"Nah, I'm good with this," Yvonne said, nodding to her drink. "But we definitely should get to a table, though. I know from experience, a bartender will listen in on interesting conversations when they're bored. And that guy looks bored." She nodded toward the bartender, who was watching them. Taking the lead, Yvonne jumped down from the stool and began to walk over to an empty table nearby, reasoning that this way, they were close enough to the bar that if they needed drink refills, they could signal the bartender. Taking a seat, she turned to Issac and grinned. "Anyway, the club's OK. I'm not much of a dancer, so I probably wouldn't go there if I didn't work there. But I like it there... I get to meet all kinds of different people. You know the Wrackspurts? They played there the other night. I met the lead singer." She didn't add that the lead singer was now dating her hopeless crush. Issac laughed in agreement. The bartender was looking fairly bored, and then Xander looked like he was doing okay with Carley, so it was only right if he and Yvonne stepped away to a table. Following her to the table, he took one last glance to his friend, just to make sure he wasn't making a fool of himself and then looked back to Yvonne. "I'm not too much of dancer either. I only do it if I absolutely have to, and even then I'm still not that great." His eyebrows raised as he heard her say the Wrackspurts. "The Wrackspurts? I've heard of them, just never really listened to them. Are they any good?"

Yvonne raised an eyebrow at him in a teasing grin. "Just out of curiosity, when do you ever actually have to dance? Is it like they say in songs, sometimes you just have to dance? Like a sneeze or something, it's just something you have to get out of your system?"
She laughed then, to let him know she was kidding. Sometimes her humor could be misread as being sort of mocking, and people didn't always get her.
Then he was asking about the band, and it took Yvonne a couple of seconds to get past the fact that the lead singer was dating Eddie. She was going to have to get over him eventually, but for now, it still hurt just a little.
"I guess they were pretty cool. The guitarist is pretty hot. I'm not really so much into the wizarding music, though. I'm a muggleborn, so I'm kinda still drawn to muggle music. Have you heard the new one by Pink Floyd? They're amazing."

Xander laughed as she told him about the pranks she used to pull on the girl who gave her a hard time. He wouldn't have taken Carley for a prankster, but he liked it. It made her a little more interesting... a girl who could laugh and joke around and play good-natured pranks. She was a lot like him.
"Amber's in Ravenclaw. She's so quiet, it's kind of hard to get to know her. I always feel so distant from her. Maura's a little more like me. She's a Gryffindor, and so was I. You know, always looking for something fun to do, getting into trouble, playing pranks. Were you in Gryffindor?"

"But I'm better looking than that guitarist, right?" Issac looked as if he was serious for a moment then he started to laugh. "I'm only joking." He felt like he could joke around with Yvonne more so than a few other girls he had spoken too. She had a lot better sense of humor.
"I love Pink Floyd," he said with a grin. "Although my top favorites are Led Zepplin and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The Beatles are pretty good too and I can't forget about the Rolling Stones." Issac rested his arms against the table. "Although, I can't say I've heard Pink Floyd's new song."

"Those Ravenclaws will more than likely end up opening up before they graduate. They just need a little push in the right direction." Gryffindor seemed to suit Xander. That would have been the house she would have guessed first. At his question, Carley shook her head. "Hufflepuff," she said with a laugh. Of course Hufflepuff was generally the house that was supposed to be quite and just be there. She always thought that the reason she got sorted into Hufflepuff was because she had a really big heart.
"Of course, no one ever really suspected it was me in school who pulled a few pranks on a few other students. I mean, I didn't really do it unless they were asking for it. It's always the quiet ones you have to look out for."

Xander grinned at her. "Hufflepuff, huh? I've always thought Hufflepuffs were underestimated. I mean, what's wrong with a little loyalty and hard work, right? Better than being a stuck-up snob like the Slytherins."
It was at that moment that Xander noticed that the other two had departed and moved to a table nearby. He nodded in their direction.
"So... it looks like we've been ditched," he said. "Do you want to stay here and talk, or should we join them?"

Yvonne frowned and put her finger on her chin, studying him carefully. "Hmmm... I don't know.... You're not bad and all, but he was pretty hot...." She giggled. "Nah, I'm kidding. You're definitely better."
She leaned a little closer to him as he talked about the muggle bands that he liked. Music was a weakness of Yvonne's, especially muggle music. So when a guy started talking about the same bands she liked, it definitely intrigued her even more.
"Dark Side of the Moon is seriously the best album I've ever heard. I've practically worn out my copy listening to it. My roommate's about ready to punch me, I swear. But it's like... a spiritual journey. Led Zeppelin is awesome, too. But you know who my favorite singer is? Janis Joplin. When I was younger, I seriously wanted to be her. Ever heard of her?"

