"Um well..." Tim thought about the few times he had been around her and only a few things seemed to catch his attention. "Um well I havent really talked in depth with her, when we were at dinner the other night I held her hand and that made her smile, I also told her she had pretty eyes and she smiled then too, but thats about it sorry." Tim felt ashamed he didn't even know what Kat liked, what made her happy. All he knew was that just being around her made him happy.

"Hold on lover boy, you mean to tell me that you have a crush on some girl you barely know? I mean... don't know anything about except how she looks?" He had a proud grin on his face... "well now, I thought you'd be less shallow than that.. you're starting to sound like me after all." He smirked teasing his brother.. he just couldn't help himself sometimes.

"Be nice, Justin," She said, putting a hand on his arm. She turned back to Timothy.
"All right, Tim. Let's... see. You'll have to hold her hand when you ask her," she teased. "Is she very feminine?" She asked. "Or.. or is she more of a tomboy?" She was trying to figure out something that would work, and it helped the more she knew about the girl.

As his brother taunted him mercilessly he used the one thing everyone in the family knew that really got to him. "Shut up! I'm nothing like you Justin!" He had always been proud of the fact he was not as hateful as most of the family, he had nothing against muggles or muggle born wizards. "Yes, she's feminine as far as I can tell. Maybe dad will let me dip into the vault and I can buy her flowers or something, I don;t know."

"It's all right, Tim," she said, trying to keep them from fighting. "Listen, we'll figure out what to do about your girl," she said. "This will require a little bit of romancing... are you up to it?" She asked, smiling.
Her other hand squeezed Justin's arm slightly, begging him to stop teasing Timothy.

"Oh for Merlin's sake.." He sighed and leaned back on the steps... "How hard is it to ask a girl to the dance? Here watch this... " He stood up then pushing himself off the stairs and he leaned down and picked up his sister as a demonstration by her hand pulling her gently to her feet. He lifted the other hand in his and looked into his sisters eyes and asked very suavely, "Gwenny, would you allow me the pleasure of taking you to the dance?" He brought her hands up to his lips and only barely kissed the top of her hands.

Gwen rolled her eyes. "Yes, yes, Mr. Scotts, you're very charming. But you could use a good lesson in romancing as well," she said, winking at Timothy.
That was a lie. If a guy had the guts to say that to her, she'd say yes in a second.

"I'm being perfectly serious Gwen. Will you let me escort you to your dance?" He gave her his most charming smile. "..unless you already have a date that is."

Gwen's smile faded. He surprised her with that, and she hesitated, though for no negatve reason at all. "What?"
A second later she took her hands from his and threw her arms around him. "Oh, merlin, you saved me. I didn't want to go alone and I was going to have to ask whats his name," she said, and nodded. "I'd be honoured to be your date, Justin."

Justin grinned and chuckled softly as her hands were suddenly around him in a hug. He liked making is sister happy, though he hadn't quite expected her to say yet.. but he'd hoped she would. Though for more reasons than one. He genuinely enjoyed his sister's company, he wanted to keep other guys away from his little sister, and he needed a reason to be in the castle.. it all was in one nice perfect little sister. Well.. if she'd been in slytherin it would have been perfect but he'd over look it for his sister.
"Good, I had hoped I didn't come back early for no good reason." He winked at her, then turned to his little brother. "See, Timmy that is how you ask a girl to the dance." He chuckled softly.

Growiling with rage he had no intention of fighting his brother but the idea had occured to him. Instead putting on his brave front he stood his ground while Justin asked Gwen to the dance. Timmy knew Justin was smooth and charming and knew how to get girls all day long but if that meant being a hateful person than Timmy liked not being smooth. "Honestly Justin if being romantic means I have to be as hateful as you, then thank Merlin I am the way I am." Tim wasn't normally very brave but for all his joking and teasing Justin was still his brother and would never really hurt him. "I'm ready for anything Gwen, I really like her."

Justin gave Tim one of those looks that didn't normally appear on his face, genuine hurt. If it had come from anyone else that wasn't a Scotts he would have ignored it or maybe been proud of it... but from his family... it was a different story. He actually cared about his brother no matter what he teased him.. but hateful?? "I'm not hateful, whatever makes you say that? And I'm pretty sure Gwen just pointed out that I'm not romantic either. Do you really think so bad of me?"

Gwen turned on Timothy. "Tim, listen... do you think you and I can talk later?"
She obviously wasn't going to keep things civil between them, and she was happy to have her brother back. She didn't want to waste her time playing peacekeeper.
"It will give me time to come up with a really great idea."

"You don't have to leave Timmy... here I'll even sit down here and behave myself." He moved to sit down next to his brother ruffling his hair. "Since apparently my asking you to the dance is hateful... enlighten us Gwenny on what is romantic.." He leaned back and watched just smiling though inside he was still a little hurt that his brother had called him hateful when he hadn't been hateful at all that he could think of.. okay well maybe the comment about being a lover boy but.. that wasn't anything out of the normal anyways.

Realizing he had gone too far with the hateful remark he looked very apologetic. "You know I love you Justin, but it's no secret that the family isn't too fond of muggles or muggle born wizards. I'm sorry Justin, I was upset i'm really nervous and I really like this girl and I wish I could be charming like you but I never have been." As he heard Gwen ask if they could talk later he almost fell over, Gwen had always been there when he needed it but not now. Tim was hurt, he came to his sister over everyone else in the family and she was pretty much slapping him in the face at this moment.
"I can't wait to see ya at dinner Justin! Don't worry I wont tell anyone." Giving his big brother a hug, he turned to his sister. "Don't worry about it Gwen, I can take care of myself." Walking past his sister he ignored her as he walked up the stairs and off to figure out how to ask Kat to the dance.

"Timothy Scotts come back here you fool." Justin sighed and went off to get his little brother. "I swear if we aren't the most disfunctional family unit in the world... don't get your knickers in a knot just because I haven't been around in a few months. I was just trying to help you know." He half hauled his brother back in that 'i'm the big brother and i love you but don't you dare walk out on your sister' kind of way.

"Tim!" She called, realizing he was angry, or hurt. Whatever it was, he was distancing himself, and she hated herself for it. Justin was off after him though, thank Merlin, an bringing him back.
She gave them both a look. "I adore both of you, you know. And I hate when you do this." Sighing, she reached out and took Timothy's hand. "I want to help you."

Timothy stood there as his sister held his hand and he felt stupid for acting like such a child. "I'm sorry Gwen, I just.." Pausing he looked down at the ground more than slightly ashamed of his actions. "I really like Kat and I...I" As he said her name the sight of her flashed through his mind realizing it was just a memory he almost laughed at himself. "I really like her."

Justin just sat back on the stairwell and watched his siblings, he was in no hurry and didn't really have anything better to do anyways. Besides despite his teasing his brother, he still cared. He just didn't understand why it was so hard to ask a girl to a dance. Especially from the loverboy who was likely the more naturally romantic of all the family. And ..why was it that the boy was infatuated with some girl he barely seemed to know. Well he could understand being attracted or even seducing someone he barely knew, but to get all doe eyed about it was totally different. He went into his own thoughts as he watched them talk.

"I know you like her," Gwen said, squeezing his hand. "And I want to help you. Come on, Tim. You know I'm always here to help you. But I'm not going to stand between you two all day while you fight, okay? You know Justin is just teasing you. You should be used to that by now. Now sit down, and we'll figure out this girl."
