She looked at him with a bit of surprise but it was a good surprise. "... you mean.. it wasn't an accident when you kissed me in the commons that night we were studying? you were scared... is that why you started avoiding me?" He'd always wanted and waited for her? And she was his girlfriend. she blushed with the thoughts that she didn't voice. She loved hearing him call her his girlfriend. Something that sounded heavenly to her was the thought of his first girlfriend, that at the age of seventeen he'd waited for it to be her.

Frank looked at the table. "Yes, that's why." He glanced back up. "I felt cowardly afterwords. I didn't know what you were going to do and I thought that if I avoided you for awhile, it would blow over. In all honesty, I couldn't stop thinking about it. It was my first kiss too. The longer I stayed away from you, the more I thought about it. So, I finally gave in and stopped avoiding you. Of course, after that you know what happened after that. I'm sorry I didn't act sooner. I should have."

"If you hadn't ignored me after that, I probably would have been your girlfriend much sooner. And if I remember correctly.. i was the one who found you in the library while you were still avoiding me." She grinned remembering that day perfectly.. their second and third kisses.. and the rain...

"Exactly. That's why I stopped avoiding you, well, part of the reason anyway. I would have approached you anyway, but I'm glad that you moved first. And of course what happened that day was no accident. That was probably one of the best days in my life, but then again everyday that you're in my life is the best day of my life." Frank knew that the last part sounded corny as he said it, but he had to finish it. He gave her a shy smile.
"After that everything was great, except for I started to avoid you again a little. I'm sorry Alice. I really am. I should have lived up to being brave, but honestly, whenever I kissed you it always scared the hell out of me because I didn't know what you were going to do whenever the kiss was over, but now, it's nothing like that anymore. I'm not scared."

"Frank I want you to know something. I have always loved your kisses, loved being near you, loved having you as my best friend, and I always will. I want you to know, that you're the only man I've ever loved or even wanted to date. And I'm glad you're not afraid of me not returning those feelings any more. I am glad you're my boyfriend, and I'm glad you're the only one I've ever had or wanted to have. Don't ever be afraid to kiss me or to love me." She spoke softly, clearly and with a confidence that came from loving him and knowing that he returned that same emotion.

It was strange, hearing the word boyfriend. Although, he was Alice's and she was his. It didn't matter what he was called. He looked to the table shyly. Frank wasn't scared to show that he cared about Alice more than a friend anymore, and he wouldn't ever be.
"That means a lot Alice," he said. "You know, everything that we've been through I think has brought us closer than we would have been in the first place, if I hadn't gotten scared and ran away. And honestly, I like it this way."

"Just don't let it happen again," she laughed warningly. "I don't want to have another day without you in it if I can help it." She was quiet for a moment, looking at him before she spoke again softly, "Frank, what do you think will happen to us after we graduate? I mean.. we both want to become Aurors, we'll both have to fight dark wizards, and be on assignments and... merlin knows what else. Sometimes I wonder if this is all a dream that is going to go crashing down when we get into the real world. And the death of Katie... I don't think I could bear if something happend to you."

"We'll still be together when we graduate Alice," said Frank reaching across the table and taking her hand. "I'm not going to let you go that quickly. Besides, I'm sure that they'll put us on missions together. After all, I work my best when I'm beside you anyway. I'm not going to let you go Alice. I promise you that. We're not going to let what we've worked on so hard for the past couple years just come crashing down. Nothing will happen to me Alice. I promise. I couldn't lose you or leave you behind. I would be lost, and I couldn't do that to you. I'll always be here with you. I'll ever leave your side, promise."

Alice leaned over and kissed his cheek. "I'll make sure to hold you to that promise, Mr Longbottom. Of course, you know that means you can't go galavanting off without me no matter how dangerous it is. You are gonna be stuck with me by your side, or well.. maybe watching your back.. but with you either way." She chuckled then, "I wonder if Ms St. Clare would accept that as a condition of our future employoment.. assuming we are accepted, that we have to stay together." She giggled.

