Now it was Sirius' turn to look sheepish. "Yeah, OK... I was kind of just kidding about the tapestry," he said. "But there is a staircase just around the corner that leads right to the hallway in front of our common room. We figured the less water we dripped in the main hall, the less likely we would be to get in trouble."
It had made sense at the time. After all, Filch rarely came up here, but he often prowled the halls in front of the Gryffindor common room, presumably because he expected Gryffindors to be most likely to break the rules.
"But seriously, we do want to explore with you," he continued as he started to lead her toward the stairway. He shot a glance at James, realizing that he was speaking for the both of them. They had just been talking about rounding up Remus and Peter, and exploring with cute Ravenclaw girls hadn't exactly been on the agenda. "Just give us a few minutes to change."

Eva's grin widened. She had really been hoping the tapestry entrance had been made up; if it hadn't, there would've been nothing to distract from her own mess-up. She allowed herself to be led to the staircase, and as they walked, she noticed the look Sirius gave to James. Her smile wavered. "Unless of course there was something else you were planning to do. I could go..."
She hoped they wouldn't make her leave, but it was the polite thing to say. Even if they did have plans, maybe they would let her go with them. Probably not. They probably just thought she was another girl paying them attention. She glanced away from them to hide a small frown. Eva honestly just wanted to hang around them, it wasn't even about flirting or anything like that. Yes, her conversation sounded flirty, but that just seemed to be the only way to get their attention; besides, that was just the way she talked anyway, for better or worse in some situations.

Sirius waved off her protest. "No, it's OK, really. James and I just have to discuss a couple things... since he seems to have forgotten how to speak," he added, nudging his friend. "We were thinking of trying to drag Remus away from his studying for a while, that's all. But maybe I can send James off to find him, and you and I can go on ahead."
There was a challenge to his words, accompanied by a wicked grin. In a few years, he'd be an absolute heartbreaker, but even now, that grin was known to set a few girls' hearts beating. Of course, he was still too young to do much of anything, but just the same, she would be wise not to agree to be alone with him.

Her eyes narrowed a fraction at the innocent suggestion accompanied by that grin. She glanced at James, who didn't seem to be protesting. Something really made her want to go with Sirius, but at the same time, her sense was telling her to suggest they all go find Remus together. Eva had talked to Remus once before, and if he was around, she would be okay. He was the sensical one. They were the ones who did things on whim. Her eyes went back to his face, still set with the smirk.
"When and where will they meet us?" she asked, trying to be offhand in case she wanted to back out. Though now that she had said that...It was basically agreeing, and Eva found herself slightly nervous. She shook it off by telling herself that soon the other two would be with them, and she would be hanging out with all three of them if she were lucky. She had wanted to do that ever since she had spotted them at all their Sorting.

James was fully aware of Sirius' thoughts. He allowed his friend to take over just so he could talk to the girl. After all, his mind was back to the fact that Lily helped him. He smiled at Sirius with a knowing smile and then turned to Eva. "Oh, we'll find you, don't worry. You and Sirius can go ahead, but we should change first. No matter how charming Mr. Black is, being a sopping wet git will get him no where." James grinned widely at the two.
"Give him two minutes and Sirius will be back down in a fresh new pair of clothes and he will be more than willing to start exploring the castle with you. Remus and I will meet up with you two along the way. Trust me, we'll be able to find you with no problem."

Eva was a little surprised when she heard James speak up for the first time. She laughed on cue when he mentioned Sirius being a sopping wet git, and flashed "Mr. Black" a smile.
"Yeah, all right," Eva agreed reluctantly as James re-explained the plan. They had reached the Gryffindor common room entrance by now, and she fidgeted, feeling a little out of place. "I guess I'll just wait for you here then?"
The Ravenclaw still had her doubts, but she didn't see many other options. She suddenly remembered that originally she had wanted to know what they needed a certain potion or spell for. Eva would have to bring it up to Sirius, maybe he would tell her when they were alone.

Sirius gave James a friendly punch on the arm. "I'm not the only sopping wet git here, you know," he pointed out. "Although at least old Snivellus got soaked, too, and he's a bigger git than both of us."
He glanced up at the portrait of the Fat Lady, who was eying them suspiciously. "You'd better get back, we wouldn't want you to spy on our password and sneak into our Common Room when we're not here," Sirius teased Evalyn. Of course he doubted that the Ravenclaw would do any such thing, but he and James certainly would, so it wasn't like it never happened. They had been trying to find the entrance to the Slytherin common room for quite some time, so that they could test the rumor that claimed the password was simply "pureblood."

As Sirius mentioned Snivellus, she cringed involuntarily. Lily must have started to make an influence on her ever since she had met her a few days ago. Eva laughed anyway, though; she wasn't quite at Lily's level of sainthood yet. And Snivellus really was a git.
"Aw man, my cover is blown. Didn't I tell you? I'm a Ravenclaw spy!" The Fat Lady looked appalled at this, but Eva just stuck her tongue out at her. "But fine. I'll go back a ways if it bothers you. My sources tell me that the Slytherin password is just 'pureblood,' do you think they could really be that thick?" She grinned before adding, "Well, yes, I suppose they could."
The Ravenclaw backed away from the disapproving portrait and slapped her hands over her eyes. She actually wouldn't mind knowing the password...Maybe she was still close enough to hear it...