"Hufflepuffs are! Of course, you don't ever really hearing about a Hufflepuff getting into trouble. I ended up pulling a prank in the middle of Charms one day on a Gryffindor boy that had been bothering me. A Slytherin got blamed for it." Carley let out another laugh.
Noticing that Yvonne and the other guy disappeared, her eyes followed over to where they were. A smile appeared on Carley's face, then she looked back to Xander. "Let's just let them have a little fun. Yvonne needs it. She needs a little cheering up."

Issac could put up a wall of courage when he needed to. This was not an exception. He gave her a wink after her comment and broadened his smile. "Thank you."
"I have heard of Janis Joplin. She's my mum's favorite. When I went back home to visit my parents, my mum would always have Janis Joplin playing. She would play it so much, my dad had to take out the record and hide it from her for a little bit so she wouldn't wear it out completely." Issac laughed. "What about Jefferson Airplane or Bob Dylan?"

Yvonne laughed loudly. She had the kind of laugh that was infectious, so loud that it usually made people turn around to see what was so funny. "I did wear out my Janis Joplin record from playing it so much. I had to buy a new one, and I've almost worn that one out, too. Jefferson Airplane has some cool stuff, too... and of course I love Bob Dylan, particularly when he gets angry. I don't know, maybe I'm weird, but I love angry music. If it's too happy, it just gets on my nerves."
They were getting past the cute attempts to impress each other and were starting to really talk about themselves. It felt easy and comfortable.
"If your parents listened to muggle music, does that mean you're muggleborn, too?"

Xander let out a laugh. "Nice. Any time you can get a Slytherin in trouble for something they didn't do, I think you've achieved full success. Back in school, I had this Slytherin kid who was sort of like my arch enemy, and we were always pulling pranks on each other. My best one, though, was the one I actually pulled on our professor. I think it was old Sluggy, actually. I enchanted his chair to make rude noises when ever he sat down in it or moved around. And I managed to make it look like my nemesis did it... the guy spent weeks in detention, and got thrown off the Slytherin Quidditch team...."
He couldn't help but laugh at the memory. He probably should have been able to say that he had grown up a lot since then, but the truth was, he really hadn't. He was just as immature now as he was then... But at least he was more charming about it now.
He shrugged casually. He really didn't care whether they moved or stayed where they were. He couldn't make fun of Ike from here, of course, but that was OK. It wasn't like he didn't make fun of him all the time, anyway.
"She does, huh?" Xander said when Carley mentioned that Yvonne needed cheering up. She seemed perfectly cheerful now, but he imagined that Carley had a better idea of what was going on with her friend. "I'm not sure Ikey there is the best guy for that, but I suppose they'll be fine. Let's just keep an eye on them."

"No, I'm not muggleborn," Issac admitted, "nor are my parents. We come from a long line of pure-bloods. My parents have always been interested in muggles, so we started to live in a muggle neighborhood at the beach in Australia. They loved everything possible that had to deal with muggles, so we used both muggle things, and magical things. I could blend in growing up with the other children in the neighborhood until I turned 11. My parents had to alter a few memories, but after that, everything was good."
The way his parents lived was what made him a little more worried about them, especially now. However, they did live in Australia. Nothing really happened in Australia yet, so maybe it would not spread that far.

Carley let out a laugh. "Maybe, maybe not, but he's giving her the attention she needs." She knew that she shouldn't elaborate on why exactly Yvonne needed the attention since it wasn't really her place to give all the details. "She looks like she's doing okay at the moment, but yeah, we should keep an eye out just in case."
She looked back to Xander. "So, you and your friend, you two grew up together or something?"

Xander shrugged, casting another look over at Ike and Yvonne. Although Issac could sometimes be a bit unsure of himself with girls, he seemed to be doing very well with Yvonne. Xander was glad for that, because he really liked Carley. He wouldn't feel like he was abandoning his best friend if he also found a girl to talk with.
"Oh, you know. We've been friends ever since Hogwarts. I used to drag him into all kinds of adventures, and he used to make me do my homework. How about you and Yvonne? How long have you know each other?"

The way his parents lived was what made him a little more worried about them, especially now. However, they did live in Australia. Nothing really happened in Australia yet, so maybe it would not spread that far. Yvonne couldn't help the way her smile widened. She tried very hard not to have a bad opinion about purebloods, but she'd had many run-ins with the snobbish types back at school. That was the reason she'd been expelled from Hogwarts in her 6th year. Whenever someone insulted her for being a muggleborn, she would fight back, and it often got ugly. So when she met someone who was a pureblood, who didn't look down on muggles or muggleborns, she couldn't help liking them a little bit more. "Your parents sound really cool," she said. "So, you're from Australia, then? I was wondering about your accent... it doesn't sound quite like the usual British accent. When did you move to England?"

