"She's just as bad as you are with coming up with nicknames," he said looking to Sean. "Boo-Boo? Seriously? That's the best you have sweetheart?" Daniel raised an eyebrow looking amused.
"I mean, you could ask nicely and I might share so that way you can keep your strength in attempt to beat me during our fight, or you can attempt to wrestle me for food right now, which I won't complain about." He looked at her with a half grin half smirk.

"Oh, like it took you a lot of imagination and creativity to come up with 'sweetheart,'" Victoria replied, rolling her eyes. "Who do you think you are, anyway? Bogart? Hm... actually, that's not a bad nickname. Humphrey."
She grinned again at Sean, then moved a little closer to Daniel. It was actually a really good thing that Sean was here right now, or their conversation might have got a little out of control. And it was getting pretty late... she had lingered her longer than she had intended.
"You're really lucky your brother is here, or I might just take you up on that offer. But, unfortunately, I actually have to go. My lunch hour's over, and it's time for me to go back to the office and do nothing for the rest of the afternoon. But maybe I'll come by and visit you after work... and if you're really nice to me, maybe I'll bring you a cheeseburger."

He laughed. There was a moment for something highly inappropriate comment, but Daniel didn't say a word. He knew it would have turned both his brother and Victoria extremely bright.
"A cheeseburger hm?" Daniel grinned. "I do think you should come back and visit after work. I'm always nice to you, so you don't have to worry about that. I'm never mean, I only like to tease people." He winked at her. "I like everything on my cheeseburgers. Cheese fries are also good, just for future reference."

"Hmm, cheese fries," Victoria said thoughtfully, smirking at him. "I'll try to remember that. Although, I can't guarantee that they'll make it here, even if I do remember... I might just eat them all on the way here."
She was having too much fun, and if she was honest with herself, she really didn't want to leave him. She had reassured herself that he was all right (she would never admit it, but she'd actually been quite worried about him), but she just enjoyed talking with him and joking around with him more than she really should.
"And when I come back, we can discuss the details of our sparring match," she added. "Ooh, on second thought, maybe I'll let you eat all the cheese fries... if you keep eating like that, I'll definitely beat you."

Daniel rolled his eyes with a smirk on his face. "You could always buy two orders and then come here and eat one order on your way here," he said jokingly.
Now that Victoria was leaving, that left him with Sean. Daniel could hear the questions already coming from his brother. Some of those questions would probably not get asked verbally, but still he could already hear the questions.
"Oh the details hm? I'm sure that will be interesting." He raised an eyebrow with his usual smug look. "I promise you sweetheart that even if I eat a whole lot, I'm still good at what I do. You can attempt to fatten me up, but it won't work."

"Well, we'll just have to see about that," Victoria said with a grin. "But anyway, I don't need to resort to devious methods to beat you. I can do it perfectly well on my own."
Just for emphasis, she flexed her arms once again, not that he could really see anything under her bulky Ministry robes. Still, anything that made him look at her figure was a good thing, right?
"All right. I'll see you later, unless you're released early. Which wouldn't surprise me, actually... the nurses are probably all getting tired of you hitting on them all."
She turned to Sean then, smiling warmly at him. "Good to see you again, Sean... see if you can keep your brother out of trouble, will you?"

Sean watched the exchange with a growing amusement, and he had to fight to keep from raising an eyebrow. He rather liked Victoria and her spunk, and didn't want to embarrass her, but good Godric almighty was his brother going to get it when she left.
By the time she finally turned to go, his arms were crossed over his chest, and he smiled and nodded at her. "Always a pleasure, Victoria... and I gave up trying to keep him out of trouble years ago. I'm sure you've noticed he doesn't listen well. Anyway, have a good one."
He waited a couple of seconds after she left before turning a lifted eyebrow look to his brother. "Wow... that was... quick, Daniel. I'm impressed."

As Victoria left, Daniel watched her leave then turned to Sean only to find him with a certain look. "What," he asked as Sean's eyebrow rose. Daniel knew that he flirted with Victoria. She flirted right back, and that was amusing to Daniel. Usually girls would just sort of look at him and walk the other way if he laid it out there, but Victoria responded back. He would be lying if he said there wasn't some sort of attraction.
"What was quick," he asked with a slightly confused look on his face.

"Don't you 'what' me. You are SO not allowed to comment on me and Lydia again."
He finally sat down, taking the chair closest to his brother's bed. "She's been your partner for what, two weeks? That's impressive. I like her. She's too good for you, though."

"Oh, so you do like her," Daniel said with a grin. "Look at my little brother growing up." He gave a small chuckle. "And just because YOU say I'm not allowed doesn't mean I still can't. I like seeing you turn all red and stuff."
As Sean moved to go sit in the chair closest to him, he sat up in his bed a little more. "What are you talking about," he repeated. "She's the one that proposed the sparring match." Daniel didn't fully realize how obvious it was that he liked Victoria. Of course, Daniel was never really good at being subtle when it came to women.
"And what do you mean she's too good for me? She's just as bad as I am, well almost anyway."

"I did not say I liked her." Sean, however, was clearly not denying this, either. Because he did like Lydia. A lot. But he wasn't going to give his brother anything more to harrass him about.
"Oh, stop. You raised the stakes to a date... I heard that, you know." And he didn't plan on giving Dan any reason to tease Victoria, but he also noticed the way the girl blushed. "Anyway... I would highly suggest that you let her win that sparring match. Just... trust me on this."

