If Yvonne asked him if he wanted to leave, Issac would have gotten a little shy. He was having a great time just talking to her and he found that there was some interest in her as well. Issac didn't dwell on that sort of thinking at the moment, there wasn't enough time and it wasn't the right place to really think about that.
"Yeah, I tend to be more serious than he is. We keep each other in check. He makes sure I'm not serious all the time and I make sure that he is not playing all the time. We joke around with each other a lot. I'm still planning a prank to get back at him for his prank that he pulled a few weeks ago that dealt with my chair moving every time I wanted to sit down." Issac smiled as he gave a little shake of his head.
"You're pretty easy to talk to. Sometimes girls can be a little intimidating, I'm not going to lie." He laughed. "But maybe I had an extra dose of courage or something like that today."

Xander couldn't deny that he'd broken a few hearts in his time, and he would probably break a few more before he was ready to settle down. But deep down, he knew he would settle down one day. His parents were still close after all this time, and Xander always knew that, one day, he wanted to have what his parents had. But he was still young, and he wanted to live life to the fullest... to have a good time and not take things too seriously.
"I definitely agree. Especially when you're young, there's no reason not to just have fun, you know? There's plenty of time to settle down and be serious later. I'm not in any hurry to get old and boring."

Yvonne, on the other hand, was just about fearless when it came to guys. Even with Eddie, she didn't hold back from hugging him as a friend. She was never afraid to tell a guy that she liked him... or even if she didn't.
With a flirtatious smile on her face, she reached across the table and took his hand in hers. "We're really not that scary," she assured him. "Well, we can be, but most of the time, girls just want a guy who will be honest with them and who'll make them smile. Most girls will sit around, just hoping that a nice guy will come over and talk to them. I'm not like that, though... I don't like to wait, and I'm not afraid to make the first move."

Carley could agree. There was no sense in really settling down yet. Of course she had to get a good foundation before building up. A job would be good, but just because she would have a job didn't mean that she could still have fun. The job was just a foundation, besides before building up, it had to be decided what would be the best material to use in order to make sure whatever it was being built would be sturdy in addition to the foundation.
"I can understand that completely. Being young, you have to be fun. After all, what's wrong with having experience? Not all of them have to be good but you can always have fun while getting it. Life is all about living it."

Issac couldn't help but laugh. His laughter completely covered up the fact that he was slightly surprised that Yvonne took his hand. If Xander had heard him say anything about him thinking some girls could be intimidating, he knew that would have ended in relentless teasing. Some of those nice girls who liked to sit and wait, he had talked to before, mainly only because of Xander. He hadn't really talked to many girls who were willing to be so bold as Yvonne.
"Well, there's definitely not that many girls like you," Issac stated. "It's good to see that there are women around that have as much confidence in themselves as you do."

"My mother was born in New York," Yvonne explained. "In a part of the city called Brooklyn. She used to tell me stories about Brooklyn, where all the women were loud and bold and not afraid of anything. They were tougher than the men. And even though I didn't grow up there, I learned how to be like that from my mother. She always said that there was no reason in the world that a girl should ever have to wait around for anything that she wants. If she wants it bad enough, she'll go out and get it herself. My dad always said that was what he loved about her... she was fearless. And she taught me to be fearless, too."
Of course, there were some times when she knew she had to hold back. Eddie was one of them. She had known from the minute she met him that she couldn't be too aggressive with him, but she had definitely put out some signals. Then when she found out he was gay, she had to work even harder to hold back. Unrequited crush aside, he was a good friend, and she didn't want to lose him. She tried to tell herself that it didn't matter; that she would take him whatever way she could get him, but sometimes it still hurt.
"Look, I'm not trying to freak you out or anything," she said, her voice turning gentle. "You're a nice guy, and I can tell you're a little shy. But I like you, and I'm not going to beat around the bush about it."

Xander grinned and raised his glass. He didn't find a lot of girls who believed the same way he did. It seemed like a lot of girls were in too great a hurry to settle down, instead of taking advantage of their youth and just having a good time. Sure, they might say they wanted a good time... but they were also secretly hoping for more. He hoped Carley wouldn't be one of those girls, because he was having a good time with her.
"Life is all about living it," he repeated, nodding approvingly. "I'll drink to that. But then again, there's actually not a whole lot I won't drink to."
He laughed at this and reached over to clink his glass against hers. "So tell me, Carley. What kinds of things are you interested in?"

