Diana slept. She had exhausted all of her reserves, which was dangerous while pregnant. If she wasn't more careful there would be dire consequences. Her dreams were fitful, she searched for Christian and he evaded her again and again.
Her eyes slowly opened and she was in bed. For one blissful moment she didn't remember anything was wrong. She recognized Alyx's room and peacefully thought the past month might have been a dream, a nightmare. But she realized quickly it wasn't the case when she saw what she was wearing.
Derek!
She ran for the door and began to pound on it.

Christian was waiting for Diana to wake up so he could threaten her friend again to extract the information he needed. But Burke's warning about bringing on the wrath of Lord Voldemort was troublesome and accurate. And the man had also mentioned something that greatly concerned Christian - if Diana died then Christian would die too. Normally Christian wouldn't have given a second thought to such nonsense, but the weakened feeling of darkness that overcame him when Diana had slit her wrists was enough to make Christian consider the possibility that not everything Burke said was a lie.
He heard the pounding and knew Diana had finally come to. He headed upstairs as he drew his wand and then opened the door. "Sit the f*ck down," he commanded as he raised his wand on her.

"What did you do to Derek?" she said ignoring the wand that was pointed at her, "I swear to God if you've hurt him Christian..." she said concern and fury bleeding through her words. She had rested, and fully rested Diana was a force to be reckoned with, even if she was starving.

"You're in no position to be making threats. Your boyfriend's safe for now, but unless you tell me what I want to hear I can assure you he won't stay that way."

"What you want to hear or the truth?" she shot back crossing her arms over her chest as she sat down and narrowed her eyes at him.
"Something tells me your trigger finger is a little too itchy and I'm getting f*cked one way or another. And that's fine. " she glared at him as her voice went low, "But leave Derek out of it."

The corner of his mouth twitched upward as his mind went somewhere dirty as she spoke, but he pulled his thoughts back and countered her. "Or what?" he asked, mildly curious as to what she thought she could possibly do to him from her position.

Diana knew Christian's weaknesses, more than Christian even considering she was one of them, but unfortunately his weaknesses were her own. There was no one Christian was close with that Diana could threaten that wouldn't hurt her as well. Her eyes narrowed, "Or it'll be that much worse for you when you do get your memories back and realize what an ass you've been, and I'm only taking responsibility for so much." she warned him.
"For Godric's sake Christian what are you going to do? You can't kill a Burke and just expect that to go away, even with your considerable skills. He's helping me, he's helping us, you just don't remember that. But there are other people who know exactly what you've been up to the past few months. Dr. Hanley, who do you think confirmed the pregnancy?"
She raised a brow and smirked, "Your mother, though she doesn't know about the baby, I did promise her we'd have a larger wedding since she missed the last one."

Christian's brow raised as she mentioned getting his memories back. He was not aware of any means that would permit such a thing to happen, but it was an exciting prospect. Then he could prove once and for all that her stories were fabricated.
And then she mentioned Hanley. Christian turned his wand in his hand as he schooled his features into hiding his shock at her knowledge of his personal physician. But she could have found that out through other means, it didn't confirm her delusions.
"Pity she missed it," Christian replied without skipping a beat. "I think a great many people weren't there. Namely the two of us."

"Roselyn was so disappointed, but I imagine Liam-" she said placing a hand over her stomach, "Our son, named after your Grandfather, would make her quite happy, why don't you call her and give her the news?" she challenged him.
"Or we can wait for Hanley, he's supposed to come by sometime next week to do another check up." she pushed further.
"Or you could call Danny, I'm sure your men have gotten out of the trap I set for them, you could ask them who they have been keeping an eye on for the past few months and from there it's easy to trace it back to my father's company and then me."
She laughed bitterly, "God, I didn't even do a good job of obliviating you. I left so many loose ends."

"Shut the hell up," he ordered as she threw too much information at him. His brain raced to find the logical reasoning the explained away what she was saying. Had she cursed his mother into believing false memories to corroborate her lies. Had she seduced Dr Hanley into thinking her bastard child was Christian's and gained favor with the kind old man. Was there some other connection he could find if his men truly had been monitoring the board members on Diana's family's business.
When reasoning wouldn't come, he lashed out. Even though he knew what she told him was a lie, she clearly believed it herself and therefore he could hurt her with it. "If we're married and vowed to each other, as you claim then you won't be worried when I go f*ck the youngest, hottest piece of ass I can find."

Diana had a jealous expression for only a moment before it smoothed into a confident one. Christian couldn't go f*ck the youngest hottest piece of ass he could find. The only piece of ass he was f*cking for the rest of his life was her because of his unbreakable vow, alternatively her unbreakable vow was what kept her silent when he ordered her to shut up. Still her eyes spoke volumes.

"Since there are no objections," he said arrogantly as he turned to leave. He stopped just before passing the threshold and turned back to look at her. "Maybe I'll f*ck that little actress 'Eve' you hired. She was jumping at the bit last I saw her. Picture that while I'm gone," he said darkly. "She looks a little like you, though she's clearly the superior beauty. But still, maybe that will ease you mind, wife." He threw out her ridiculous title to taunt her further as he left the room.
Had he had his memories he might have seen the parallels between Diana's confinement to the room while Christian went off to seduce a young woman and Christian's imprisonment in the hotel room when Diana went off to meet Burke in a slutty red dress. Christian also might have realized the dangers in telling his vowed wife to picture him sleeping with other women while he was gone.

