Jackie's laughter faded slowly, where Dean's just seemed to die. Her smile remained, and she almost had tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. Her chest was heaving, and had anyone walked in on them, they could have assumed this scene was leading somewhere far less innocent.
Her smile eventually faded as well, and she was left looking up at Dean, and there was a very strong realization that she wanted that girl of his to be her.
It was a terrifying thought. Dean had been her best friend since they had met. Every day, he had been the one that she laughed with and told jokes to and everything, and all of a sudden, she couldn't picture being with anyone else but him.
She rolled to her side to get out from under him, or she might have just kissed him then, and Merlin only knew how disasterous that let down would be. "You should do this with your mystery girl," she said softly, trying to get out from under him.

Still, Dean didn't move. He couldn't. Merlin what was wrong with him? The answer to that question was, Jackie was under him and he had just lost all coherent thought, except about her. He wanted so much to lean down and kiss her, but it would be all to soon. He wanted to tell her that she was his mystery girl, but that would be all to soon too.
As Jackie rolled over on her side, Dean got the picture of his should move. His senses started trickling back. However, he lost them quickly as he looked at Jackie. Dean's head moved lower, closer to her's after she spoke. He snapped out of it and moved so that he was sitting on the floor with his back against the couch. What had just gotten into him? He ran a hand through his brown hair and then looked over to Jackie. "Well, that was fun."

"A real blast," she murmured, moving so that she was sitting with her back against the couch. but at the other end. She felt like a huge disaster had just happened. But if Dean hadn't mentioned that girl... she probably would have just kissed him and dealt with the consequences.
Merlin, being a girl really sucked sometimes. She was sure she was just making it up, but she thought she could feel a new mood in the air, and she hoped he didn't feel it.

Dean noticed that she slid far away from him. He was on one end and she on the other. Dean didn't really like that. Usually Jackie would be closer to him than that, and he had to admit, there was a slight awkwardness to the situation. He had asked Jackie about herself, in which she probably thought was another girl. Why did he have to ask? Why couldn't he have figured it out on his own? Was this going to mess up their friendship and the way they were because he asked about 'another' girl?
He was going to try to keep things as normal as he could. "So Jackie," he said wondering why she hadn't hit his tickle spot yet. "What else is on your mind?"

"I don't know," Jackie answered quickly, pulling her knees up to her chest and hugging them, setting her chin to her knees.
"I don't think I feel quite right," she finally said, after a long silence, trying to think of what to tell him. She was always honest with him, so it was hard to decide how to lie to him. "Maybe I shouldn't have jumped twice," she finished with a little smile.

He observed her for a moment. Jackie didn't seem like Jackie. She wasn't her usual joking self or anything. Dean managed to give her a half smile, but he was still trying to figure it out. He didn't understand it. "Maybe," he replied.
Dean looked over at her. Things had changed, it felt like. What else could he do to make things right? Not mention the 'mystery girl' again? He could do that because he already had her as his best friend, and hopefully sometime soon as his girlfriend.
"You going to be alright though," he asked folding his legs so that he was sitting indian style.

"Yeah," she said softly, her eyes unfocused and staring blankly at the chess board. "Yeah, I'll be all right."
Come on, Jackie, she said to herself. There was no reason to be like this to him. Besides, she was Jackie. And as tough and crazy as she was, she had the horrible habit of crying too much. It was the one thing she wished she could change about herself. She needed a filter for her emotions.
She never thought that this would be her reaction when he finally told her he had a girlfriend or a girl he liked, and she was really confused by the fact that she did feel this way. At any rate, she didn't want him to know why she was upset.
"I think I should go lay down," she whispered, and half of her wanted to run, the other half wanted him to take her in his arms and lay with her.

Dean frowned. He had known her long enough to know there was something she wasn't telling him. There was something wrong and Dean wasn't going to push it. Jackie would tell him whenever she was ready to tell him.
"Do you want to lay here on the couch? I'll stay with you," he offered. Honestly, Dean didn't want to leave her he wanted to spend as much time with her as he could.

