"Well technically I'm at Tanya's under durress.. she's been healing me but i'm about recovered as you can see. And as soon as she gives me a full bill of health she said by this weekend most likely then I can move back into mum & dad's. And NO I'm not telling you why I was being healed, so you can just nip the question now."

As if on cue, Xavier came running down the stairs at that precise moment. He had just finished being lectured by the Deputy Headmistress for talking back to one of his professors. He did that often, as he tended to have problems with authority.
"Hey, Justin!" he said excitedly, smiling at his eldest brother. Xavier's smiles were rare, which made them all the more pleasant to see. "And hey, Gwen. Sorry I'm late... I ran into a bit of trouble.."
He came to stand in front of Justin with his arms behind his back.

Her mouth had already been open to ask the question when he told her no, and she gave him a look. Gwen hated being told no, and it didn't usually happen.
"At least tell me you're all right," She asked him, her eyebrows raised in a way that said she wasn't happy he'd been injured at all.
She relented only when Xavier arrived, looking up at the youngest Scotts. "Good afternoon, Xav."

Justin grinned the instant he saw his little brother. "Xavier! About time you got here, what'd you get in trouble for, piss off some professor? They probably deserved it I'm sure." Juststin completely ignored his sister for a few minutes lavishing his attention on Xavier. Then he finally told her "I'll be fine Gwenny, don't worry Tanya has me well under control." That was the understatement of the year.

Xavier hesitated. It felt like he had walked in on something; that he was interrupting their conversation or something. He often had that feeling with all of his siblings, that he was just the annoying baby brother and they would stop talking about "important" things when he came along. He hated that feeling.
Kicking at a small clump of dust on the floor, he frowned. Even though Justin was talking to him and smiling, somehow it felt forced. "Yeah... I was getting yelled at by Professor McGonagall. What's going on, guys?"

"That ol' bag is still here huh? Man I used to get in soooo much trouble from her too. Her and Dumbledork." Justin really didn't care for either of them, they'd made his life hell with detentions and he'd lost so many points his senior year it was laughable now. He waited for Xavier to give him a hug, but he figured he must be going through that awkward boy stage when they didn't give out hugs to brothers in public.
"Umm.. hey Xavier can I talk to you later alone? I need you to do me a special favor... " he didn't want to say anything else about it in front of Gwen though.

Gwen looked up quickly when he said that to Xav, and a moment of anger flashed in her eyes. There was too much he wasn't telling her, too much he making sure she knew he wasn't telling her, and she didn't like it.
"You know what, I was supposed to meet someone about a project. Why don't you two talk now?" She suggested, getting to her feet and smoothing out her robes. "I'll see you this weekend, okay, Justin?"

"Gwenny don't be like that," He could see the hurt look in her eyes and he knew her well enough to know generally why. "It's not like that, there's just some things I can't tell you. Your my sister and someone's gotta keep an eye out for you. Would you please stop acting like Timmothy and come see me? I haven't seen you in six months and you can't just go stomping off all huffy on me just because I'm not going to tell you things I can't. Stop being spoiled." The threat was in there somewhere... that steel understone that said she'd better snap out of it or he was going to have alternative plans that she wouldn't like.

He couldn't tell her what was going on, but he could tell Xavier? The question was in her eyes, but she didn't verbalize it. She knew she was acting spoiled, and being the only girl with four brothers usually gave her the liscence to act that way.
She didn't say anything to him, but she decided to stay, and she turned to Xavier, giving him a hug and kissing the top of his head. "You should be careful, Xav, not to get in so much trouble."

"Mmmph," Xavier grunted as Gwen folded him into a hug. He made a feeble attempt and trying to pull away, but it was mostly for show. The truth was, only his mother and Guinevere could get away with hugging him. When his brothers tried, there was usually a battle. But for all of his protests, he loved his family. "Gwen, stop," he said. "Anyway, you get into almost as much trouble as I do. I was only yelled at for talking back to a professor; it wasn't my fault he was being an idiot. Why shouldn't I call him on it?"
He glanced over at Justin, wondering what it was that he wanted to talk to him about. If his brother wanted him to do a favor, he would certainly do it. Justin was one sibling he'd do just about anything for.

She ended the hug when he asked her too. She was always happy when he let her hug him that she wouldn't push her limits.
"I don't get into trouble at all, thank you." That was a lie, but she never talked back to teachers. "Besides, when we realize that we're smarter than other people, it's usually best to keep it to ourselvs, all right?"
She came back and sat on the steps, a silent peace offering to Justin.

