asked, keeping her demanding tone to a minimum. Her curiousty currently outweighed her feelings of sibling rivalry.

Aubri took a breath to get defensive, but stopped. "There's no 'he'," she replied, sighing softly. Dominic irritated her. And he was rude, and pushed her buttons. He certainly didn't count as a he. Not now, not ever. She was just going to prove that she wasn't scared of getting caught.
"And anyway, I'm not doing anything wrong, so you can't yell at me."

Lyra raised an eyebrow but kept herself from giving a nasty response, many of which were brewing in her head as she pursed her lips to keep from saying anything. "I wasn't going to yell at you..." she finally replied, a little strain in her voice. "I'm your big sister. I have a duty to make sure you don't get into any trouble. But if you're only studying, then by all means, get to it."

Aubri eyed her suspiciously. "No, you usually make sure that I don't ever get *you* in trouble. Anyway, I'm not getting in trouble. I'll see you later."
She tried to pretend like her sister's guilt trips didn't bother her, but they always did. Sometimes, it almost felt like Lyra cared about her.

Well that was true. Anytime Aubri should be in trouble it was Lyra who was actually punished. Or that was how it felt to Lyra. But the fact still remained that Aubri was clearly not going to study. "Do you think I'm daft?" She glared at her sister. "I'm not. And I know what you're up to. But believe me, if you get caught doing something you shouldn't be doing, I'm not taking the wrap for it this time. Mum'll have a letter from me before Dumbledore can even think to write her about whatever it is you're doing." She didn't like not knowing what was going on, so she would pretend that none of it had happened at all. Lyra quickly turned and headed to her dormitory.

Dominic stood at the head of the stairs that lead from the dungeons to the ground floor. He was about to give up on Aubrielle and call it a night when he heard footsteps. He would wait to see who it was before deciding whether or not Aubri had chickened out and stood him up.
