Ally walked around the edge of the black lake before she sat down at the edge near the trees, thinking about the letter that she had sent her sister a few days ago. She was hoping that she would get a reply soon, when she heard a noise from the tree above her.

Natalie heard someone walking under the tree and looked down. She saw a girl, not much older than she was, walking over by the lake. She moved slightly, causing the branch to shake. When the girl started looking around, Natalie decided to speak up. "Hi," she said. "What's your name?"

Ally smiled as she said, "Um my name is Allyson, but you can call me Ally." She had never realized that there were so many people around here.

Natalie climbed down from the tree and sat down in the grass. "Hi, Ally. I'm Natalie. I don't actually go to school here yet, but my uncle is a teacher here and my sister's a student. What house are you in?"

"I am in Ravenclaw, like my sister Naicelle and my older sister Faith used to be in, oh and my brother Dylan also is in Ravenclaw. So only my sister Zoe isn't. So what does your Uncle teach?" Ally hadn't met all of the teachers yet, so she was wondering what some of them were like.

"Oh, OK. My sister is in Ravenclaw, too," Natalie said. "My uncle is Alastor Domino, he teaches Transfiguration. He's actually going to be my father soon, he's adopting me and my sister, Sabrina."

"Really, do you know what happened to your parents if you don't mind me asking? See my father died when I was younger, but I really don't remember much." Ally knew she shouldn't have asked, but she felt that she could connect with Natalie more than anyone else that she had met, not that she had met many people.

"They both died in the Ministry of Magic," Natalie said sadly. "My mum was an Auror and she was killed by someone in the Ministry. My Dad... he worked in the Department of Mysteries and he fell through a veil or something. They both died four months apart. Sabrina wants to find out who killed our mum, but I told her to let it go..."

"Thanks. It's OK. I miss them a lot, but... well, I know my uncle loves me. And I like it here, even though I don't really have a place to be. But I didn't really see very many people back at home. Just my weird muggle neighbor, Mrs. Applegate. But here, I've been in a wedding, and I've made friends with some of the students... do you know Severus Snape? He's my friend, too."

"Yeah, he's in Slytherin. He's been really nice to me. He makes a potion for me so I can sleep... I usually have nightmares and stuff." She shook her head, wanting to change the subject. "Are you really close to your sisters?"

"Um well I am closest with my oldest sister Faith, but Celle and Zoe are too close for anyone else really. And then my brother is usually with his own friends so I don't see him very often. But Faith and I can connect most to, so I am really close with her. What about you and your sister?" Ally said with a smile.

Natalie looked sad. "Sabrina and I used to be really close. But since our mum died, things have been different. She's obsessed with trying to find out who did it. She thinks she's doing it to protect me, even though I told her not to. I know it's really dangerous, and she doesn't listen to me. She thinks I'm just worrying too much."

"That sounds nice. I guess I don't really do a lot of things that other kids do. I just climb trees and daydream. And sometimes I make up stories in my head, stories of good things that will happen. So many bad things happen all the time, and I like to imagine good things instead." She smiled very slightly. "Maybe you could draw a picture and I could make up a story about it."
