When an overwhelming feeling of weepiness came over her she stood abruptly taking a deep breath, "Oh you know travel, say I love you more, write a book." she said offhandedly.

Christian gave her a disappointed look. "If memory serves, your family wasn't hurting for money. I'm sure you can still travel and write your best seller. And there's nothing stopping you from telling your husband you love him more. Unless, it isn't your husband who you're wanting to say that to."

She returned his disappointed look with a soft one.
"Maybe I will travel, and maybe I could write the book, but it's a little too late to tell my husband I loved him." she gave a small shrug.
"He wouldn't believe me now. I can't blame him, I didn't believe he loved me either."

Christian was an asshat, but he did feel a twinge of remorse for his repeated badgering about her husband now that she was speaking of him in the past tense. The feeling didn't last long as he reminded himself that she'd cursed him.
"It sounds to me like you could use a drink," Christian said as he stood and headed toward the small stairwell that led to the stateroom, returning a moment later with a bottle of cabernet nd two glasses. He gave his most charming smile.

He left before she could stop him, and at the same moment a mirror in her handbag began to glow. She bit her lip and cursed. Seeing Christian occupied she allowed herself to answer it.
"Where the devil are you?!" Burke's angry voice filtered through.
She only gave him a look in return.
"You've got to be bloody kidding me. You were supposed to distract him long enough for us to secure your passage out of the country, not run off with him!"
"I'm saying goodbye Derek." she answered softly, "I might never see him again."
"Don't say that-"
"You said it yourself, the safest thing is to disappear. And that's what I'm going to do...I just need to say goodbye... He's coming back I have to go."
She closed the compact and tossed it back in her bag before Christian came into view.
Derek had been the one to suggest leaving the country, disappearing until the final board member was gone. He was surprised when she accepted. He didn't know she was pregnant. Right now she had to do what was best for her child. Derek was working on a way of separating them from the life bond and he had Christian working the case, but he assured her that without Diana to distract Christian the man would fare better.
There was nothing left for Diana to do but say goodbye to the man she loved.

Christian shouldn't have left her alone, even on a boat in the middle of the sea it wasn't smart to leave Diana Crawford without supervision. Who knew what she had been up to in the few moments Christian had disappeared into the cabin below. It was a foolish move and he wouldn't allow it to happen again.
"Miss me?" he said in a seductively teasing manner. Christian uncorked the wine and poured a glass before offering it to Diana.

While one glass of wine wouldn't harm the baby, she was more than protective over the life inside of her. She shook her head no politely.
"Thank you, I don't drink." she lied easily enough.

He had suspected as much from all the tea she'd consumed while he imbibed in his usual beverage of choice. Still, he was hoping for a more intriguing explanation.
"That's a shame," said as he turned and put the bottle and glasses down on the ledge. "Because this sad look is screaming for something." He ran his hand through her hair before resting his palm against the side of her face.

She wanted a drink. Badly. Bourbon, about the entire bottle of it.
She closed her eyes as he touched her cheek. She resigned herself to it then. She couldn't say goodbye to this man, she had tried so many times and failed. She would just have to let time run out.
Once her mind was made up she was frantic in pulling him against her for an earth shattering kiss. She couldn't tell him goodbye, but they had never had trouble communicating physically, and physically she could show him all the things she felt inside.

If only Christian knew he was supposed to love her. If only he could feel anything more than victorious as she pulled him to her and proceeded to show him an evening he would not soon forget. Diana was madly in love with him and Christian was simply mad.
His passions turned more than sexual as he looked on her thoroughly exhausted, naked body and grinned at her. It wasn't the charming grin he'd provided her so frequently today. It was something closer to a malicious grin as he reached for his wand and bound her so quickly that she hardly had the opportunity to notice his shift in moods. When he was certain she was secured to the bed, Christian pulled on his pants which had been lying on the floor of the stateroom.
"It was a clever little curse, I'll give you that much. But did you honestly think I wouldn't catch on, or are you that delusional?"

Diana had surrendered alright. She surrendered and laid bare and vulnerable to the man she loved. In some ways her passion had been an apology for what she had taken from him, for what she had taken from them.
But she was pregnant and perpetually tired, her energy had been sapped after the first few rounds. What she lacked in energy she made up for in intensity as she said goodbye to him.
When it was over she dared to close her eyes knowing that in a few minutes she would grab her clothing and he would take her to shore. She would leave him and disappear. Part of her didn't want to open her eyes, she wanted to bask in the moment of being with him again, but her eyes shot open when she felt the coarse ropes binding her wrists and ankles preventing her from moving.
Dread began to seep through her as she realized she had been caught, not only caught, but that she had been a fool to be vulnerable in front of Christian. This Christian. The one who didn't know her as anything other than a fantastic shag.
There was too much at stake, she couldn't be trapped. She focused on that at first before his words sunk in. "What? I don't understand..." her expression changed from one of deep confusion to almost hope, "Does that mean...do you remember...?" she asked afraid to believe it could be possible.