Sirius let out a short, bark-like laugh. "Yeah, we heard the same thing. I'm pretty sure they really are that thick. But the thing is, the entrance to their common room is hidden. We tried following Snivelly down there to figure out where it was, and he made a funny turn, so we lost him. We haven't been able to find where it is to test the password."
He laughed again at the way she pulled back and covered her eyes. Truthfully, he didn't mind if she had the password; she wasn't likely to do any harm in the common room. Besides, the Fat Lady changed password rather often. But it was still funny to see her trying to be discreet. To play along, he leaned in close to the Fat Lady and whispered the password to her. The painting swung forward, revealing the door to the common room. "I'll be back in 5 minutes," he said to Evalyn with a parting grin.

He had whispered the password. Ah well. No sneaking into Gryffindor for you. Not that she had a plan for what she would do with such information anyway...She had liked every Gryffindor she had met so far, so she didn't see the point of needing to sneak in there when she could just be invited by one of them if there was an actual need to do so. Which, there probably wouldn't be. Eva sometimes wondered at how "smart and wise" Ravenclaws actually were, because their password was always a riddle; this meant that anyone could figure it out if they were clever enough. Lily was a genius, and she was in Gryffindor; she could probably get into the common room quite easily if she wanted to.
Eva smiled and peeked through her hands as Sirius promised to return shortly, and was rewarded by a glimpse of red armchairs inside a big room. From the sliver of it that she could see, it didn't look that different from her own common room. At least a slight bit of her never-ending curiosity was sated. "See you then!" she replied enthusiastically. She was getting excited. This day had proved to be less boring than she had expected.

Sirius cast a last look at Evalyn, flashing her one of his most charming grins, before disappearing into the common room. Once inside, he and James immediately found that all eyes were on them. Some were curious, some were angry, some were amused. But Sirius didn't care. He just gave them all a wave and made a quick, if soggy, dash for the stairs.
"Can't talk now," he said. "I'm on a schedule. No time to waste."
He didn't wait for James as he made his way up the stairs to the common room and began to pull out a change of clothes. "We have to learn that drying spell Lily used on Snivellus," he commented to his friend. "It's annoying that I have to change clothes, when I have other things I'd rather be doing."
He turned to James, a serious look on his face. "Listen, stall as long as you can in bringing Remus along. Find Peter, too, if necessary. I think she heard what we were saying earlier, and I have to find out just how much she heard."

James smiled at the people in the common room as he followed behind Sirius. They were both used to a lot of people looking at them. He dashed up the stairs and pulled off his top robe, leaving his pants and shirt which he untucked.
"That was my plan," James said not hiding his laugh. "I'll stall as long as possible while you talk to the girl and see what all you can find out. Soon enough you'll have her wrapped around your finger just like the other ones." He always went along with Sirius, no matter what was going on. After all, they were best friends and wasn't that what friends were supposed to do? Maybe it was just because he was so young that he never thought about anything he did.

"Oh, I'd say I'm already more than halfway there already," Sirius said, laughing. "Why else would she agree to go off exploring alone with me? I mean, really, if you were a girl, you wouldn't trust me that much, would you?"
He'd already broken two hearts this year, and although he felt badly about it, he still couldn't quite seem to stop himself. Girls were fascinating, and he wanted to know more about them. And the fact that they seemed to fall under his spell so easily just made it more fun to him. He really didn't mean any harm; he was just having fun.
Sirius dressed quickly, then took a quick look in the mirror. His hair was still wet, and he tried to comb it out, to make sure it didn't form any of those annoying little curls on the ends.
"All right, I'm off. Wish me luck. See you in about... half an hour? Maybe longer. I'm going to start with the creepy passageway on the sixth floor--you know, the one that leads into that abandoned corridor with the skeletons along the walls? That'll creep her out, and she'll be clinging to me by the end. Then, after that, if there's time, I was thinking I'd show her the secret passageway to Honeydukes."

Eva leaned against the wall, humming an unidentified song to herself quietly. She jumped when the Gryffindor common room door opened, only to find that it was just an older student, who was giving her a suspicious glance as he passed by. Sighing, she relaxed against the wall again. How had she gotten into all this, anyway? Oh, right, she had been nosy. Heh. Yeah. Nosing your way into things out of your league. She considered this statement for a moment before arguing against it: Well, not necessarily out of my league. I'm just...unfamiliar. Yes, that's it.
She jumped again as the door opened for a second time. Eva peeked over.

Having checked his appearance and said a quick goodbye to James, Sirius rushed down the stairs and through the common room. He nearly knocked over a first year in his rush to get to the door, but then stopped abruptly. He took a few deep breaths and adopted a casual, laidback air before he walked through the door.
Breaking into what seemed like a totally unaffected smile, he strode over to Eva. "Hey," he said. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

It was, indeed, Sirius Black who walked through the door. "Oh, no, you're fine. Looking like a wet dog requires a goodly amount of clean-up, I'm sure," Eva replied with a grin. "So, where to now?" She was hoping he would take her somewhere practical, that she could actually use in the future, but exploring in and of itself was still exciting. Hogwarts had to be the best place on earth. Too bad Eva had to graduate in five years... (sorry so short response )
