"I-is that a compliment Ms. Evangeline?" Bailey felt himself start to get a little nervous, but he plastered the grin that had been appearing back on his face. "As for your guess, it is correct." His guitar was his most important possession. He had learned to really play on that guitar. It was sort of old, but he didn't care. The guitar still played good and that was all that mattered.
Bailey stuck out his hand. "A challenge it is Marina." For a moment, he looked away shyly, then looked back to her. "A-and if you do well at the challenge, I'll think of something to reward you."

"Why, yes, it is," Marina smiled graciously at him. "And of course, it's easy to tell that you take excellent care of it." She was studying the guitar with a small smile on her face. "It's great to have a passion. It's something you can always turn to. I really can't wait to hear you play something. You must play beautifully."
"A reward," Marina was thoughtful. "Then in that case, I'll try even harder. It's a lot more fun when you have something to look forward to in the end besides your own good feelings. I'm sure that sounds slightly selfish, but you understand, don't you?" Marina laughed at herself.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Bailey was looking forward to his challenge with Marina. He could get through it without making a huge fool of himself. Right? Hopefully he wouldn't freeze up and do the thing that he feared he would. There wasn't anything huge to this challenge with Marina. She was just a girl, a girl who he used to have a crush on. That's it. She wasn't a fire breathing dragon who wanted to chase him down.
"I'll have to get a little creative with this reward thing." He smiled. "What song shall I play first?"
