Mischief (Marauders and Friends)

[Sirius Black]

(The following people are invited into this thread: Marauders, Lily, Brynn, Danica, Robin S, and anyone else who is interested. )

Ever since the Hogsmeade attack, the school had cracked down on Hogsmeade weekends. First and second year students were no longer permitted to visit Hogsmeade on the weekends, despite the fact that Sirius, James, Peter, and Remus had saved a lot of students’ lives using the secret passage under Honeydukes. It wasn’t entirely fair, and Sirius was more than a little bit irked about the whole thing.

Today was a Hogsmeade weekend, and the students who were still permitted to go were now forced to be escorted in groups by professors or aurors. Sirius was half-tempted to convince James and the others to sneak into town using the invisibility cloak, but instead, he told the guys to meet him at the tree by the lake. He wasn’t quite sure what they were going to do, but it was warm, and far too nice to be cooped up inside. He was sure they could come up with some way of entertaining themselves.

James was also irked about not being able to go to Hogsmeade now. Of course, if he really wanted to go all he had to do was get his cloak and go. However, James wasn't going to mention it quite yet. He was just going to meet Sirius down by the lake. Grabbing a few candies that James finally perfected, he walked down to the lake.

Seeing that Sirius was the only one there, he grinned. "Hey mate," James said greeting his friend. "I have a surprise for you."

While Sirius waited, he had begun amusing himself by skipping stones across the surface of the lake. Twice now, the stones had been intercepted by the Giant Squid, who had reached out with a tentacle and knocked the stone down beneath the surface.

At the sound of James' voice, Sirius looked up, stone still poised in his hand. "Hey," he said, breaking into a grin. "What have you got?"

He dropped his voice down to a whisper, just in case Lily, or someone else was coming up. Goodness knew he would get an earful if Lily heard him. James reached into his pocket. "Well, you remember those candies we were trying to make that would make you be sick pretty much all day? I finally was able to fix it." His grin grew as he pulled out two candies. "A little first year trusted me whenever I said that I had candy, and well, he's making friends with the bathroom right now."

James let out a quiet laugh and handed Sirius a piece of the candy. "I'm thinking maybe we could make a whole box of it and give it to maybe Flich or Slughorn, or we could even give it to those Slytherins."

[Brynn De Luca]

Brynn was a third year, and therefore, prefectly alowed to go to Hogsmeade if she wished to. But she didn't wish to. Her colsest friends, (besides Angelo) were all first and second years, and Brynn was more into the idea of hanging out with Remus, Sirius, Peter, and James than going into town and being shy of all the strange, older kids.

She headed to the black lake where Sirius told her to meet them up. "Hey guys," she said in her meek, quiet voice as she made her way to Sirius and James. "What kind of trouble are you two causeing now?" she asked with a small laugh.

[Sirius Black]

"Brilliant!" Sirius was saying to James. "Now all we need are some Slytherins to test it on... Have you seen old Snivellus around lately?"

He laughed, then looked up as he heard the sound of Brynn's voice. "Hey, Brynn," he said, waving at her. ADopting an exaggerated innocent tone, he added, "I have no idea what you're talking about. We would never cause trouble, would we, James?"

[James Potter]

"I haven't seen our greasy haired friend lately," James said with a shake of his head. "So I think we should give him a wonderful greeting whenever we see him again, don't you?" A smirk started to appear on his face.

When Brynn showed up, James turned to look at her. He flashed her a smile and then waved. "What is this trouble you speak of? Sirius and I are the best students at Hogwarts." He gave Brynn a funny look then smiled. "And I wouldn't ever dream of getting in trouble. I believe it is you Brynn De Luca that we have to worry about getting into trouble. We've seen your record."

[Brynn De Luca]

"Oh right, how could i forget that I'm the trouble maker out of you bunch." Brynn giggled. she looked between the boys and shook her head, laughing and placing her hands on her hips. Those two were a funny pair.

"so what are we up to today?" she asked, sitting on one of the large boulders by the lake. "Besides all the normal innocent do-goods, of course."

[James Potter]

"Exactly! I'm glad that someone takes the blame for being the troublemaker. I believe that is why we like you Brynn." James smiled widely. Of course he was just teasing her. James knew fully well that it was always he and Sirius who were causing the trouble. Although, what would Hogwarts be like without a couple of troublemakers? The way James saw it, they never really did cause trouble, they only provided fun. Maybe it was just fun for them, but nevertheless it was fun.

"I have no idea what we are up today. Do you have any idea what we're going to do today Sirius?"

[Severus Snape]

Severus hadn't been overly bothered by the lack of a hogsmead trip. He was a favorite of slughorn's and could get what he wanted from the large professor when he wanted. As always the dubious honor of being in the 'Slugclub' would mean he would have to endure an hour or two of his company, but he wasn't all bad. Severus had learned the difference between Charm and Sleaze, Slughorn knew very well where the line ran between the two traits.
He was walking toward the black lake absently, he hadn't been paying attention to who was around him, he was busy thinking of when he would find time next to meet with Natalie in their hide away. He was less and less embarrassed by his feelings as more time passed with Natalie as Severus's first kiss. It was at that thought of his kiss with her that he finally noticed he was far too close to one James Potter and Sirius Black.

