Christopher was lucky that he had gotten Andrea to stay. He wasn't ready to leave out to sea yet. Christine was broken after Roland's death, and he couldn't just leave her like that.
Today, he was going to devote some time to the girl who captured him.
He planned to make her feel special, in whatever way he could. Chris wanted her to see that he really was sorry and he was trying to make up for what he had done on the ship. He just reacted and not thought. Plus, he didn't want anything to happen to her if the crew found out. If they had laid a hand on her...
Christopher, dressing nicely as he always did, stood straight as he looked to Andrea. "Where might you like to go today?"

Andrea had been distracted ever since she set foot on British soil. She was still mad as hell at Christopher, but even a part of her realized that it was a cover for her worry over her family. What would they do if they found out she was here. Could she possibly get her inheritance back? How much longer could she trespass on Christopher's kindness. Now that he knew who she really was, she doubted he'd keep her as a cabinboy, it just wasn't proper, and Chris' strange morality would see her ensconced somewhere befitting a lady of her station no doubt. She hated society and it's wayward rules.
"Huh?" she asked distracted by her thoughts.

He hid a frown as she seemed distracted. The thought of bringing her back with him, out to sea had even crossed his mind but he wasn't sure how long she wanted to be around him. He wasn't even sure if she liked him, but he had brought her home with him so that had to tell her she was of some kind of importance to him.
"Where might you like to go today," Christopher asked again. "I thought that we could go out and maybe enjoy ourselves."

She gifted him with an unconscious smile and shrugged, " Wherever." she nodded taking his arm. She was too deep in her thoughts to really be angry with him anymore, and he was letting her stay at his family's residence, of course when she did stop to think about it she was angry with him, and she swore she was a long way from forgiveness, but it was hard to stay angry when she was so worried about her family.

When he started to lead her slowly down the street, he wondered what was going through her head. Something was distracting her and he wondered if it was a good idea to really bring her out here if her head was clouded.
Christopher let the slience fall between them again. She had been the only one to make him think of what he was doing. She knew him better than any woman. He had told her his desires, hopes, and dreams. That of course was when she was known as 'Andrew'. Yes, it did hurt that she never told him she was a girl, let alone the girl that seemed to have his full attention. He wasn't sure if he was in love or not, it was a little too soon to tell.
He knew that if he had found out that she was a girl before he ended up actually seeing her as a girl, he would have probably kicked her off. The scene before they were actually on their way back to England played over in his mind. He had thought about sending her off with another ship, but he couldn't have been that cruel. He knew then that those men wouldn't keep their hands to themselves. Chris had made her stay on the ship, but locked her in her room. He felt bad for doing that, but he didn't know what else he was to do. He had walked in on her while she was attempting to make herself look boyish again. Chris didn't even think about it, he just turned angry. Part of him felt betrayed, but why? Sure, Andrea had lied but it was for good reasons.
While she had stayed at his family's residence, he had done what he could to prove to her that he was sorry without actually saying it. Andrea was holding him an arm's length away, and he wasn't sure what to do about that.
"Do you want to go in any of the clothing shops? Or anything like that?"

She turned an annoyed expression his way, he insisted upon intruding on her thoughts so she would vent some of her anger at him, "You already know that whatever I didn't spend that week wining and dining with you was stolen-" as a cabinboy and a sailor no one would have thought to steal from a little boy, but dressed up like a lady, she was only too easy a target, and she had been careless.
"The only other thing I can think of is you buying me clothes, or any other store we go into, and no I won't have it. Just because you're Christopher Montgomery, and you live in a castle, and you're richer than Croetus doesn't mean you can buy forgiveness."

