The other day when Regina helped Thane look for his brush, she had left her bag with her journal in it. Luckly one of the girls in the common room had brought it back to her. She couldn't explain how glad she was to have it back. What if he would have read it, or something? That would have been embarrassing!
Regina opened her journal and scribbled down what happened the other night and a few things that she was worried about for the tasks coming up. Once she was finished, she closed her journal and locked it before slipping it back into her bag.
She sighed and opened one of the books that she had set down on the table.

Thane walked into the library with a large stack of books to be returned. Regina had left him a stack to return to the library but of course he'd forgotten until Mrs Macrae tracked him down to return them to the library. Which is why he was currently trying not to trip on anything under his feet that he couldn't see behind the books. He managed to set them on the counter, the library was no where in sight though and he turned and saw Regina sitting by herself studying.
He remembered the diary entries he'd read and his stomach turned with butterflies. She liked him! The thought that had repeated itself in his head for the last day. He hadn't been able to find Regina and had given it to another girl to take to her that night. But this was the first time he'd seen Regina since. He was glad to see she had her bag with her, that it had in fact been returned. He walked over and sat down beside her, "Hey Regina, whatcha studying?"

Regina pushed her hair out of her face as it fell from her having her head tilted downward. She sat up and continued to read. Magical creatures were something that she needed to study more. She was comfortable when it came to charms, transfiguration, and the like, but when it came to Creatures, she wasn't too comfortable with at the moment.
Her studying moment was broken as Thane appeared. Although, she welcomed the break. "Hey," she replied seeing his stack of books. A smile spread across her face. "Magical creatures," she answered quickly. "I see that you are finally returning your books. I don't imagine that you had a hard time finding them this time?"

"Well I forgot about them until the librarian hunted me down for them this morning, but then I found them easy... of course I didn't move them from where you stacked them." he admitted sheepishly. He'd been afraid to move them at all in case he lost one. He didn't want to admit that he'd already lost his brush again.

She laughed. "Well, at least it wasn't hard to find them." Regina laughed. It was obvious that Thane lost his brush. His hair was disheveled as ever. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out her brush and handed it to him. "Here you go." A grin had set itself on her face.
Regina looked at the stack then back at Thane. "We're going to have to put a note on each book you check out our something to let you know when they're due. Oh, and thanks for returning my bag. I couldn't believe I had forgot it."

"Thanks, how did you know?" He took the brush and tried to fix his hair with an impish grin. When he was done he handed it back to Regina so he wouldn't loose hers too.
"You're welcome Regina, at least I'm not the only one that forgets things sometimes." He smiled at her, but didn't say anything about finding the diary.

"I can tell when you've attempted to brush your hair with your fingers," she said with a laugh. Regina took back her brush and dropped it into her bag.
"I didn't realize I left it until a girl knocked on my door and said that you found it and it was mine. I don't get how in the world I left it, but it's alright at least I got it back before I started freaking out about it."

"Freaking out? What's so important in your bag that you'd freak out?" It was his way of claiming innocence for what was in there without having to lie to her about it. He definatly didn't want her knowing that he'd found her journal, or even worse he'd read parts of it. In a way he regretted invading her privacy, but on the other hand he'd been stunned to find his own name in there so often that he'd been happy about it too. He knew he should feel guilty, but in light of what he'd disvered he didn't really. Besides it was a book about her, and he couldn't resist a good book.

"Well, for one thing, my brush was in there, but most importantly this," she said pulling it out of her bag half-way. "I have no idea what I'd do if I lost it." Regina gave a shrug. In her journal she wrote down all her thoughts, things that she wanted to remember, and of course things she wouldn't admit outloud.
She pushed her journal back in her bag. Regina would have been completely embarassed if he had opened her journal. Of course she had written about him in it, and that would have been the embarassing part. She didn't mind if he would have seen the rest of the stuff. No biggie on that, but her more recent entries from the past two months had a bit of information she didn't want him to read.

Thane only gave a wide look that said 'oh' without saying it out loud. He didn't trust his voice to stay steady. He really wasn't good at lying or hiding things and the only way he'd get out of her knowing that he had indeed read those last few months worth of entries.. well the ones with his name in them.. was to just pretend like it had never happend or avoid the subject completely.
"So are you trying to get ready for the tournament then?" He pointed to the magical creatures book she'd shown him that was laying open in front of her still.

Regina glanced back down at her book. "Yeah, I'm attempting to. I feel that I'm alright when it comes to charms, and that kind of thing. I'm a little rusty on the magical creatures, so I figured I'd come and try to learn as much as possible." She gave a little shrug.
Looking back up at him, her hazel eyes met his blue ones. "Have you really studied the magical creatures?"

"No not really, well not in class anyways. But I have read a bunch of books on it anyways, though I usually remember things I read. Maybe I can still help you.. if you want?" Thane read such a varitey of books even on classes he wasn't taking that he could still probably help her, and if it was not something he'd read about yet, he could still learn it with her. He loved learning new things and helping others learn things too. Thane especially loved studying with Regina.

"That would be great," she replied. "I have a feeling that the subject I know the least about will have something to do with one of the tasks. Honestly, I'm more nervous than ever." Regina ran and hand through her hair and motioned for him to take a seat. "Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated." She bit her lip, a sign that she was nervous. Regina had a habit of doing that. "I can't help but think, what if I mess up? Or have no knowledge as to what I'm doing or of what I'm facing?" Her eyes fell to her book and began scanning the page.

"Well you can't expect to know everything, but you should know to use your strengths to compensate for the things you're less knowedgeable about. And you're very intelligent Regina, I have faith that you'll be able to outwit any task if you put your mind to it. We can still study this stuff of course, but just remember that when you are there in the moment to rely most on the things you are strongest with."

She sighed and looked up to him. "I know to rely on what I'm strongest at, but I just, I want to have a good chance at not making a fool of myself for being picked." Regina was nervous as could be and the first task hadn't even started yet. She still had a few days. "I would rather know a little bit in my weaknesses rather than nothing at all. And, magical creatures are my weakness. This will the only book I read on them, because I'm not going to bury myself in every book I can find. I just hope I won't forget what to do."

"Well you know I'll help wherever I can, what chapter are you on now? I mean.. what creature? You're probably best to go over the ones that are less benign than others.. like the more dangerous ones first." He scooted close to her so he could see her book better and felt her leg warm through his clothing, he didn't get the jitters or even feel flustered. He just felt.. comfortable with Regina.

"Fire crabs," she said looking at the picture on the page. "Although, I'm not sure if they'd throw fire crabs at us." Regina shook her head. "Maybe I should just wing it and not worry about this. I have enough to do with work as it is. I'm just adding on." She felt his leg brush hers. Her cheeks turned pink again, but she didn't comment. Stuff like that had happened before, nothing special. She was actually comfortable, and that was what mattered.
Regina looked over to Thane. "I think that I'm just making things harder than they should be."

"I think you're more ready than you realize. Your strength is going to be in outwitting anything that comes your way. Thinking outside the box and using your intelligence. You're one of the brightest witches I know." He knew it was true, and where she lacked in grace walking she made up for in her mind.

She closed the book she was currently reading. "I don't know," she said. "We'll just see when the time comes I suppose. I just hope I don't freeze up. And thanks Thane." Regina pushed the book away from her and sat back in her chair. She wanted to try to get her mind off the tournament for a moment instead of continuing to be nervous.
"Did Gus ever make it back to your room this morning?"

Thane chuckled, "no.. I think he's choosing your bed over mine on purpose just to taunt the fact that he can get in here and I can't." His expresion was teasing her. "And he stays there just to make his point, I think"
