Tonight, Bailey was thinking about playing a few songs at Stu's. Stu liked to have Karaoke every once in awhile. Bailey didn't think himself that much of a singer, but for the small group that was in Stu's he didn't mind it. Half the time the people in there seemed to ignore him anyway. Playing his guitar just seemed to give him a little bit more practice other than just playing in his apartment.
He walked in Stu's with his guitar on his back and walked up to the bar. Maybe he needed something to help his nerves a little bit. Bailey learned that he had a high alcohol tolerance, but he still didn't like to drink that much. There was no one that could help him home, so he had to be alright to get himself home.
"Give me just about anything to drink. Just surprise me."

"Those are dangerous words in this bar, Stranger," Nathalia said lightly, her smile warm and welcoming. "Are you looking to get drunk... or just feel a little at ease?" She asked, nodding to the guitar on his back.
It was odd to see someone willingly come into Stu's to perform, so she hoped he was at least better than the 40 something drunks who liked to hit on her afterwards. A little talent would be nice to see.

Bailey laughed softly. "I don't ever drink to the point where I'm too drunk to do anything. Just give me something not extremely strong, but not too weak either." He preferred his drinks to be in between. The drink was just to ease his nerves, even if he was going to be playing in front of a bar of several drunks.
He didn't sing that often, but tonight was going to one of the nights he did. Bailey was debating in his head which songs he should play and which ones he shouldn't. He had a few current hits in mind, but he thought about throwing one of his own in there.

"Dedicate a song to me, and your first drink's on the house," Nathalia said, raising her eyebrows playfully as she started to get him a drink. Really, she gave away so many drinks, but she nearly doubled the customers they had since she started working. She could probably get away with anything in this bar. It helped that Stu liked her.
A moment later, she slid the drink to him. "Not too strong, not too weak. Enjoy it."

"Dedicate a song to you? I think I can manage that. Have any special requests you want me to play?" Bailey smiled and watched her make his drink. Sometimes he would take special requests, but majority of the time he played what he wanted to.
He picked up his drink after she slid it to him, taking a drink out of it. It didn't have the strong burn, but he could feel it as it went down. "Thanks miss," he said politely. "I promise that whenever I go up there, I'll do my best not to hurt your ears with singing." There was a teasing to his voice.

"My special request is whatever song you have that's the most upbeat," Nathalia replied easily. She was in an upbeat kind of mood, and maybe he could oblige.
"My name's Nathalia," she said, dismissing the polite 'miss.' "And trust me... I bet you're pretty good. At least compared to what I'm used to hearing. You even came prepared." She pointed to his guitar and smiled. "So prove me wrong and show me there's some talent left in the world."

"I think I can do that," he said with a smile. "I've been thinking of playing a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival and maybe the Beatles. Of course it will not be as good as they are, but it will be my acoustic version." Bailey could play guitar, drums, and piano, but guitar and piano were his strongest points. "I might throw in a song of my own."
He took a drink from his glass. "Its nice to meet you Nathalia." Bailey was still being polite. "I'm Bailey. And thanks for the confidence." He gave a laugh. "My guitar is usually with me anyway. I'll do my best to prove you wrong."

Marina walked lightly into the bar, rubbing her temple from another demanding day at the press office. Deadlines were approaching, and her article couldn't be finished without another justified source. She needed to take a break before going home to Roy. She sat at the bar, leaning on her hand, waiting for the bar tender.
Nathalia was speaking with a guy she had seen a few times, but not enough to truly form any opinions about him. Marina wasn't even sure of his name. She slid over a seat, and sat politely. Marina's pet peeve was when people interupted, and she was not hypocritical.

Someone else walked up and Bailey turned to look at them. His eyes widened slightly. Bailey had a great memory and he did remember the girl's name. During school, he had a crush on her, but of course he wasn't the type to just walk up to a girl and say 'hey, I like you'.
Nearly fumbling with his drink, it wasn't bad enough to really cause attention, Bailey finished off his drink and looked to Nathalia. "I guess I'll get s-set up," he said looking at to her. Moving from the stool, Bailey walked over to a chair where people usually sung and started to take out his guitar as he started to set up.

Marina quirked her head to the side, and furrowed her brow. The guy she was going to talk to had just got up and walked away after catching her eye. She hadn't gotten to say anything, or introduce herself. She shot Nathalia a confused glance, and stood up. Maybe she had done something wrong to him, and Marina was just a bad memory in his mind. Marina didn't want anyone to think badly of her.
Marina walked over to the chair where the man was and smiled at him, "Hey, I'm Marina. Are you tonight's entertainment?"

Marina hadn't done anything wrong at all. It was Bailey that grew slightly nervous, but it was ridiculous. He was out of school and those school boy phases shouldn't have hit him anymore, but they did.
He wasn't expecting the girl to walk up to him. As he was trying to find his guitar pick before he pulled out his guitar, he froze and looked up. "H-Hi," he said. Should he have said that he knew who she was? "And I know who you are. Y-you probably don't remember me at all, but I'm," he froze for a moment. What was his name again? Oh, this was slightly embarrassing. It started with a B, right?
"Bailey," he said clearing his throat. "I'm Bailey." She probably already thought that he was some kind of idiot, but he let a smile cross his face nevertheless. "And I'm going to attempt to be entertainment."

