He wouldn't mind speaking with June at work. Sometimes there were times when things were extremely slow and he needed something to keep him busy. It was just natural for him to keep busy. Brady wouldn't know what to do with himself if he didn't have a job that he could go to when he didn't have anything else to do.
As June moved her spoon, it caught Brady's eye and he looked at her. He didn't make a comment about it because he didn't want her to feel uncomfortable. Brady folded the copy of the Daily Prophet like it had been and then took a drink of coffee. "So June," Brady said, "since you have figured me out a little, I believe that its my turn." He smiled and then continued to look directly at her. "You have a naturally bubbly attitude when quite honestly is contagious I believe. You're friendly and there is no way in the world that you're single. Am I close?"

"Uh oh," June said when he turned the tables on her, and she bit her lip a little flirtatiously. In actuality, she thought this part was fun. She loved hearing what other people came up with, and she turned her body to face him.
"Wrong on all accounts," she teased him. "I'm really quite grumpy and vicious, I yell at people every chance I get, and I'm a spinster with 30 cats." She nodded then laughed. "No, I'm kidding. I've been called bubbly before, I like to think I'm friendly, and..."
She wondered if he would just stop talking to her when she admitted she had a boyfriend. She hated when guys did that. "And I'm 50% single."

"Well, I suppose that you are waiting to turn that grumpiness on me later or something? And yell at me while you tell your cats to come after me," Brady said jokingly.
"Although on a serious note, you are quite friendly. I've never had anyone just to look at me and say 'Hi' before. I guess I have one of those signs above my head that says 'leave me alone' or something like that. I suppose you just ignored it, or I must have left it back at my apartment." Brady grinned. "I have to say though, I have enjoyed this morning so far."
Hearing that she was 50% single, Brady raised an eyebrow. "50% single?"

"Oh, I just ignored the sign," June said. "I never follow the rules."
He was complimenting her, and she liked it. "Well, thank you. I've enjoyed this morning too. Most of the time, when I say hi to people, they give me a dirty look and ignore me. Which means, actually, that you're pretty friendly yourself."
She let go of her tea and sat up straighter. "50% single means that I do have a boyfriend, and I love him dearly, but that I'm enjoying your company and I don't want that to scare you away."

"Never following the rules, I have to say I like that," he said with a laugh.
Brady never considered himself to be friendly. "Well, thank you. I've never really been called friendly before. But I guess that sign scares other people away. You're just different and like I said before your bubbly personality is contagous."
He paused for a moment to take another drink of coffee. "Why would the news of a boyfriend scare me away? If that is what you're iffy about, don't worry. You having a boyfriend is not going to make me run away. I don't scare that easily." Brady smiled. "Besides we're somewhat friends in a way now, right? So what would having a boyfriend matter?"

June smiled and then her smile widened to a grin.
"I guess we are somewhat friends now," she agreed, and then shrugged to explain herself to him. "I'm just used to a lot of guys not talking to me when they find out I have a boyfriend. It's not a big deal, but I tend not to tell people I'm involved right away. I'm glad it doesn't scare you off."

"Like I said I don't scare easily," he said. "I suppose the other guys you meet are just looking for something special." Brady gave a shrug. He didn't ever think about going after girls for that 'something'. Usually, he was too busy to really talk to anyone other than those around him.
"I don't think its a big deal if your dating someone or not. I mean, he's not going to just come out of the shadows and attempt to beat me up just because I'm talking to you, is he," Brady asked raising his eyebrow in question.

"Merlin, I certainly hope not. How terrinly embarassing would that be?" June asked, and laughed after.
She liked Brady. He was warm and friendly, and made for good conversation while the neglected Portkey was taking who knew how long to locate. She was going to have to deactivate it when they did find it, though they should just let her do her job.
She sighed and put her chin in her hand. "And I suppose they are. So, MLE. What made you decide to get into that?"

"There's a question I haven't been asked in a long time," he said putting down his coffee cup. Brady's face darkened just slightly. "I decided that I wanted to be MLE when I was fifteen," he stated. "Going after the bad guys is something that helps me get through the day. Being able to know that there's one less bad person out there that could hurt people and being the one that gets them, that's really why I joined."
He really decided to join because of his mother's death. She was in a car accident and it was pretty much a hit and run. The muggle cops never did catch the one that caused the accident.