Frank grinned boyishly. "I wouldn't dream of it," he said. "I would rather have you fighting with me and both of us watching each other's backs than someone I don't know and trust. I know I couldn't talk you out of going on a mission, so I'll be right there with you. I'm sure that if we can show Ms. St. Claire that we can work extremely well together, I'm sure that she'll let us work together on missions. I have a feeling that we are going to make it Alice, after all we made it into the Order didn't we?"

"Hmm.. yes good point, but I try not to count my dragons before they hatch." Alice let her foot sneek under the table to nestle between his feet, having a strange desire to just be touching him. "And I know for a fact we work well together. Speaking of together.. have you noticed the way Kingsley has been looking at Marlene lately?" She grinned with a feminine knowing expression.

"Now don't go start playing matchmaker," said Frank teasingly. "But I felt like I interupted something whenever I walked up to the stands during the first task. I could have sworn Kingsley sort of glared at me or something for a second, but I think I was just imagining things." He gave a shrug. "And honestly, I haven't been paying attention."

A mischievous little light appeared in Alice's eyes. "Me? I'm innocent... besides I am sure I saw him watching her last night in the common rooms and I know that look now.. it's the same one you gave me the night we first kissed. Maybe we should leave them both alone for a while and see what happens? ...I think they'd be a cute couple if he can ever get Marlene to warm up to him." She was most definatly playing match maker.. but she just couldn't help herself. She wanted her friends to know what love was too... now that she had Frank, she knew how wonderful it could be.

He laughed. "You're never innocent," he said with a wink. "Besides, I think we can leave them alone for a little bit. I'm sure that they won't mind us just simply disappearing on them for a few minutes. After all, I think Kingsley was going to talk to her about something, so I think it'll be a good thing. We could always find something to do, and no that does not involve eavsdropping on them." Frank looked at Alice with a knowing look. "So don't even think about it."

Alice looked absolutely crestfallen, "not even a little eavesdropping? oh phoey spoil all my fun.." She gave a mock pout. "What else are we going to find to do then?" She grinned just as mischievously.

"Kingsley and Marlene would more than likely figure that we were up to something if they caught us eavesdropping, so no. No eavesdropping. We can just ask them afterwords if anything happened. If they don't say anything about it, then just leave it at that, and observe them discretely later." Frank took a sip of his pumpkin juice after the waitress returned with their drinks.
"Oh, we could always think of something. There's always that secret room, and then the Astronomy tower sounds like a good idea at night, that is if we do it at night. Or we could always go outside even though it's cold."

Alice raised an eyebrow, surely he was teasing her. "The Astronomy Tower? Outside? Secret room? Just what are you planning to.. do.. with me?" She gave him an odd look, her eyebrow lifted in suspicion.

His cheeks turned red as he realized what he said might have sounded like. He didn't mean for it to have sounded provocative or anything. "No, no," said Frank. "Nothing bad, I promise. I was just thinking of places we could go while Marlene and Kingsley are talking. I wasn't planning anything." He should have tried to clarify himself at first. "We could even go study if you wanted to."

Alice wasn't sure if she should feel relief or dissapointment, but instead she just chuckled at him. He was adorable when he blushed. No of course he hadn't meant anything like that, he was too much of a gentleman. She sighed inwardly but she didn't show it. "I've never been to the astronomy tower alone... I mean.. when there wasn't a class that is. I think I'd like that, to just look at the stars and not have to study for once."

Frank smiled. "Neither have I. I just hope some other couple hadn't taken advantage of it before we get there," he said. "We'll definetly have a blanket when we go up there, and of course we could always use the warming spell. That would be alright. It'll be nice to have a night to ourselves with hopefully no interuptions. I know the other night Kingsley had to announce that he was back." Frank gave a laugh. "I'm looking forward to go up there with you though."
