News traveled fast in the wizarding world. Brady just stepped into the Leaky Cauldron and picked up a copy of the Daily Prophet. Word of the murder of Roland Ferrera was being murmured at a table as Brady walked by. He opened the Prophet and started to scan the articles.
He always came into the Leaky Cauldron in the morning time, even on weekends. Brady wasn't one to really sleep in even on his days off. Coffee was set in front of him without having to ask for it. Sitting realized in his chair, he picked up the cup of coffee and took a small sip of the hot liquid.
Even thought today was his day off, he thought that it could be a long day.

June was working and had been sent out to collect a portkey that no one had utilized. She hated when they were set up and forgotten about, because then she had to worry about some unsuspecting soul picking it up, thinking it was just an object. Luckily, this one was in a place that mostly wizards frequented.
She stepped inside the leaky couldron and made her way to the bar, standing fairly close to Brady as the guy behind the bar turned to her. She explained why she was there, and he nodded, telling her to wait a minute, and disappeared into the back.
June pressed her lips together, but looked around, and her eyes landed on the man a seat or two away. She smiled. "Hi."

Adding just a small bit of sugar to the coffee, Brady continue to read a random article in the Prophet. Most of the time he shook his head at the contents of the paper, but he felt the need to keep himself updated as to what the Prophet was saying about what was going on.
Just as he finished reading an article, he put the paper down on the counter. At the same time, a voice beside him filled his ears and he turned to look at the voice's owner as he picked up his coffee cup. "Hi," Brady responded back with a light smile.

When he responded fairly warmly, June smiled brightly. She really had a pretty smile when she wanted to show it off.
She held out her hand. "I'm June. I've seen you around the Ministry. If I had to guess... I'd say you're an Auror. Am I right?" Starting a conversation was never that difficult for her either. She liked people. They made her feel not so alone most the time. Besides, this guy just had a friendly look in his eye, and she liked him immidiately.

Brady wasn't exactly expecting a conversation today. He usually walked in got his cup of coffee, read the Daily Prophet and went out about whatever he needed to do. Maybe today he could do things a little differently.
"Brady," he said sticking his hand out and shaking hers. "Nice to meet you." As she guessed auror, he shook his head. "No, I'm not an Auror." Another light smile was on his face. "I'm MLE. But good guess. I've seen you too, but it was just passing. Which department are you in?"

June frowned, but her eyes still sparkled with a smile. "I was so close, too," she said with a little laugh and finally sat down on the stool next to him. "At least I didn't guess Misuse of Muggle Artifacts, right?"
The guy behind the counter came back and told her it would be another minute, so she asked for a cup of tea, three sugars and cream before turning her attention back to Brady. "I work in the Portkey office."

"Exactly. I do have to give you credit for that," he said with a small laugh.
"Portkey office? That's interesting." He never remembered seeing her in there before, but maybe his timing had been off. Brady's coffee was refilled as June's tea was sat in front of her. "So, you like a lot of sugar," he asked with a hint of amusement. He was never a sweets type of guy.

June took a sip of her tea as he commented on the amount of sugar, and she turned her bright smile on him again.
"It's the reason I'm so sweet," she said, feigning being serious and then laughed to show she was just joking. She was in a good mood today and it made her bubbly.
"But that makes me have to think that you like your coffee black, or close to it." She liked making guesses about people. She wasn't often wrong.

This time Brady really laughed. "You know, its always the sweet ones you have to watch out for," he said in a joking manner. Usually, he wouldn't have continued on with a conversation for too long, but this girl seemed pleasant enough.
"Good job. I do like my coffee black. Sometimes I like to add just a small bit of sugar to it, but not much. I've never been one for a lot of sugary things," he said with a shrug.

"Oh, then I'm afraid you and I just wouldn't get along at all." June teased, taking another sip of her tea. "And the sweet ones always end up being the most venemous. It's because people let us get away with anything." She nodded as if this asserted her fact.
Leaning her elbows against the counter and sighed. "It's really too nice of a day out to be couped up in the office, isn't it? London surprises you with the occasional warm day in winter."

"Exactly, that's the reason the sweet ones are always the one you have to watch out for. They try to pull the wool over your eyes and then get you when you least suspect it." He smiled.
"I actually have the day off unless they call for me to come in for something or another," said Brady. "But I do agree, it feels nice outside already. I like it whenever its warmer. I don't really care to much when its freezing outside."