"I wasn't asking to buy your forgiveness. I was just trying to be nice," he said pointedly. "And I don't care who I am, and I don't live in a castle. That's my brother's place, not mine." She was not going to ridicule him.
"And if you didn't want to go out today, you didn't have to agree with me and come along. If you didn't even want to be around me, then why did you even come to my brother's house in the first place?" Christopher tried to tell himself that he wasn't going to really argue with her, but sometimes she made it hard. "Plus, if you just want to keep wearing the same thing over and over again, feel free to. I won't stop in any kind of store except the book store, then we could just hurry back to the house."

He asked too many questions , well he had only really asked a few, but everything he said she wanted to contradict since she was already upset, she didn't know the answer to half of the things he was asking, but she latched on to one of them, "And where else was I supposed to go? You won't let me on your ship remember?!" she asked or rather huffed at him. He was afraid still that someone on the ship would recognize her and that she'd be in danger, it was a valid worry, but if she wasn't allowed on the ship which had been her home for the last few years, then where was she supposed to go? She couldn't possibly return to her actual home, Merlin.
Reminded of her inability to control her life she struck out in anger against him, " Go by yourself. I don't know why I agreed to go out with you in the first place." she said temper fully struck as she turned around to leave him.
Actually she agreed to go with him because she couldn't stand being in that Mausoleum any longer, she felt like an interloper and several stations below all of them, she wasn't really a lady any longer, she had served as a cabin boy for a very long time and a sailor longer than that, though it was her imagination she imagined they were all watching her every move wondering what she was doing there in their esteemed presence.

"Well I'm sorry if I had been worried that something might happen to you," he said. She was making everything hard. Christopher had forgotten that they were out in public. "As for letting you on my ship, you didn't even ask! I suppose you just assumed that I was going to let you stay there. I had even thought about it because I actually enjoyed having you there of course that would be before all that other stuff happened. You've been with me for several years and you got close to me. No one has even came close to becoming close to me other than Christine. Not even my brothers are really close to me. I thought maybe after this anger blew over that I would consider the possiblity of letting you back on!"
Christopher took in a slient deep breath. As she turned to leave, he reached out and took her arm gently. He held onto her, but didn't squeeze her arm. He wasn't going to hurt her. Looking at her face he could see the anger written in her eyes.
"Come on," he said with his voice a little more gentle. "We're going to get you something else to wear. You can't wear that all the time. I'm not doing this for forgiveness either." Christopher didn't want to see her angry nor did he want to feel it himself.

He was saying quite a few things that later she would analyze as for the moment she could only feel their charged energy. Indeed everyone else had disappeared, though they certainly weren't alone at the moment they were drawing a crowd. When she realized that she reddened and used Chris's bigger frame to hide herself almost.
She didn't know why the thought of being allowed back on the ship as his cabin boy disappointed her. Perhaps it was because she knew she couldn't just be his cabin boy and carry on as if nothing had changed, he knew who she was now there was no going back.
She sighed he had taken her arm and yet his grip wasn't that harsh and she was used to being tossed around. Still annoyed with him however, she wasn't giving in with grace, she wrenched her arm from him then dipped into a deep mocking curtsy, "As you wish my Lord. I wouldn't want my clothing to offend your sensibilities."

"Don't call me that," Chris said. He would not stand to be ridiculed in any way. "You do not work for me, nor are you any kind of servant girl. There is no need for any kind of curtsy." Anger started to be written on his face. He hated to be mocked. "Your clothing does not offend any sensibilities. I just thought that maybe you would like a few different things to change into since your other things were stolen." He was still unaware of anyone watching.
"I'm trying to be kind to you but apparently you don't like for anyone to be kind to you."
If he did let her back on the ship, he wouldn't have her fill the position of cabin boy. No, he would want her to continue to be who she was, not someone who she tried to be. He thought that she would possibly return with him to the ship as something more, but at the moment it looked like he was wrong.

"Stop being so high handed, you don't own me and you can't order me about. I'm not a doll you can dress up, or one of your women that you keep in lavish splendor, and I don't need you to buy me anything out of pity!" her pride was wounded in some ways, and as for the rest of her churlish behavior she simply needed an outlet and Christopher was there. She was shaking her finger at him and matching his stubbornness as probably no one ever had dared, certainly no one from his crew.