[Sirius Black]

Sirius was thinking about the answer to James’s question. Remus had been talking about wanting to study, which made Sirius suspect that he had gone to the library instead of coming here to join them. But it was far too nice of a day to spend it buried in books and parchment. He wanted to do something fun.

And then the answer literally walked in front of them. Severus Snape was wandering around, looking greasy as ever. Sirius grinned and nudged James. “I think I have an idea,” he said, grinning.

"Are Remus and Peter comming?" Brynn asked, but she figured, after seeing Severus walk past them, that she wouldn't get and answer as the spark of mischief crossed James and Sirius's eyes.

"Uh oh," Brynn said, her voice still small like a mouse. "This is that causing trouble thing I was talking about boys..."

[Sirius Black]

Sirius just shrugged, his eyes on Severus. He was alone, for a change, and it seemed like a good time to prank the greasy-haired Slytherin. He shot a knowing look at James, then assumed an innocent air for Brynn.

"I don't know what you mean," he said. "It's not like we had anything to do with Snivellus walking by just now. If there's trouble, he only has himself to blame for being here in the first place. Right, James?"

Severus' decision to come out made James' mind start turning. A smile started to appear on his face. His attention was finally drawn back to Sirius and Brynn. "Us, causing trouble? Come on Brynn, you know us better than that." He gave a laugh. "Like Sirius said, it's not our fault that Snivellus came out here. If an accident happens, we can't be held responsible for that."

James looked to Sirius. "What sort of accidents should happen today Sirius? Maybe a little water just so happens to come out of no where and make Snivellus wet? It might help him out if he's trying to get a tan."

[Sirius Black]

Sirius grinned. Sometimes he and James thought so much alike that it was if they were the same person. Remus, of course, would always say that they shared a brain. And sometimes, Sirius wondered if he was right. He felt more at home here, with James and his other friends, than he ever had back at home with his family.

"I like the water idea... actually, don't you think he's sitting a little too close to the lake? It really would be a shame if he fell in, don't you think? Although, it could be kind of a good thing, because he'd finally get that bath he needs so badly..."

[James Potter]

"Oh, that would be a bad accident," James said with a shake of his head and a smirk. "I mean, there could be a strong gust of wind and it just knocks him in there. After all, he is skinny and there's always that possiblity." He looked in the direction of Snape.

"Plus, maybe a little soap would help him out, but then again maybe just the water would finally get him clean." Looking back to Sirius, he had a mischevious smile on his face. "The only question is, how is this 'accident' going to occur?"

[Lily Evans]

It was at that moment, however, that Lily Evans began to approach them. As usual, she was not paying much attention to James or Sirius. She also had not noticed Severus, as she was walking with her nose in a book. Although it was a nice day, Lily really had a lot of work to get done, so she came outside to do some studying in the fresh air.

Oblivious to the fact that James was nearby, Lily chose a spot under one of the other trees and sat down to begin reading her assignment for potions.

“Ooh, yeah,” Sirius was saying to James. “Some soap would be good, too. Wouldn’t that be a strange coincidence if some soap just happened to fall into the lake with Snivellus?”

But before he could suggest how such an “accident” might take place, Lily Evans appeared and sat nearby. At the sight of the familiar flash of red hair, Sirius groaned and rolled his eyes. “Oh, boy, here we go,” he said.

It was a known fact that James acted like a complete idiot around Lily. He wasn’t sure if James was still trying his “be nice to people” thing to impress Lily, but even if he wasn’t, and James went through with their plan to terrorize Severus, they were sure to get yelled at by the redhead.

He looked to James with a wary expression on his face, to see what he was going to do.

Brynn figured by now, there was no point in trying to talk James and Sirius out of pranking Sevurus as he walked by them. Her best bet was if Peter or Remus came along and tried to knock some sence into the,. But, seeing as that might not happen, she just put her hands in her pocket and stood in her usual, shy stance.

She caught a glane in the same direction as Sirius had to see Lily not too far ahead. Confused, she looked over to Sirius. "oh boy?" she asked, not sure what he meant.

[James Potter]

Once Lily came down, James' eyes went straight to her. How could they not? He watched her come down and sit down. It always baffled him as to why she claimed that she couldn't stand him but then there were times when she was talking to him and it wasn't in that voice she used if she knew he did something. James was too busy to even hear Sirius' and Brynn's statement whenever Lily appeared.

For a long moment, James was off in another world, daydreaming about Lily. However, feeling that Sirius was staring at him, James snapped out of it and looked back to his friend. The whole being nice to everyone was getting to James. He couldn't be himself if he was like that, besides, Lily hadn't really changed toward him so why was he still pretending to be someone else?

"So, we could just go up to Snivellus and push him in," James stated. "Or, there's that spell that was in that prank book I had that would cause him to fall in..."
