"Good," he said, making himself comfortable on the ground near her things. He leaned his back against the telescope and folded his arms across his chest. He looked her over for a while, examining the none too pleased look on her face. "Do I annoy you?"

"I don't really know you very well," Aubri replied, her answer surprisingly diplomatic.
She didn't understand why he was all of a sudden in her business, but she had walked in on his study time. Well, that wasn't her fault! She needed to get her own homework done right now.

He laughed at her diplomacy. She was cute even when she wasn't angry. "Would you like to? I've been told I can be very charming. Although it looks as though I'm off my game tonight." Dominic laughed a little, still watching her. He knew the truthful answer which she had not given was probably 'yes' but he would not let that deter him. He was bored of homework, and had no where to be. And he had seen Aubri many times, always with a group of friends so that he could not speak to her without all the pressure that girls were known for putting on a guy. This may be his only chance, he wasn't going to give it up easily. But if that look on her face went from annoyed to anything worse, he would be gone in a flash.

What was she supposed to say? No, I don't want to know you at all? No, that was more her sister's style.
"Can I ask you a question, Dominic?" She asked, putting her eye to the telescope as though she were now making small talk. She didn't answer his question right away, but she wasn't running or telling him to get out, either. Truth was, she didn't mind the conversation, just as long as he didn't start pointing out her mistakes again.

Dominic couldn't possibly begin to imagine what sort of question she would have to ask him. But at the moment he didn't much care either. He looked thoughtfully at her legs while she loomed above him, staring into the telescope nonchalantly as if his presence didn't throw her. "Sure doll. Let's hear it." His gaze traveled up her body until it reached her face, where it stayed. She had one of the most beautiful faces in the school. There were only a handful of girls who were on Aubrielle's level, and most of them would have left the tower the second they saw him there if they weren't interested in him. Aubri's sister, for one.

Aubri knew most girls ould have asked why he was irritating them, or hanging around them, or anything stupid like that.
Aubri, though very girly and generally high maintnance, was not most girls.
"What is one thing you would never want to get caught doing?" She was still writing things in on her chart, and she waited a moment before looking over her shoulder at him. "I'm getting to know you, and I can decide for myself if you're as charming as they say."
Her voice was still apathetic, but he was here and obviously intent on staying for a while... she may as well have some fun with it. Maybe he'd be less inclined to point out her faults that way.

"What?" Of all the questions he could have thought she would ask, that one had never crossed his mind. What an odd question. "If I don't want to get caught doing it, I'm certainly not going to tell you about it. Besides, I can't think of anything I would care to hide," he said with a shrug. It was the truth. Off the top of his head, nothing came to mind. Nothing he'd admit to doing while talking to a girl. "What about you? Anything secretive you care to share?"

"What a terribly boring answer," Aubri replied, giving him a look over her shoulder. "How am I supposed to learn about you if you give me answers like that? I'm not going to tell you my answer either then."
She fell silent again with that statement and marked something down on her star chart, a slight smirk on her lips. She was curious to see what his next move would be where she was concerned.

"Would you prefer me to have a lengthy list of secrets to choose from to answer your question? Let me think on it. And in the mean time, I'll try to answer any other questions you have for me." He was going to give her an answer before she left the tower. He promised himself he would.

Aubri rolled her eyes. "Sarcasm doesn't look good on you," she said softly. Honestly, she hadn't intended her question to lead them here. For Merlin's sake, she had been flirting with him, and now he was back to making her feel stupid. If she didn't really have to get her star chart done, she would be packing up to leave already.
So, mental notes about Dominic... no sense of humor, and arrogant.
"You're not nearly as charming as you seem to think you are."

Dominic shrugged. "We see what we want to." He went back to silently studying her while she worked. If she had been flirting with him, she had been doing an awful job of it. He was fairly experienced at flirting, not like the Slytherin boys that Aubri was probably used to, but experienced enough. He'd flirted with many girls before, and had many girls flirt with him before. None of them were quite like Aubri. But then, he was still sure she was annoyed with him, so he wouldn't have seen her flirtation if it had been posted on her forehead in bold letters.

"And what do you see right now, Dominic?" Aubri asked, trying to sound uninterested. She was still annoyed with him, and she wanted him to know it, but then she shook her head.
"Nevermind, don't answer that. I probably just gave you a great opening to point out more of my inadequacies." Honestly, she hadn't had a problem with him before. It was just his propensity to criticise her that put her on edge. Years of living in Lyra's shadow made her strive to be perfect, or at least better than Lyra. Better grades, prettier, nicer, meaner... whatever she could. It made criticism hard for herto handle.

He opened his mouth to say something about seeing her stunning legs, but she cut him off before he could even make a sound. Here he was, about to compliment her, and she was so insecure that she thought he would criticize her. He knew not to ever do that again, that was for sure. "Actually love, I don't know that I could find any other fault you possess. And I was going to comment on your legs, but I'm afraid you might bite my head off worse for complimenting you than for criticizing you." He grinned at her. "You really need to work on your ego, love. It's much too small for such a gorgeous being."

A small smile tugged at the corners of her lips, and she could almost feel a blushon her cheeks. Thank Merlin it was night, and he at least wouldn't be able to see the blush. He certainly had a way of affecting a girl, she would give him that.
She narrowed her eyes a little playfully. "You're pointing out faults again," she teased him. Technically, telling her that her ego was too small was still pointing out a flaw. But it had been a very nice compliment as well.

Dominic let out a single, small chuckle. "I suppose I am. But if you won't hold it against me, I won't hold it against you that you're pointing out my faults either. Deal?" He stood and pushed his hand forward to her, making their humorous deal final with a handshake.

She quirked her lips to the side, but decided to refrain from pointing out that she wasn't mentioning faults. Unless he meant that pointing out her faults was one of his own. Maybe they were right about how charming he was.
She took his hand. "Deal. But that doesn't mean you get to point out more."

He raised his right hand into the air. "Scouts honor," he said with a small grin.
Dominic took a step back and leaned against the ledge, folding his arms acroos his chest and resting one foot against the wall. "What are you doing tonight? Besides homework I mean." He had no plans other than his forgotten transfiguration work. And he would love an excuse to roam about the halls with a beautiful girl.

Aubri glanced over her shoulder and raised an eyebrow at him, and she didn't let the smile creep on to her lips until she was facing away from him.
"Are you asking to see if I have time to spend with you, Dominic?" She asked, and couldn't help but wanted if this exact exchange would be going on between him and any other girl that had come up here. Or, more specifically, between him and Lyra. Or Sam, who she was becoming extremely jealous of. 15 years trying to get her sister's affection, and Sam steals it in a week.

"Well now that we're on good terms...yeah. Unless you're busy of course. I'm sure the boys are all vying for your attention. You probably have plans for months ahead, don't you?" He hoped she didn't, but was near positive she did. If she was anything like her sister, Aubrielle would have a new date arranged for every night of the week. He prayed she wasn't like Lyra.

Aubri would have been embarrassed to admit that she had no plans for at least a month, unless she took Sam up on her offer to go dress shopping. Aubri would rather kill herself with a spoon.
"I might be able to squeeze you in somewhere," she murmured, her eyes not focused on him, but rather staring at the star chart on the ground as though she were deep in thought.
