"You're a fool." she said suddenly looking at him, turning to anger to run away from her pain. She stepped toward him, "You're a coward and a fool."
She scoffed and looked upward shaking her head, "I love you. You love me. Why isn't that enough? Why is it wrong? What's so wrong about our love that you would deny our happiness?"

She was too young. They were too different. And she had taken his trust and shattered it into a million pieces.
Christine was obviously more mature than other girls her age. Even Dorian couldn't stop himself to save the woman he loved, and yet Christine sacrificed the one thing she had asked him for in order to save Dorian from himself. Maturity couldn't have anything to do with his decision now, but it had been one of the platforms on which he stood for so long that he clung to it. Everything within him screamed that this was wrong and if he couldn't explain why, then he would just ignore the flaw in his logic.
It wasn't logic that ruled his decisions, it was an antiquated sense of nobility. But how was he to explain that to Christine? It would have been a trying task were he sober, but in his current liquored and guilt-ridden state he was no match for Christine's sharp tongue.
"It's not that simple. If it were just about love-" Dorian stopped himself. He couldn't admit that he loved her, that was wrong too. This was so wrong.
"I'm sorry," he said again, but this time he quickly turned and walked several paces from her, then disapparated. Coward.

Which is exactly what she called him when he left. She screamed it in the wind as her heart tore itself into a million pieces once again. But as she had told herself before, she was done crying. She was done with sadness and fear. She channeled her pain into anger, and then she channeled it into something else.
Revenge.