"Do you honestly think you were anything worth remembering? Perhaps if you'd done half the tricks you've demonstrated now I might have thought more fondly of you over the years, but you were a lanky girl with no experience. What is it you'd have liked me to remember?"
He held his wand on her. "You're going to lift this curse and if you have any ideas of weaseling out of it I'll make sure you suffer for it."

Diana's eyes hardened, although she was still confused, the only curse she had inflicted upon him was obliating him.
"Just what is it you're accusing me of Ward?" she asked her voice hard to match her eyes.

"Wrong answer," he said menacingly threw a red bolt of light at her. Christian was more than comfortable with using the Unforgivable Curses in his line of work. But he didn't want Diana dead. Not yet. The Cruciatus Curse, however, had always proven useful in interrogation situations and he was in no mood to play her game of innocence.
As soon as the curse hit her something churned in Christian's stomach and he released the curse almost immediately, though not before sending waves of intolerable pain through Diana's body.
"Oh, that's very clever. In addition to forcing your image upon me and effectively c*ck blocking me, you've also made it so I can't hurt you." He leaned in closer to Diana, a sneer clearly plastered on his face as his eyes narrowed. "Lucky for me I know how to make you suffer without the Cruciatus."

She didn't have enough time to process what he was so angry about before pain shot through her entire body. But it wasn't the pain that caused panic to spread through her. It was fear.
He revealed then his accusation, that she had prevented him from being with other women some how. She realized a moment later that he was talking about their vows. But any satisfaction she might have had at his forced faithfulness was pushed to the side as his intentions to make her suffer became clear.
She took a moment to collect herself after being cursed, he had cursed her like that before.
"Aww, is little Christian having performance issues and needs someone else to blame?" she asked mocking him.

His sneer grew as she mocked him. "I wouldn't test my patience, woman. You're the one tied down and we know I've got no problem right now." His words were threatening something unspeakable, though truthfully the idea made him sick.
"Give me the counter-curse," he demanded.

Diana sneered at him, "You're not that kind of man Christian." she said confidently, " But you're despicable for even saying it."
What Christian also didn't understand was that his simple command proved Diana had nothing to do with his problem.
"I don't have a counter curse Christian, the only way to stop whatever's happening to you is to kill me." she said then turned wide eyed after she said it.

"Two birds, my dear. I'll gladly turn over your head for the hefty reward and then f*ck the whole of England!" Christian's features were twisted in a sick satisfaction as he took a step backwards and again took aim at her.
"Avada Ke-" He felt his heart twist in his chest and it knocked the wind out of him. He doubled over, gasping for air as the pressure around his heart tightened. "You - f*cking - b*tch," he said through painful, strangled gasps. Surely this sensation was a part of the curse Diana had put upon him.

Diana's eyes grew wide as the hands of death reached for her and fell one half word short of taking hold.
She was shocked, stunned really. It was all too much for her to process that not only had he once again taken the job to kill her, but that he had no qualms about finishing the job. Were it not for their vows she would be dead. Fearing that he may try again she said the only thing she could think of to stop him.
"Christian no! I'm pregnant!" she cried.
But just as she revealed her physical state her stomach cramped in a terrifyingly familiar way. Her adrenaline and shock had kept her strong, she was also no stranger to the cruciatus curse, but her child was.
A vision of a black carriage bearing down on her as she took a turn flashed in front of her. Suddenly Diana began to fight like a wild animal against the ropes that held her which only made them tighten around her. She was sobbing, her eyes mad with fear and panic.
"Christian get me out of these ropes! Now! Oh God No!" she screamed again like a truly wild creature.

She thrashed about on the bed as the pain in Christian's chest began to recede. He pulled himself together and took aim once more but her panic seemed too sincere. If she was pregnant, even a bastard like Christian couldn't take her out. You'd have to be a real sick son of a b*tch to murder an innocent babe.
She didn't appear pregnant at all, but if she had been his girl he'd have made her hide her belly so long as there was even the possibility that she were in danger. He pointed his wand at her stomach. "Revelio."
