Normally if a friend had left her alone on the dance floor, Lyra would leave too and wait by the bar. She wasn't anxious about being alone, per se but she found it less awkward if she used the time to get another drink. Today, however, her enchanted necklace gave her the confidence to not care about being alone in a crowded room. She danced to the music, not needing a friend by her side or a man around her, and really fell into the rhythm. It was thrilling to be so free, especially after feeling so lost.
She was still dancing, carefree and smiling, when Sam returned. She had to speak loudly to be heard over the music. "Christine? Excellent. She'll be fun."

Samantha gave a half smile, "Hope so. She hasn't been herself for a while." Sam said putting it mildly.
First there was the 'disappearance' where she was staying at the hotel, then the kidnapping, now she seemed to be having romantic issues. Sam felt for her cousin, but there wasn't much she could do.

"That's to be expected," Lyra said, slowing her movements down a little to match the more somber tone of the conversation.
"She just needs to have a little fun. We all just need to have some fun." The song changed again. "Oh, I love this one!" Lyra spun around, her hands over her head as she moved to the music.

If nothing else Sam appreciated Lyra's optimism even if she had her own doubts as to what Christine needed.
Samantha had a strange idea of fun, and she was quite certain her idea didn't match Lyra's or Christine's, but she eagerly agreed to try.
"I hope you're right."

They danced a while longer. Lyra was enjoying herself much more than usual, despite the creeps that tried to dance with them. She wasn't in the mood to deal with men, least of all drunken idiots who think grabbing a stranger from behind and sweating on them was a good way of introduction. She shoved the man off her and moved toward Sam, speaking into her friend's ear to avoid having to shout over the noise of the nightclub. "I need another drink."
Lyra pushed her way through the crowd and managed to slide her way up to the bar. She leaned over the bar top, allowing her shirt to hang loosely in order to get the bartender's attention.

Christine had beaten Lyra to the bar. She saw Lyra and Sam dancing and having fun, she didn't want to be the buzzkill so she watched and waited for them to return either to the bar or the table where they sat.
She ordered her usual bourbon, though she couldn't drink it now without thinking of Alek or their darts game.
She noticed Lyra and laughed, "Any lower and you're going to fall out."

Lyra turned toward the familiar voice and smiled broadly at Christine. "If it would get me a drink faster, it might be worth it. How are you?" Lyra was practically a different person from the girl Christine had met at the ball. She wasn't moping about, complaining about boys. She was much livelier tonight.
The bartender came up and Lyra quickly ordered another martini, then turned her attention back to Christine.

Christine held the bottle of bourbon up for an answer, "I think in a few more glasses I might be inclined to dance." she said with a half smile.
She wasn't much for dancing these days, not after what had happened with Alek. She had been avoiding him and Lex by association. But one good thing had spawned from that day and that was Bella.
She had been practicing magic every day since meeting the girl and even began to comb through the extensive Montgomery library to see what spells of use could be found. Which was how she spent most of her days.
When Sam invited her out she obliged simply to get away from the concerned looks of her family.

The bartender brought over her drink and she smiled at him. "Well drink up. We can't leave Sam alone out there for too long. The men are very handsy tonight and I don't feel like going down to the MLE to bail your cousin out after she tries to curse them." Lyra laughed and took a sip of her drink.

"Like they would dare to throw a Montgomery in jail." Samantha said with a haughty expression as she joined the two girls.
"You'd bat your eyes, claim self-defense, and probably get free drinks for life." Christine said knowingly.
"Salvatore does love me." Samantha said preening as she mentioned the bouncer's name. They also knew the owner of the club so Lyra's concerns were unfounded.

Lyra didn't actually have any concerns, knowing Sam was more than capable of getting herself out of any trouble she might get into. If she got into trouble in the first place.
"Well now you've gone and ruined my excuse to get Christine on the dance floor," she said with a smile as Samantha approached.

"I think she's better off." Sam replied looking at the mass of sweaty club dancers. Tonight was worse than usual or better than usual depending on who you were and what you wanted, but Samantha found it cloying.
Christine felt much the same way, though she didn't mind the bourbon.
"I think we're buzzkills." Christine said to her cousin noticing Lyra's pep was higher than either hers or Samantha's.

Lyra shook her head at Christine's comment. Buzzkills wouldn't have come out in the first place or insisted they leave now. And Lyra wasn't going to let that happen. She needed an escape from her thoughts.
"Well there's no law that says we have to stay here. There are more bars up the street, or if you want to keep it classy there's a nice lounge just a few blocks over."

Christine did want to have fun. She simply needed to get out of her head to do so, but the bourbon wasn't working.
"Maybe a change of venue is in order." she agreed. There was something off putting about Enchanted that evening even if Christine couldn't put her finger on it. "I don't know about a lounge, but a pub crawl could prove entertaining."
Samantha was more hesitant. Christine shouldn't have been out without protection, the same could be said for any of them, but particularly her cousin who had a serial killer obsessed with her. Enchanted was safe enough, they knew the owner, the bartender, the bouncer and most of the regulars, but that wasn't the story at every bar.

Lyra laughed at how different Christine and Samantha were. Sam never would have suggested a pub crawl; there would have been too many places to be able to ensure private tables and waited service.
"I'm in," Lyra answered happily. She looked to Sam who appeared more apprehensive. "You're in too. It's good to shake things up every now and then," she told her friend confidently. Lyra finished her drink and set the glass on the bar.

Sam didn't want to mention the dangers of shaking things up in front of her cousin or Lyra. Out of the three of them she had the most painful experiences with torture and didn't fancy being subjected to it further. Still if it would make the girls happy, then she could go along. She would just tell Nik first.
"Alright, alright."

Lyra bounced on the balls of her feet happily and waited for everyone to finish their drinks, then led the girls past the bouncer and into the night air. "Where to first?" she asked Christine, who she suspected had more experience with pub crawls than Sam. It didn't really matter where they were going, so long as there was alcohol wherever they ended up.

Christine had some experience with pub crawls. Alcohol was legal at younger ages in various places in the world and she had traveled to many of those places.
Christine inhaled sharply at the crisp cool night air, it felt good and seemed to revitalize her.
"Hold on." Christine smirked before conjuring a birthday ribbon and a tiara for Lyra. They were three beautiful girls, getting free drinks was a breeze, birthday and bachelorette ribbons made most bars go even further.
"We can switch off at different bars."

Lyra grinned at Christine's cleverness. "I thought I felt older," she said as she straightened the tiara and fluffed her hair.
Their first stop was a dive bar just down the street from the nightclub. Everything, including the patrons, seemed to have a layer of grime on it, but the drinks were strong and they had free reign of the jukebox.

Free reign over the music summoned Christine as she djed for them and they proceeded to dance, drink, and hustle some of the patrons. Christine hustled through darts and pool, while Sam cleaned out a group of men playing poker in the corner.
They joined Lyra when they were finished.
Christine grinned, "I could do this all night."