She didn't want him to ask, she just wanted him to do it, but she wasn't going to say no.
"Yeah," she said softly. "If you don't mind staying." She finally turned to look at him, though her chin still rested on her knees. Her eyes were wide and apologetic. Dean had told her he wanted to go do something crazy and here she was turning him down, wanting to just be still with him.

"Alright then." A slow smile spread across his face and he moved to the couch. "Come on then," he said putting an arm on the back of the couch, waiting for her to move up beside him and lay on him. He wanted to do something crazy, and that something crazy was just spilling everything. Dean bit his tongue to keep himself from saying it.
"You know that I never mind staying."

Jackie crawled up onto the couch and into his arms, finding it just a little easier to breathe there.
"Dean," she said as she settled into him. "Tell me about your girl, okay? I mean, what kinds of things does she like? We'll figure out some really good ways for you to flirt. I only gave you basic ideas."

Dean smiled as Jackie crawled into his arms. He put his arms around her as she was settling against him. It was nice to be like this. Now she wanted him to tell her about her? Oh this was going to be interesting.
"Well, she's pretty easy to get along with. She's smart and she's not afraid to venture of the path," he began. "Her personality is probably my favorite, other than her brown eyes. She knows when to joke around and she knows when to be serious. She speaks up whenever I don't."

Jackie frowned now that Dean couldn't see her face. He was describing her, at least she thought so. She had heard him say most of these things about her at one point or another, which left her wondering, what the hell did this girl have that she didn't?
Was it the personality? Was she just too much to handle sometimes? Merlin knew she could be difficult to talk to when she had an idea in her head.
"Which means she might appreciate it if you spoke up about liking her. Or maybe not. I don't know, Dean. I was never really any good with other girls. I really want to help you, though."

"You help me everyday," said Dean. "You help me do things that I should do and finish things for me when I don't finish them." He gave her one of the biggest hints he could give her. He only wondered if she bothered to catch on.
"I'll just see how things go. I'll try the things that you've told me eariler. I just hope she responds in a good way to my actions." Dean smiled down at her.

"Yeah, me too," she said. She caught his hint, but didn't recognize it as a hint. In her eyes, he was failing to see that she could be that girl. The thought that it was she who failed to realize this never crossed her mind.
She brought her legs up and pulled herself into a little ball, resting snugly against his body. She was already so much smaller than him that this made her feel tiny, and therefor even safer in his hold.

Dean smiled comfortably and gently ran his fingers up and down Jackie's arm as far as he could reach. Moments like this were what he loved. He rested his head on hers as they were both quite for a moment, and fire was the only thing that could be heard.
He shifted gently under her, but he only pulled her as close as she could be. "So Ms. Jackie. Are your adrenaline junkie moments finally catching up with you, or are they switching over to me?"

"No, I still have them," she murmured softly, liking the quiet. Yes, she loved talking to him, but if she could do it without breaking the quiet moments, she would.
"I hope you're getting braver though. Risking my life is always so much more fun when you do it too," she teased, but it was certainly the truth. "I'm just tired today. So I'll make up for it with something really daring tomorrow."

"And I'll try to come up with reasons why you shouldn't, only to give in because you'll come up with some kind of bargining thing, and I'll be semi-forced into it," he said with a chuckle. "I'll make sure to bring my bravery with me tomorrow."
Dean continued to run his fingers up and down her arm gently with a smile still on his face. "Well, I'm sorry for wearing you out. Maybe we should get you more adapt to my abilities to make you tired. I feel like I could go another round," he added teasingly yet suggestively. He couldn't help it. It just seemed like a good moment to try and make her laugh.

Dean usually said very suggestive things to her, and she always passed them off as jokes, but today she wondered if she would even really mind if he meant them as suggestively as they sounded.
"Shh, Dean," she said. "You're making me feel weird about not having another idea to pursue today."

"Psh. Me making you feel weird? You're the one that makes me feel weird," he said. He realized what he said and knew he had to cover it up before he gave himself away. "cause of the way you actually can push me to do things." That didn't seem to help him either. Dean hushed for a moment with his face turning red. Good thing that she couldn't see his face.
"Maybe tomorrow you'll be up for more," he said changing the subject slightly from what he said.