Justin raised an eyebrow at Gwen's last comment, "she's right, it's better if people underestimate you, it gives you the opportunity to use it to your advantage and never be suspected. Besides they watch you less if they don't expect you to be the cause of the trouble." He leaned over and gave Gwen a hug as she sat down.
"So what all have I missed the last six months?" Justin asked them both at the same time, his gaze including Xavier.

Gwen wasn't exactly sure just how much trouble she or Xav had gotten into in the last six months. Timothy and Thane were free from this worry, as they never actually got into trouble.
She gave Xavier a narrow-eyed smile of conspiracy that said she wouldn't tattle on anything if he didn't.
"Nothing, really, Justin. We've all just been in school. I've been pretending to study for my NEWTs. I think Tim's just glad he doesn't have the exams this year. And Thane and Xav are still too blissfully young to have to take them." She smiled at her youngest brother. "I'll trade you," she offered.

"Now see.. if I didn't know better, I might believe you Gwenny. Luckily I know when you're lying." He turned to Xavier also, "Xavier, have you found some girl you were going to ask to the dance too? It seems Timothy might be beating you to the punch. You're supposed to be the suave slytherin with the girls, right? So who are you going with?" He just naturally assumed his youngest brother would have a date already being the pride of the family.

Xavier shrugged. "I don't have a date yet," he said. "I'm still weighing my options." He puffed his chest out a little, trying to appear cooler and more mature than he actually was. "You know, there are a lot of girls in this school; I want to make sure I pick the right one. And I'm pickier than Timothy is." He made a slight face at the mention of Timothy. "I think Thane has a date, though. I saw him hanging around the Ravenclaw champion the other day."

"The Ravenclaw champion, eh? Not bad at all. Is she a pureblood, I hope?" He seemed a little surprised and a tad impressed that Thane, the forgetful mess that he was had actually been the first of his siblings to get a date apparently. And though she was likely a bookworm like Thane, she was a champion and that would be good. Maybe the boy had ambition after all, despite his flaws and house colors.
"I'm sure you of all people will find the best the school has to offer. And I don't even need to ask if you will pick a good pureblood girl. I can't say I blame you for being picky. After all the Scotts do deserve only the best." It occurred to him that he'd forgotten to ask Timothy if the girl he liked was a pureblood, but he cringed at the thought of what his answer might be.
What Xavier didn't know was the fact that Justin was most proud of him of all his siblings, and while Gwen had always been close to him mainly due to age differences, Justin thought that Xavier and himself were much more alike than any of his other siblings. It was the reason he'd wanted to speak to him today, for a favor. Xavier was the only one he trusted to do it, and he was a Slytherin after all. Xavier was his likely his favorite sibling that he felt he got along with the most, despite having the largest age difference.

Xavier grinned. "Yeah, of course. I'm looking for a good pureblood. It's a pity there aren't more Slytherin girls my age I could go with. The only one, really, is Andrea, but she's always hanging all over Regulus Black, so I'm sure she'll be going with him. But I'll keep looking," he said. "There are a few cute girls in Gryffindor I have my eye on; I just have to find out if they're pureblood."
Xavier didn't really care if the girl was pureblood, at least not for himself. But he certainly wouldn't want to get in trouble with the family, so he was determined to find a suitable girl. If he couldn't, he supposed he could probably just go alone. It would probably be preferable for his family.

Gwen sighed heavily. "Oh, for Merlin's sake, Justin, leave him alone," she said, and the turned her attention to her brother. "It's a dance. You're 13. I really doubt that it matters if the girl is a pureblood or not. It's not like you'd be committing your whole life to her."
She raised an eyebrow back at Justin, considering just what her family might do if she was seen kissing a girl. She didn't swing that way, but she'd be willing to do it just to get a rise out of them. She'd have to be muggleborn, too, of course. It was an idea she could toy with.
"And you're preventing me from finding a good pureblood boy because you asked me to the dance."

"Well you don't have to go with me, I just thought you might like the company. But if you find yourself a pureblood boy to ask you then I'll let out out of going with me. Deal?" Justin smiled charmingly at his sister.

Gwen grumbled and frowned. "You know I'd rather go with you any day," she said. Her point was just that he shouldn't be praising anyone for their dates when she was going with him. It was a childish point and she let it go. She would have far more fun with justin, anyway.