"I'm not ordering you about!" Christopher almost forgot his manners. "And for your information any other woman I have been with, I never bought anything! I'm not buying you anything out of pity! I never said anything about owning you either." If Andrea was going to argue with him, he was going to argue right back.
"You can be however you want to be. If you want to continue to wear that everyday, then so be it. I'll just pick up something for Christine and Sam."

Andrea took a deep breath, she was moments away from blasting into him, telling him not to yell at her while she was perfectly aware that she was yelling at him, she had her entire tirade in her head, and Merlin she hadn't felt so good in a long while just arguing with him, though she wasn't aware of that, no she was only aware of what angry things she was about to say, when suddenly a figure popped up in the allyway, not walking toward them in fact didn't even appear to notice them unlike the others around them, but that figure, that ridiculous sense of fashion and the unmistakable face completely robbed her of speech.
All the color seemed to drain from her face and while she and Christopher had been nose to nose arguing she took the infantesimal step toward him to where their bodies were flush, her hands quickly gripped his sleeves and she held herself there, half hiding half like a child clenching their parent for protection, "Take me home Chris..." she whispered. She was trembling so hard as if she were experiencing her own private earthquake. She was terrified and her hands gripped harder.
Suddenly her eyes shot up to Christopher's with tears lightly sheening glossing over the stark terror written in her expression, "Please!"

He was waiting for Andrea to just start yelling at him, but that moment wasn't coming. As quick as her anger had came to her face, it was replaced with fear. Christopher was a little shocked when their bodies were flush. He looked down at her with a questionable look on his face.
Christopher gave a look around them, unsure as to what made her go from angry to afraid in point two seconds. Looking back to her he couldn't be angry any more, not when she was trembling in front of him.
"Okay, okay," he said softly. Whatever this was, he was going to protect her. "Just calm down alright? Just let go of my sleeves and we'll go, promise."

Her breathing was rapid as if she couldn't get enough oxygen and yet her lungs were full, she was in danger of hyperventilating but she was in much more danger than that. When he started speaking calmly to her she swallowed and tried to hold on to that captain's voice. Later she would feel like such a ninny, but at the moment she felt like a little girl, a frightened little girl.
She didn't want to let go of him, and hesitated in doing so, finally, reluctantly, she released him and still trembling turned to walk with him.

Once she left his sleeves go, Christopher felt the need to put his arm around her. He knew that she was still frightened and he wanted her to know that he was still there. "Alright let's get going, hm?"
Christopher started to lead her in the way they came in. "Do you want to tell me what had you frightened or is that just something you want to keep to yourself?" Of course she was entitled to keep the information to herself, but if she wanted to tell him he would listen.

She didn't say anything, simply clenched onto his proffered shelter hiding her face in his side. She hated this weakness in her but she couldn't help it.
She let him guide her and didn't speak a word until they were safely ensconsed in the castle once more.
By then she had time to sort through her thoughts and she was feeling embarassed, bust still vaguely worried.

He didn't mind that she wanted to turn to him for some kind of protection. She could have just ran off, but it did make Chris feel better that she wanted him to keep her from whatever it was that scared her.
Christopher lead her into the house and away from anyone that would have been in there. He took her to the library and took a seat, only to pull her down with him. His arm was still around her and he held her close to him. He was going to remain quiet until she spoke up.

It would be a while before she spoke. The shock had worn off but not the consequences, her head was spinning, what was her uncle doing in London? They of course had a town home but they should have been at the country estate this time of year, she thought she was safe from him at least for a little while until she decided she wanted to confront him. Now he was here, and she didn't know what to do.
She shivered in his arms. She would never be able to tell him how much she appreciated his being there for her, but at the moment her body did the talking, as it relaxed and simply let her feel safe in his arms.
