"I know," he said. "It's just hard not to, sometimes. I just hate what happened..." He sighed. "Why is it that everything seemed so much easier when we were kids? The littlest things seemed so important then... I'd give anything to have problems that simple now...

Evangeline gave him another smile. "I know," said Evangeline. "It would be nice to not have to worry about the big things anymore. Plus too, now, we know a lot more than we did then. That's just the way it goes I suppose."

"Yeah, I guess you're right," Wesley said. He noticed that his tea was cold, and gave a slight laugh. "We've been talking for quite a while, haven't we? I really should get going... I like to be there when Natalie goes to bed, so that she doesn't worry too much."

"OK," said Evangeline. "That's understandable." She stood up. "Um, thanks Wes. Here, let me put these cookies in something and you take them with you. There is no way that I could eat all of them myself." She disappeared into the kitchen and grabbed a container then went back into the living room, putting the cookies in it. Evangeline made sure the lid was on and then handed them to Wes. "There you go. Natalie and the others would more than likely eat them faster than I would."

Wesley smiled. "Thank you. I know Natalie will appreciate it. Also, Alastor's fiancee, Athena, has two little boys, and Alastor is adopting a little werewolf girl he found in the woods. Speaking of which, I should probably make sure she registers with you, just to be official. But anyway, we definitely have a full house back there... these will probably be gone in a matter of minutes!" He laughed. "Anyway, thanks again, Evangeline. I'll see you on Friday." He took the cookies and headed for the door.

Evangeline smiled. "Yeah, I suppose you should. I'm there every weekday 8 till 5," she said. "Alright then, I'll see you on Friday." Evangeline walked with him to the door and gave him another smile before he left. "Have a good night."