"They are pretty cool. Dad and mum still like to go out to the clubs and dance." Issac laughed and rolled his eyes. "My dad works in the Australian Ministry. He used to work in the muggle department and then he transferred over to the misuse of magic department. The Ministry here needed him for something and he decided that maybe it would be good if we all moved together so he could work here for a little bit. Dad always wanted to come over to England for a visit, so he was all for it. That was when I was 11. I went to Hogwarts. My mum missed Australia too much, so when I was in my third year, they moved back to Australia. They didn't want me to transfer to the school there because I already had friends at Hogwarts. I finished up school, and I figured that I wanted to stay here."
Issac turned his head toward Xander and then back to Yvonne. "Plus, I had to make sure he," he said motioning over to Xander, "didn't do anything too stupid." He grinned. "I like it here, even though it's a lot colder here than it is in Australia. You can't surf here either, but I like the idea that I can go back there and take a nice vacation whenever I can."

"You surf?" Yvonne said, intrigued. She leaned forward and smiled at him. "I always wanted to learn how to surf. But England isn't exactly a surfing mecca, if you know what I mean. I mean, it's always cold and rainy, and the waves aren't very good... Are you a good surfer? Tell me about it."
She had been born in America, but moved to England when she was very young, and she'd never really been anywhere else. There was a part of her that longed to travel, to see exotic locations and learn new and interesting things. The fact that Issac was from Australia made him seem even more intriguing than before, and she wanted to let him know that she was definitely interested.

There was a small hint of a blush that rose to Issac's cheeks. He forced himself not to think about it but focused on the idea of surfing instead. "I'm not a pro at it or anything," he admitted. "It's one of the things to do growing up in Australia if you're on the coast. My father taught me how when I was around six. Surfing is great though. You can get away from the coast and the ocean seems to take away any problems you feel when you go out there. When you're surfing, it's just you, the surf board, and the waves. That's it. You don't have to worry about anything, except not falling off your board." Issac smiled.
"Sometimes it can be rough. You have to know the right time to go, based on the rip currents. It's not exactly safe to go when the rip currents are really strong. I learned that the hard way once. Ended up hitting my head on a rock underwater but apparently I have a really hard head. It left a small scar, but nothing serious." He gave a shrug. "But with the chances aside, surfing is worth the risk. It's sort of like an adrenaline rush sometimes. If I'm not really wanting to surf, there is a small cove not to far from the place I usually surf. The waves there are not that big, I can just float out on the surf board and be completely at peace, nothing bothering you."
Issac realized that he was rambling on a little bit and he scratched the back of his neck. "But yeah, surfing is the best thing in the world. You should try it sometime if you're able to go somewhere to surf."

Guys were so cute when they blushed. Yvonne never blushed, but when she saw a guy blushing over something, it always made her feel warm inside. She leaned a little closer, even moving her chair so that it was closer to his, as she listened to him talk.
He was passionate about surfing and about the ocean, and of course Yvonne responded to that. She didn't even mind that he was rambling, because it was just so cute.
She was honestly tempted to ask him flat out if he wanted to go somewhere and make out, but she had the feeling that he wasn't the kind of guy who would just go and make out with random strangers after only a few minutes of talking. Still, the widening smile on her face should have been a clue as to where her mind was at.
"Do you visit Australia often?" she asked. "I mean, you can't really be happy here in England, with our pitiful beaches and nonexistent waves and the constant rain. If I lived near the beach in Australia, I don't think I'd ever leave."

He didn't quite realize that Yvonne was moving closer to him, or maybe he did and he just didn't mind it. Usually he would be over analyzing the situation, thinking of the outcomes, worrying about what the other person was thinking, but right now he wasn't thinking of any of those things.
Issac was at ease, especially talking about surfing. Yvonne was one of the easier girls to talk to. "I visit whenever I can. I usually go around Christmas time, granted it is really hot down there. It's nothing like going surfing on Christmas day." He laughed. There was nothing really holding him down in England, except maybe his job, and of course he had to make sure that Xander didn't do anything stupid. Other than that, he could just move back to Australia, but something else was keeping him around England.
"It's amazing to live there, but it's even better going back to visit. While you're there for a visit, all of your worries get washed away and you're able to relax. If you always lived there, well it would be just a little harder for that to happen, wouldn't it?"