"Fifteen," June repeated, and rested her chin in her hand. Her arm bumbled the spoon in her mug, and she quikly lined it up with the handle again.
"So what happened when you were 15?" It was much to specific an age to just occur to him to join the MLE. "Or, I'm sorry. That's probably way to personal. I was just curious. You don't have to answer.

Brady tensed slightly as she asked what happened. No one ever asked what happened. He cleared his throat. "No, no, its alright," Brady said. "No one has asked me that, but anyway, it was because of my mum." He took a sip of coffee. "She was in a car accident that ended up being sort of like a hit and run accident. The muggle law enforcement never caught the ones that killed her."
He gave her a gentle look. "Because of that, I decided to become MLE to try to help people. I thought about joining the muggle law enforcement, but I figured that since I was a wizard, I might as well not let my magic go to waste."

"Oh," June said, wondering if she shouldn't have asked. Still, he went ahead and told her, so it couldn't have been too terrible of her, right? "Oh, I'm so sorry."
To have your parents', even one of them, taken away at such a young age... she couldn't imagine. Her mother died when she was two... too young to remember the woman, and so she didn't think it was as cruel. Except, of course, to her father.
"Well, at least you turned it into something positive, right? I think being an MLE officer is a noble thing."

"It's alright," he said. "It happened awhile back." Not to terribly long after his mother died, his father followed after her, but that was right after graduation.
"And I suppose I've turned into something positive." Brady gave her a smile. "I haven't gone off the deep end yet, so I guess I'm alright." He finished off his coffee. "What about you? Why the port-key office?"

"You seem perfectly sane to me," June said with an affirmative little nod. She was still smiling, and sighed slightly when he turned the question on her. She took a sip of her tea. She wished she had a noble story like his, or something exciting to share, but she really didn't.
"I guess, since you were so honest with your answer, I should be with mine as well. It's actually rather dull. I didn't really know what I wanted to do, and a friend of mine told me they needed help in the Portkey Office... as it turned out, it was a job I could handle easily, so I took it, and I've been there ever since."

"Yes, the ministry did need help in the Portkey office. The older lady that is usually in there had been extremely cranky all the time. It was near impossible to get a portkey from her sometimes." Brady shook his head. "At least I know now that I have someone pleasant that I can speak to whenever I need a portkey."
He smiled. "At least its a job that you don't really mind doing. I'm not sure if I could always just sit around and do nothing. I sort of have a problem with just being still, unless I have to."

June raised her eyebrows. "Pardon? Sit around and do 'nothing,' did you say?" She was teasing him... or at least, she was half teasing him. Yes, she sat behind a desk for the better part of her day, but she did work. And if he tried to argue that she didn't, she'd have one hell of a debate with him.
"I don't mind sitting still at work. It gives me more energy to be up and excited when I go out with others. But no, I don't mind my job. In fact, I rather like it. Tell me I do nothing again though, and your next portkey will take you to Madesgascar."

"I didn't mean that you do nothing," he said trying to explain what he meant. "I meant like sitting at home and doing nothing. I couldn't do that. I couldn't just have a desk job either. That's what I meant. I didn't mean that you do nothing, because I know that you do work. You seem the type to." Brady rubbed the back of his neck and knew his face was hot. He didn't mean to imply anything about her.
"Although I do admire those that can sit still, even if I don't really see how you do it. The only time I am really still is when I'm about to go to sleep. While I'm awake I have to be moving something."

June smiled. "Relax, Mr. Ferris. I know you didn't mean anything by it." She took another sip of her tea, and while she was enjoying Brady's company, she wondered what could possibly be taking so long.
"I used to have a hard time sitting still, but the professors at Beauxbatons always tried to enforce perfect posture and all that... Going to a school mostly made up of Veela teaches you how to act properly, that's for certain."

Brady gave her a relieved smile. He wouldn't have known what he would have done if she didn't understand.
"I don't think there would be anyway in the world I could sit still, unless it was for something I had to do. Although, I do have to congratulate you on that." He gave her one of his widest quick smiles. "I would not have been able to pass anything like that I don't believe. However on the manners, I could pass on that one."

"You think so?" June teased, looking at him as if considering his manners. "I bet you could."
He was a nice, soft spoken kind of guy. She could tell he was the type of guy who wanted everyone to be happy or comfortable in any given situation, and she suspected that he was also the kind of guy who opened doors for a girl.
She looked behind the bar again. "For Merlin's sake, it's one portkey. What is taking them so long?"
