Diana's brow furrowed in momentary confusion. She had expected him to 'whisk' her away to somewhere private and get the upper hand. She had intended to lead him to the hotel room which was already prepared for their arrival. But his wanting to take her for a 'proper' date threw her.
She was quick to recover, "Starved." she said, and surprisingly it was true.

"How do you feel about French food?" Christian could make even a lunch date romantic and he was sure he already had the upper hand, indulging in good food while he toyed with her was hardly work.

"That sounds lovely." she said keeping her tone light. He didn't know that she was aware of his following her, or that fate as he liked to joke, was tied up in Diana's hotel room at the moment.
She needed to figure out his endgame, and to that end she would be the perfect date in return.

He planned for their "date" to go much further than just a meal but to get to that point he needed to ensure Diana was alive, and that meant that no other hit wizards were currently on her tail. If he had known that Diana knew he had men tailing her, he wouldn't have attempted to look around so discretely. But as it were, he believed he hand the upper hand and so as he placed his hand on the small of her back he subtly looked over his shoulder and scanned for prying eyes. When he was certain they would not be followed, Christian apparated them to a small French bistro.
Christian knew this restaurant well, it was one of the places he regularly took women he was planning to seduce. It was intimate with a generally romantic air without trying too hard. Had Christian retained his memories, he would have known that he attempted to bring Diana here once before, when he first took the contract on her head and wanted to woo information out of her to sooth his own curiosity. He would have also known that he had never once considered bringing Diana here once they had established their real relationship, as it would have cheapened the deranged version of intimacy they had established.
Christian requested a table near the back of the room, knowing the distances to each of the exits and having a clear view of the entire restaurant to ensure no other bounty hunters ruined his plans. As they were escorted to their table, Christian continued to scan the room looking for overly interested patrons but he was once again certain that Diana had not been noticed.
After they sat and ordered their drinks Christian leaned forward and spoke in hushed tone, once again attempting to curb the curiosity this woman created in his mind. "As you did inadvertently put my life in danger at our last meeting, I feel more than justified in asking why you have someone trying to kill you."

He was far too suave about their date. She wondered silently to herself why he hadn't taken her to this restaurant when they were actually together instead of whatever they were now.
"Must be my charming personality." she said feigning a smile. She leaned in close to him, "I'll tell you why I have someone trying to kill me, as soon as you tell me why you're having me followed." she raised a challenging brow in his direction and then leaned back in her seat with her arms crossed.
She had no patience, none what soever where he was concerned. She hated the idea that he was playing her and wanted to cut to the chase.

Christian hesitated for only a second as he realized Diana was much more skilled at espionage than he had expected, but if she was truly suspicious of him she wouldn't have moved to a second location with him. So he improvised.
"Call me old fashioned but when the woman you seem to be sleeping with is being hunted, you tend to want to ensure her safety."

She was truly suspicious of him, but she was also deeply in love with him as well, which made her ten times the fool.
"I'd have thought you realized that I could take care of myself." she said challenging his statement, "And I warned you not to follow me. It's a shame for your men that you didn't listen."

"At first glance, perhaps. But then it seemed rather foolish of you to be alone at that restaurant or taking in the breeze at the park today all by your lonesome. I figured if you weren't going to be responsible for your own welfare I could spare the men to do so for you." Christian took a drink of his scotch.
"And I would like to point out that I didn't follow you. I employed a small team to do that for me. And since apparently they can't do their damned job well enough something will have to be done with them. Unless you've taken care of that tedious task for me?"

"They're safe. For now. Whether they remain so depends on your actions." and as callous as Christian could be, Diana knew he cared about his men, even if they were sloppy enough to be caught.
"Though they may have a few bumps and bruises..."she tsked him, "If I had known you were that interested I might not have played so hard to get." she cooed.
It was clear she was still keeping him at a distance, even somewhat mocking his supposed declaration of interest in her safety, but if she really suspected him of foul play she would have been gone already.

He flashed a charming smile at her. "I'm surprised I had to send a team to look after you at all. I would have thought your husband would attempt to keep you safe. Or is he the one coming after you?"

"Christian..." she purred leaning across the table and placing her hand on his knee. Her look was soft, her lips parted as if she would tell him everything, as though she were dying to confess.
"Stop fishing for information." she said with a sickly sweet smile. She pulled her hand back as the waiter asked them for their order. She looked at Christian, "What do you recommend?"

Christian traditional move would have been to order for his lady friend, as many women found it romantic for some strange reason. But having been reacquainted with Diana for a few days he was fairly sure that such a move would have been met with defiance. The thought was enticing in a strange way, but he wasn't going to do anything purposefully to interfere with his plans.
He offered a few suggestions that were highly praised and waited until she made her request before making his. "Would you like some wine? They have a great selection here." Christian had noticed over their past encounters that Diana hadn't been drinking. As someone who had been called a functioning alcoholic more than once in his life, Christian thought it was strange.

"Water is fine, and I'll try the Bœuf bourguignon, please." she said handing the waiter the menu.
Her mind wandered back to their meal together while celebrating their son's existence. She had been so mind-shatteringly in love with the man she now sat apart from. And while they were not the most public of couples it was clear that they only had eyes for each other. The thought weighed heavily on her. When they were together Diana felt nearly invincible. With Christian at her side there were no weaknesses, except each other, but if they loved each other and trusted each other, then any outside force didn't stand a chance.
The last thing in the world she wanted was for Christian to be a foe, no that wasn't true, the last thing she wanted was for him to be a stranger.
She thought of this while lightly fingering the ring on her finger.

Christian waited until they were alone again before resuming their conversation. Was it considered a conversation if both sides were playing a game; keeping secrets and attempting to learn them.
"I lived up to my end of the deal in telling you why my men were after you, I believe now you owe me an explanation to the man trying to kill you." His eyes shifted to her wedding ring which she fingered as if lost in thought. "If it's not your husband wanting you dead, then who?"

"Who said a man was trying to kill me?" she asked. Truthfully she didn't know who was trying to kill her, but it was nice to have only one person left to kill as opposed to where she was two and a half years ago. She had changed so much since then.
She shrugged, "I don't know who ordered the hit."

"Sorry, I suppose there are plenty of women who'd be jealous enough of you to pay a hit wizard to take you out." Christian's tone clearly conveyed his skepticism in the idea that a woman was the mastermind behind the bounty.

"There are plenty of reasons to kill someone. I find it amusing you assume it to be jealousy." she raised an eyebrow at him, "Projecting are we?"

"Oh I am certain there are plenty of blokes jealous enough of me to do more than simply wish me dead," he replied with a smirk.
"But I suppose my real question is what naughty thing did you do to get a hit put out on you? Please, if there are multiple possibilities I'd like to hear them all. And as you've incapacitated my team I guess that leaves me to watch you, so I might as well hear some of your tales."

"I'm sure you would." she said her eyes dazzling. She sat up straighter, "Money, Love, Jealousy, Revenge...there are many reasons to wish someone else dead, and I can assure you I'm guilty of most of them. Does it matter?"
He had been curious about her before, citing that she was sinfully dangerous. She intrigued him. She had taken his memories but he was still the same man.

He enjoyed the attitude she gave off as she simultaneously answered and avoided his question. She was fiery and intriguing, and had it not been for the curse she placed on him or the noose he was tightening around her neck, he could have seen them sharing another week together similar to the one they'd shared when they were younger. Only they both had more experience now, the results would have brought the house down.
"Does it bother you that I'm interested?" he came back at her.