Like Sean, Daniel did notice the way Victoria blush, especially when hair fell into her face. That was a sure sign that she was blushing.
"Let her win the sparring match? Really?" He let a smile cross his face. "I'm already one step ahead of you brother." Daniel winked. "As for this whole date thing, it just sort of happened. Besides it's not exactly a date." He stopped for a moment. "Well, maybe it is a date."

Understanding dawned on Sean, you could almost see it in his eyes. "Oh, you sneaky son of a banshee. You wanted to take her on a date and knew she'd shoot you down if you outright asked. Well done, you're smarter than I give you credit for."
He was teasing, of course, but certainly not letting the oppertunity for payback slip away. "She's just your type, you know. I can't say I'm surprised."
In actuality, he was happy for Dan. It was good to see him thinking of something other that work and his brother for a change. Besides, he didn't know if he would ever get to the point where he could ask Lydia on a real date, so he had to live through Daniel.

A wide grin grew on Daniel's face and he gave a small chuckle. "You're smart," he said. Of course he knew that if he did ask Victoria right out on a date, she'd probably turn him down. It was the perfect plan. Daniel was quite proud of himself for thinking of it.
He rolled his eyes. "She's stubborn but she jokes back. Besides how else am I going to ask her out on a date? She would probably very well turn me down." He winked at Sean.
"Now you on the other hand, when are you going to ask Ms. Nurse out on a date? Even if it is just for coffee?" Daniel allowed the teasing to fade away for a moment. "I'm serious Sean. Ask her for coffee. You both need something like that."

"Oh, stop," Sean said, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest. The roll of his eyes was part of it, too, letting Daniel know that in no way did he feel comfortable discussing this with Daniel. And if he insinuated any nurse/patient ideas, Sean would die. Not that he hadn't had the thoughts himself, but that was besides the point.
"We're both busy and only know each other on a professional basis, so don't get your hopes up." He scratched the back of his neck, not telling Daniel that he'd been awake early this morning and ran into her for coffee in the cafeteria... and the intimate moment when she introduced him to Sarah. He of course didn't tell Dan about the conversation with their father the day before, either. Sean wasn't about to get involved with anyone.

"And your point is," Daniel said raising his eyebrows. "I've seen the way you two look at each other. I'm not completely stupid." All he wanted was for Sean to be happy. He could tell there was something Sean was holding back. The way he scratched his neck. That was usually a sign there was something else, and his facial expression.
"You know you should try it," he said still serious. "This whole we're both busy thing, that's just an excuse. There's a reason you go for coffee. You get to know each other in a non-professional way. You need to be happy Sean, and you seem to be happy when she's there." Daniel moved a little to look directly at his brother. "This whole doom and gloom thing you go going on, you need to get over it. If you're worried about something, don't. You need to lighten up a little bit and live. That's the whole point of living."

He wasn't used to his brother being serious about things like this. Especially where Sean and a girl was concerned. It made him uncomfortable.
But when he mentioned the doom and gloom thing, Sean actually laughed. And when he laughed, he smiled, and he actually looked his age, rather than ten years older. "Well don't be so subtle, Dan." He was right though, Sean had to admit. Especially if he didn't have a lot of time left, he might as well enjoy what was left.
"But we already had coffee. At about 3 this morning. So I'm a step ahead of You, too."

"You know subtly is not exactly my thing," he said with a half smile. Daniel wanted to ask if Sean had any more visions, or what exactly happened when the man got away back at the school. He wanted to know, but Daniel knew better than to ask at the moment. If he asked, more than likely Sean would do one of two things: open up and tell him, or just shut down. At the moment, he figured that Sean would more than likely shut down.
"You sly dog," Daniel said with his half smile growing. "Well, you know what comes after coffee don't you? Ask her to dinner sometime. Of course I don't recommend you cooking, so just take her somewhere. Besides, you know if she had coffee with you at 3 this morning, she likes you too."

"I know exactly what comes after coffee. A sparring match," Sean teased his brother and laughed lightly. "I don't know. Leave me alone, Dan. We've done lunch before. I'm working on it, okay? I just... don't think I want her to get too attached."
He stopped there, not wanting to give anything away. Unless he and Eric could figure something out, and soon, he was going to have a hard enough time saying goodbye to his brother without him knowing. And Lydia had already lost so many people in her life.... he didn't want to let her down. He didn't want to hurt her.
Godric... His eyes lifted to Daniel's again. "I think I might love her."

"Aw c'mon Sean, I want my little brother to be happy. I much rather you be happy than me." Daniel stated the obvious. He didn't know why, but he always had to watch out for Sean. Sean always watched out for him. If anything ever happened to his brother, Daniel knew that he would come crashing down. Nothing would ever be the same anymore. He would end up withdrawing from the world around him.
At the mention of Sean not wanting Lydia to get too attached, Daniel's eye brows rose. "What do you mean you don't want her to get too attached? Honestly, I think you're already quite attached to her and vice versa." Of course, he might not be the best person to go to for relationship advice, but Daniel was smart. He could be reasonable.
"Well I'll be," he said quietly. "If you love her, go for it. I mean, like I said, you've never looked happier around someone. I've never seen you googly eyes for anyone else either."
