"No! Christian!" she cried out scrambling to get to him, ignoring the much coveted sandwich that fell to the floor.
She didn't know what to do so she attacked, jumping on his back and bringing her hands together cuffing him on his temple. "You're not going near him!" she yelled. She would fight if she had to, but she wasn't letting Christian kill her friend. Christian's friend too, though he couldn't remember it.

Christian turned and grabbed her, pulling her off his back and throwing her into the bed. He pinned her down by the chest and hovered over her, threateningly. "If you care about your unborn child you'd be wise not to try that again!"
He released her with a bit of force and again turned to leave.

"Your unborn child!" she yelled, "He's yours too!"
Diana was so tired. She hadn't eaten earlier, or much the day before, it had now been nearly a day since she last had sustenance and she had been through so much in the past 24 hours.
Damn her hormones she wanted to cry. It was her fault Christian didn't remember anything, but she never imagined these sort of consequences.
"You don't remember it, but it's your child too. So is Alyx. She's our sixteen year old daughter, and we've been fighting to finally get her back. This is her room." Diana said on a mild sniffle, "We were fighting and I was sleeping in here instead of sleeping with you and you yelled at me for sleeping in her room. You even bought music you hoped she might like." she said gesturing to the albums on the bed.
"Derek has been fighting with us. He's the closest thing you have to a best friend. You can't kill him."

Every time she added something to her...to their story it sounded more and more like fiction. The idea that they had a 16 year old daughter was preposterous. She would have had to get pregnant... A quick calculation of the years gave Christian a chill. But there was certainly no way Diana's baby was his. Diana had to have been about four to five months pregnant which would have put conception at...
Math was not Christian's friend tonight.
Christian turned to face Diana, addressing only her comments about Derek and ignoring the life altering idea that he may in fact have a child somewhere. One chaotic moment at a time. "You think I'm going to just let him go? How bloody stupid are you?"

"You don't want me to answer that question." she retorted hotly with a look in her eye that told him just how stupid she thought he was being.
She cursed inwardly, if only she hadn't obliviated him none of this would be happening.
The answer then was staring her in the face, "Obliviate him." she said as soon as the idea came to her.
She sat up on the bed and turned to face Christian, "Just today!" she added quickly, "I'm supposed to be going underground today and we'd be radio silent anyway. He won't know I'm not where I'm supposed to be, and you can let him go without worrying that he's going to try and contact me." she said excitedly that she had found a solution.
"No Christian, just listen! If he thinks I'm gone, then he'll simply focus on taking out the last board member, and he's already asked you to help with that. You just have to pretend you don't know any better. We both want this board member dead because so long as he's coming after me, he's coming after you too. You don't have to kill him!"

Her idea was more than plausible and it solved the problem of facing the Dark Lord for infighting. But Christian was loathe to allow her the satisfaction of having a brilliant idea, at least for now.
"Clean up this f*cking room," he ordered and left before she could say anything else to him.
Derek was still locked in the storage cupboard, which was Christian's next stop. Now that he knew how to get out of this mess, at least partially, he wouldn't waste anymore time. "It's your lucky day, Burke. Guess who doesn't have to die."

Diana threw something else at the door as he left showing how much she cared for his order to clean the room up. Defiantly she looked for something else to destroy.

Derek on the other hand was cool and collected thoroughly enjoying his sandwich.
"Good, cause this was a sh*tty last meal." he said unscrewing the water bottle and taking a drink. "Death should at least earn a bloke a decent drink."
He sighed getting to his feet, "So what's the plan then?"

Christian didn't like the familiarity in Burke's tone but it matched Diana's statement that the two men were something of good friends. Still, he wasn't looking for any friends at the moment (or wives or children) and he was certain he'd be glad to be rid of the man.
"You can abuse your own bar," Christian commented. "Right after we take care of a few things. Diana tells me she was responsible for obliviating me. Apparently I agreed to kill her and she wasn't overly fond of the idea."