She laughed just before she took a drink. "Other than the Orphanage, I like almost anything. I remember as a child being the fearless one, so I suppose I'm the type that will try almost anything once." Carley gave a shrug. She always wanted to be the one that could live her life. Right now, she was having a great time, but she felt that after she got back to her place and alone, more responsibility would hit her, especially since she was thinking about taking over the Orphanage. It wasn't that Carley was ready to settle down or anything, but it was just the fact that she knew she was going to have to make sacrifices where some things were concerned, and that included going out a lot. However, she wasn't going to let that enter her mind at the moment, she was going to continue to enjoy herself while here and then tomorrow she would go have fun with the children at the Orphanage.
"I've always wanted to jump out of a plane," she said. "I jumped off a second floor balcony once, of course it was a dare, but I ended up breaking my arm. I figure the next time I decide to jump, might as well have a parachute right?"

Xander was much the same way. He had always thought of himself as fearless, or at least he tried to be. Some people might call him reckless instead, because he had a tendency to jump into things without thinking them through. It got him into trouble sometimes, especially when he was in school.
"You too?" he said, surprised. He hadn't figured her for that type, but the fact that she was only made her more intriguing. "I've always wanted to do that, too, but Ikey won't ever go with me. Maybe we could do it together some time."
He was a little shocked at how easily the suggestion slipped out of his mouth. He never made future plans with a girl the first time he met her. In fact, he never made any future plans at all with women. He was the guy who would always say that he'd call... and usually didn't. If he did call again, that was the furthest ahead he ever looked... it was one date at a time with Xander. He needed to do it that way; he needed to feel like he wasn't being tied down.

"Going jumping out of a plane sometime sounds great. Hopefully this time I won't end up breaking anything after I jump." Carley smiled. It was surprisingly easy to talk to Xander. Of course, she realized that he was the 'ladies man' sort, but he was entertaining in the least.
"I also want to go do cliff diving at some point in time. I think maybe I could take some of the children from the Orphanage one day, but we'd have to do some sort of fundraiser first. It could be a good experience for them."

Maybe he could try something different with Carley. Whatever happened tonight, maybe he could try being friends with her. He didn't usually have friends that were girls... most of the time, he saw a girl once and that was it. And the one time he had tried a relationship... well, that hadn't ended well. It had been his own fault of course, and he didn't blame the girl... in fact, he wouldn't blame her if she hated him. The fact that he still thought of her fondly, and even missed her sometimes, still troubled him.
But he could see himself being friends with Carley. They had similiar interests, and he could tell she was a lot of fun to hang around. It was an interesting concept... Xander Mosely being friends with a girl and not trying to get into her pants.
Maybe he was finally growing up.
"That sounds like it'd be fun. There are lots of cool experiences you could take the kids on, actually... like rock climbing. I took some lessons in that recently... I'm trying to convince Ike to join me on that one... you should never go rock climbing alone."

Issac let out another small quieter laugh. He had never met a woman that was straight forward, until tonight. There was always a first time for everything. He found that he actually liked the fact that she was fairly straight forward. There wasn't really anything wrong with it.
"Trust me, hardly anything can freak me out. After all, look who I'm best friends with." Issac smiled. Xander had certainly made Issac aware of many different things, but as a result, hardly anything surprised Issac anymore. He learned to take things as they came.
"And I kinda like you too. Like I said, I've never met a woman who is as straight forward as you are. I think I sort of like the idea of not everything being hidden messages."

Carley was getting the same idea. They could be friends. After all, she was enjoying herself while talking to him and she felt comfortable. Not many times of going out and talking to a guy could she say that she felt comfortable. That was more of Yvonne's thing. Carley usually tagged along and went along with everything.
"Especially you," she said teasingly with a laugh. "Maybe he'll join you eventually, and I'll probably look into something like that. I know they like to go to the pools and the beach whenever it gets warmer out. We usually make at least one trip to the beach during the summer, but they need more to do. Staying in the Orphanage can drive some of those kids crazy."