"Bailey Stone!" Marina threw her arms around him for a second, befre stepping back to look at him, "Yes! Of course! I would never have recognized you, it's been so long!" She took a step back and studied his guitar before giving him a huge smile. "I think you'll be a lot better entertainment then anyone else in thsi bar. You look like a musician. I can just tell."
Marina couldn't believe she didn't recognize Bailey, of all people. Bailey had been one of those boys she would run around on the playground as a child, and he always had the prettiest hair, Marina was jealous. She had even had the small, school girl crush. It had been a while since she had seen anyone from her old school, before Roy and herself weer taken out.

His cheeks were hot as fire as she hugged him. Bailey awkwardly hugged her back and his smile grew bigger. "It has been awhile. You still look the same, except all grown up and prettier, not that you weren't pretty then," Bailey let that trail off stratching the back of his neck. "It's good to see you again."
He pulled his guitar out of the case and rested it on his lap. "Thanks Marina, and I do try. I've been playing guitar for awhile as well as a couple other instruments, so I don't think its really my actual playing that I'm worried about. Its pretty much singing. I don't usually sing in front of people, but I thought 'hey, no one really comes here that would be that judgemental, except maybe the drunks'." He let the smile that was faintly on his face as he spoke grow.

"I could say the same for you, all grown up," Marina laughed good naturedly. "Of course, you look very handsome." She smiled at the compliment. It meant more to her when someone looked as if they meant it, and Bailey seemed so sincere about everything. Of course, she wasnt lying about the handsome comment, either. He had filled out really nicely.
"Really?" Marina always admired people who played more then one instrument. "I could never touch one, lest I break someone's ears off. I think your voice will do great with the guitar, you've been playing while, right? Roy once said that if you know your guitar well enough, you can harmonize perfectly. I'll tell you exactly what I think, alright?"

Was it possible to be ten different shades at one time? Bailey probably proved that someone could. "Thank you," he said somewhat shyly. He never really thought about his looks, but it was nice to hear someone compliment, even if the night could end up being embarrassing. Knowing Bailey, it would probably end up that way, considering he was never 'smooth', for lack of better word, around girls that he liked, even if he did like Marina a while back.
"That would be nice," he said. "I would trust your opinion better than those guys over there." Bailey let out a laugh. Roy. He remembered him a little. "Speaking of Roy, how is your brother?"

Marina fought back her own blush as she saw Bailey turn a slight shade of pink. It was so endearing, and Marina wished all guys were as kind as Bailey was. He gave her hope for the rest of the world.
"Drunkards aren't nessecarily qualified critics," Marina laughed. But that turned into a small frown as Bailey mentioned her brother. He was becoming more and more depressed, spending less time playing guitar, and more time sitting by himself and thinking. The only people he seemed to talk to were herself and Caitlin. It worried Marina to no avail. "He's, well, not as well as I'd like him to be. I wish he'd come with me, but he's just sitting at home, I assume."

Seeing Marina frown made Bailey feel bad for asking. "Maybe he'll get better than what he is. It usually just takes time and a little help or push to get going again." He gave her an encouraging smile.
He decided to change topics. "So Ms. Evangeline, do you have any special requests for me to play tonight? I can play anything from Credence Clearwater Revival, to the Stones. I've even been thinking about playing one of my own, just to see what people think about it."

"Oh, I hope he'll get up soon. You're probably right," Marina shrugged, and wiped the frown off her face. Roy would come around eventually. He had his downs and ups.
"You write your own songs?" Marina's eyes went wide. "That's pure talent. I'd love it, Mr. Stone, if you'd play a song you've written of your own accord. That's what this world needs, more shown talent. And I'll give you my honest opinion, journalist's honour!" She laughed.

"Yeah, I write them from time to time." He had even written a song about how he had a schoolboy crush on her when they were little. The song even included the time when she left. Bailey wasn't sure if he wanted to sing that one or not, but that would just depend on how well things were going. Naturally, he didn't think that Marina understand what the song was really about at first, but he didn't want to just scare her away. That song would probably be on the backburner for a while.
A smile crossed Bailey's face. "Thanks Ms. Evangeline," he said. "I think the only opinions that I trust in here would be yours and Nat's." Bailey laughed. An idea crossed his mind and his laughter quieted down as an almost shy look appeared on his face. "May-maybe one day you could read over a few songs and tell me what you think of those too."

"The lyrics and the music as well?" Marina asked. "I always have trouble with lyrics, I think my own words ruin the music. But I have this feeling that you have a knack for it. And I hope to get the proof tonight."
"Read them over?" Marina blinked. One day meant not today, and they would meet up later. "Of course! One day soon, maybe? I've just been cooped up in the office and I'd love to get out and talk with someone who I have personal connections to before I start writing on them." Bailey was just the kind of person Marina always loved, somewhat introverted, but kind and the fact that he was musically inclined made her all the happier. She pushed out any thoughts of it being more then a friendhsip out of her head before they got in too deep. Marina didn't want to ruin anything quite yet.