Diana chucked the expensive vase at him, though it crashed against the door once it was closed. She couldn't vent her frustration verbally so destruction was the only way to go. She tried to leave the room, but that too was impossible.
She could fix what she destroyed, they had set up a charm long ago after one of her tantrums to basically angry-proof everything in the house, but for the moment it calmed her. Until she opened a drawer and records fell out.
They were modern bands, stuff Christian would never listen too. The memory that this was what Christian had intended to be Alyx's room gnawed at her soul as she sat on the bed and waited for him to return, the room in total chaos.
And she was still f*cking hungry.

Diana had to wait several hours before Christian returned. He had spent the time not chasing after Eve or any other pretty little things. Instead he had called Danny and inquired about their surveillance missions over the summer and did his own investigation to discover that most of the marks had been on the board of Crawford Industries, formerly headed by Marcus Crawford.
Next Christian contacted Dr Hanley and, without giving away that he had lost his memories or was dealing with what he was still praying was a psychotic mental patient with a crush, he inquired about his recent visits. Christian hardly had to open his mouth before Hanley was eagerly asking after Diana and the baby and whether or not they had told Christian's mother yet - he didn't want to spoil the surprise for the new grandmother.
Christian didn't even feel the need to contact his mother and simply spent the rest of his time in a bar bemoaning his current situation. How was it even possible that he'd fallen in love, married, and impregnated a woman he hadn't even remembered five months ago? The notion was absurd but all of the facts pointed to the same outcome.
When he finally came home it was dark and he only realized his prisoners would be hungry as he instinctively headed to the kitchen to make himself something to eat. He still wasn't sure what to do with Burke and the fact that he now might have been a friend all along was nagging at him as he opened the door to the storage closet and threw a sandwich and bottle of water at him before locking the door without a word.
He opened the door to the spare room, about to throw food angrily to her as well when he was confronted with a mess the likes he had never seen in his own home before. "What the f*ck did you do?"

Diana was asleep by the time he came back, she had forgotten the mess she made, and as she always did when she heard his voice she smiled.
But it quickly faded when she heard the accusatory tone and opened her eyes to the mess. She wasn't the least bit repentant as she put her chin in the air and didn't say a word to him.
Though she eyed the sandwich fiercely.

Her arrogance angered him further and although he was now quite certain everything she had told him was the truth, including his vow of faithfulness to her, he couldn't help but that arrogance with what was currently his best weapon against her.
"Is this your pathetic f*cking way of trying to deal with me f*cking that pretty young thing while you're locked up in here? I thought you were secure in our love to not be bothered by me putting it to another woman. Tell me, Diana, did you expect me to come back here defeated?"

Diana's confusion showed on her face. She shook her head no, and frowned.
He couldn't have slept with Eve. His vow would have prevented it from happening. And as she clearly couldn't speak because he had ordered her to be silent, she knew the vow was still in place. But maybe that part of the vow was broken somehow when she took his memories and only the life bond existed.
That didn't make any sense, wasn't he frustrated with her for 'cursing' him? But what if he had found a way around it?
Jealousy flared in her eyes and she picked up an item off of the floor to throw at him.

He dodged her exceptionally well aimed attack and began laughing. "Oh, you didn't think I'd be able to find a way around your little curse. Unlucky for you I found a nice little trick that did wonders. You can even ask the ladies who eagerly helped me try it out. I guess I should have gotten their names...no matter."
Diana was silent and while he hadn't known her long, she didn't seem the silent treatment type. "Speak up, doll. I'm sure you've got loads to say on the matter."

She was still too angry to speak though her jealousy had receded somewhat. She picked up another piece of something or other on the floor and threw it at him.
"You bastard!" she hissed, " How dare you lock me up in here! I demand to know what you did to Derek! Did you Kill him?"
Each sentence was punctuated with an attack of some sort.
"You think I care whether or not you whore yourself out like some two-bit slag? Or whether or not you engage their services to cater to your prick like some old man past his prime needing to brag about the women he's slept with and how young they are?" she laughed at him.
"My God you're pathetic. So if you're cured you can let me and Derek go, or in case you failed to remember while trying to reclaim your sexual prowess, this actually is a life and death situation I'm in. And you might not care about me, but we are bonded and I doubt your little loophole will apply should I die."
She stood there hands on her hips yelling at him, she was flushed and breathing heavy from emotion and exertion. In short she was a fiery vixen of passion and danger.

Something about Diana's passionate stance was exciting to Christian though he kept his arrogant, detached appearance. He even laughed as she hurled colorfully descriptive insults at him. If he hadn't been lying about his earlier exploits he might have taken offense, but he found them humorous as she spit them at him with bile.
"As you've pointed out, our lives are bound somehow. Your f*cking stunt on the boat proved that much. So, no. You won't be going anywhere. Burke, on the other hand, is a liability and I'm certainly not going to f*cking release him just so he can come after me again. Don't worry, I'll make it quick," he said as he threw the sandwich at her and turned toward the door.