"Oh, aren't you lucky?"
What June wouldn't give for a day off. Even the days she did have off, she could never really relax.
So it was his day off and he was enjoying a cup of coffee out, which meant he was a morning person. She always admired morning people, as she usually had to work at being in a good mood that early. Her thought was that if whatever god wanted her up that early, he would have made it later in the day.
"I like the cold. But I like warm weather too." She shrugged. "I guess it just depends on my mood."

"Well, knowing me I'll probably be in the office before the day is over with," Brady said with a laugh. He didn't have anyone around to keep him home for long. As soon as he finished with what he had to do, he would usually go to work, just to have something to do.
"Yeah, I suppose it depends your mood, but I usually like the warm weather, even if I am in a bad mood. Although, you seem like you're in a good mood often."

June nodded. "Oh, okay. I'm beginning to get a pretty good idea what kind of guy you are. Not quite a work-a-holic, but it keeps you busy. Which must also mean that you're single, since I don't know a girl alive that would let you work extra hours like that." She smiled and shrugged. She didn't really let that many people know what she thought of them, but he seemed like he could handle it. Besides, he was making judgements on her personality as well.
"I am always in a good mood," she replied. "Life's too short to go through it angry, right?"

His eyebrows raised as she was trying to figure him out. "Am I that easy to read," he asked interested and amusingly. Brady never had a girl, or anyone for that matter, just blurt out what 'kind of guy he was'.
"But you're right. I like to be kept busy. If I just sit around with nothing to do, I get restless and I have to have something to do. So work is a good option for me." Brady hadn't really had a girlfriend since he was in school. For the time being he didn't get into relationships and because he always kept busy he didn't really meet a whole lot of girls. At the mention of her not knowing a girl alive that would let him work overtime, Brady felt his ears warm over.
"I suppose life is too short to go through it angry, but sometimes you can't help it."

"Nah," June said, shaking her head. "I'm just really good at reading people." Some of the people in the office just passed over her, thinking there wasn't much depth to her. It was for that reason that she was able to learn to read people so well. They were a little unguarded around her, and she was able to pick up on what little habits meant.
His blush when she mentioned being single made her smile and assume she had been correct, so she bit her lip and let the topic go.
"I guess you can't help it. I try to laugh instead of being angry... but sometimes that just makes people angrier."

"That could make people angrier, that's true. But I suppose its better to laugh all the time and know when to be serious rather than just being angry." Brady didn't really have anyone around him to make him laugh or smile. Maybe he should buy a pet, maybe a dog. That could help him stay home. Maybe he would go do that today instead of actually going in and working on a day off. Plus, it would be a way of keeping him company and he wouldn't be so lonely.
He always kept people from getting to close to him to. Brady was always scared that something bad would happen to them, like his parents. Even though it had been years, he still thought about it.
"Its nice to know someone likes to have an optimistic view of what is going on around them."

"Kind of born out of necessity. Too many bad things happened, and being in a good mood is just how I learned to deal."
She shrugged. "That first bit... that's true for everybody. We all just find different ways of coping." She probably learned hers from her father. She knew things were hard on him, especially raising her by himself, but he never let her know if he was in a bad mood. It sort of made him a hero to her.
"Well, if you'd like to get to know someone like that better," she said, giving him a coy look. "You know where to find me." Sure, she had a boyfriend. It didn't mean she wasn't allowed to make friends.

That was Brady's problem. He never really learned how to cope. No one taught him how so he always keep it inside and that did hurt him more than anything. He usually put on a neutral face so people couldn't really see what he was feeling, but for right now he was alright with showing he was in a good mood. After all, he couldn't just go to a neutral face after June made him laugh.
Get to know her better? As in friends? Brady wasn't sure about that, but he found himself nodding. "I may take you up on that offer," he said. Maybe if he stepped out of what he normally did, he could be a little different although Brady wasn't sure if he really wanted different or not. "And you know where I am too."

Well, that was a return invitation if she ever heard one, and it made her smile. Though, granted, the girl rarely ever stopped smiling. "I'm probably definitely going to take you up on that offer," she told him.
She she sat there, she lined her spoon up with the handle on her mug of tea, and had them both at a 90* angle from her. It was taking all of her will not to reach out and straighten the bottles and napkin holders on the counter, but she didn't want him to see how obsessed she could be.