Xander laughed. "Hey, now, what are you implying? That I'd do something crazy and reckless and get myself into trouble?" OK, yes, that was probably exactly what he'd so. But it was interesting that she would figure that out after talking to him for all of 10 minutes. Somehow they seemed to be completely in sync, as thought they had known each other forever.
"The beach is good. It's just too bad that most of the beaches in England are pretty crappy. Maybe you could arrange for a longer trip to one of the islands. The Isle of Wight has some beautiful beaches, and there are lots of other things to do there...hiking, sightseeing, castles... You could hold a fundraiser."

"Maybe," she said jokingly. "You seem the type to go do something like that." Carley was fairly decent at reading people. Right now, she could tell Xander was the type that liked to go out, have fun, and be fearless.
"Yeah, I've been thinking about a fundraiser. We could do something like a bake sale, or something like that. Granted a bank sale will not bring in a whole lot of money, there could be other things we could do. I'll figure something out." The idea that the children would enjoy something like going to the islands and possibly staying there for a little bit so they could go hiking, sightseeing, and that sort of thing, made Carley wish that she was rich. If she had a whole lot of money, she would spend every dime of it on the children.
"I'll figure something out before summer is over, even if that means most of money being spent. Those kids need something."

"There are other kinds of fundraisers you can do, too," Xander said, taking a sip from his drink. He could almost imagine Ike's reaction if he knew what Xander was talking about, but he found her very interesting. For some reason, he was actually enjoying talking about something, instead of just flirting with some empty-headed girl.
"You could do a car wash, or some kind of big event... like a dance," he suggested. "Or you could put on a play with the kids. They'd have fun with it, and all the proceeds could go towards a trip."

I'd rather be honest, because if I put on airs or pretend to be something I'm not, then the person isn't going to really like me for who I really am, you know?" It disturbed her how many women were willing to act differently just to get a guy to like them. There were plenty of other guys out there, and it didn't make sense to put on an act or play stupid games just to get a guy. If one guy didn't like her, Yvonne figured, it was his loss. She would just keep looking until she found one that did. "People shouldn't need a decoder ring to go out on a date. I mean, when it all comes down to it, we're all really looking for the same thing, right? Someone we can connect with. How can anyone connect with someone else if they're playing games?"

"I've been thinking about doing a play," she said. "I know that the costumes could be made with no problem. It's just a matter of what the children want to do. I'm pretty sure they'll settle for a car wash. Anything that deals with water, they're usually up for." Carley laughed.
"I'll talk to them about it tomorrow before lunch so that way everything can be worked out pretty soon." Even though Carley was only twenty-one, the children at the orphanage were her life. She had already found a place where she belonged and that was where she was going to stay.
"Maybe one day you could teach us how to go Rock Climbing."

In a way, she made Xander feel a little guilty. He wouldn't exactly say he had things easy, but he was comfortable, and he had always been content to just sit back and take the easy way out on things. He was in a job that was important and he was good at, but he didn't exactly like it. And it wasn't like there was a whole lot of opportunity for advancement there, either. He dated a lot of girls, mostly one-night stands, because it was easier than having a relationship and making a commitment.
Meanwhile, Carley had something she was passionate about, something that mattered to her above all else. She had a purpose and she was working to help the children and give back to the only home she'd ever known. Next to her, he was just a lazy git.
"You know, they have these places... you can get the experience of rock climbing without the danger. They're indoors.... kind of a new thing. It's a good place to learn, because you're not actually on the side of a mountain."

Nell had planned to meet Victoria at the Leaky Cauldron that day so that they could spend time in Diagon Alley together. She was early, however, so she sat at a table and pulled out her file-o-facts and flipped to her calendar for April. She had 3 meetings for her business this weekend, dinner with a group of friends from school... she laughed quietly when she noticed she had even penciled in some time to clean her apartment.
She looked up at the door and around the place to see if maybe Victoria was already there when a familiar face caught her eye and she looked down quickly at her planner. "Oh you have to be kidding me..." she whispered to herself.