When she had destroyed everything in sight, she uttered a spell to reverse all the damage, still grumbling along the way. Though she manged to find the discarded sandwich and began to eat.

Derek laughed sharply, "That's putting it mildly. She wanted to kill you but you're bonded." he said having the same thought as Diana. There was no need to explain any loopholes to Christian about a way out.

"Apparently," his voice was flat though his mind was sent back to the sensation of dying he had felt when Diana slit her wrists. She obviously knew Christian would save her and it aggravated him that she had any pull over his actions.
"She also told me I was working with you both, on the same set of marks your little Eve was supposed to have hired me for. How does she fit into the picture?"

Derek laughed. For a man who had supposedly just escaped a hangman's noose he was rather blase.
"Well...when you and Diana came back hitched...I took you out for a proper send off. Eve was the stripper I paid five hundred pounds to dance for you for over an hour while you decided to get wasted and belligerent." Derek said crossing his arms over his chest.

"So we were friends?" Christian asked with a hint of disbelief in his voice. He couldn't imagine any such scenario that would bring him together with Burke for anything more than a professional relationship.

"Eh...sometimes." he said with a matching expression as he made a 50/50 gesture with his hand.
"Depends on whether or not you feel like it, and whether or not you think I'm trying to f*ck your wife." he said with a smart ass grin.

That comment caught Christian's attention and he raised his eyebrows in interest. "Were you f*cking my... her?" If Burke was sleeping with Diana then it meant there was a chance this new baby was not Christian's and that would certainly be a relief.

Derek gave Christian a look, "Look mate, I know I'm standing here seemingly pleased as punch, which may give you the fool's notion that I don't cling to life like any other man, but let me assure you I enjoy living, breathing, and walking on my own legs, and sleeping with another man's wife, particularly when that man is you, isn't the best way to go about living that life, breathing with these lungs, or walking on my own legs."

Christian knew from enough interrogations that the more a person talked, the more they were hiding something. It didn't mean Burke was f*cking Diana, but maybe they had been before Christian joined the picture. Or the far less helpful alternative was that Burke wanted to f*ck Diana and simply hadn't.
He gave a questioning look. "Why would I think my friend was f*cking my girl if he wasn't?"

"Have you seen your girl?" Derek asked in turn. He gave Christian a knowing look, "I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about it." he chuckled as a memory came to him, "And watching her fight is a thing of beauty." He sighed, "But I knew I was out of the picture the first time you threw your 'history' in my face." he shrugged, "I didn't cry over it."
He narrowed his eyes at Christian, "What is this interrogation going Christian? What do you really want to know?"

He smiled, thinking it had taken Burke much longer than expected to act on any suspicions he might have had regarding Christian's questioning. It aligned with his view that the man wasn't the most skilled or professional in the industry and he couldn't see himself working with Burke outside of any situation not required by the Dark Lord. Even then, he'd politely request to work alone over working with Burke, should the situation deem it appropriate.
"I'm just trying to figure out how in three months I supposedly went from carefree bachelor to married father of two." Christian looked at him for a moment, evaluating his expression.

Christian's words reminded Derek of what the man had said on the boat and his expression as well as his stance hardened. Derek had his own skills, he was useful in a fight and Christian had witnessed that first hand, but all too often he appeared carefree and easygoing. Neither image was suitable for the bitter reminder that Diana had miscarried a baby Derek didn't even know she was pregnant with in the first place.
"Father of one." he corrected somberly, "I can restore your memories Christian..." he looked upward to where he imagined Diana to be, "But I'm not sure I shouldn't try and take hers away instead. I can't imagine what she's going through right now." he gave Christian another hard look that said he was an absolute bastard to be quibbling over this nonsense when a woman had lost her child, regardless of how he felt about that woman.

It would have been heartless of Christian to chat with Burke in such a relaxed manner had he actually killed Diana's child, even if his chat did have an ulterior motive. But Christian wasn't thinking of that at the moment.
"There's no counter-curse to a Memory Charm," he argued speculatively.
