Edward was at least happy to hear one of his younger brother's voice. He had been informed that Christopher had brought a guest but still was slightly skeptical of what kind of "guest" they had in their midst. But Andrea surprised him by being somewhat exquisite herself. Not Christopher's usual lady love, there was something wizened and noble in her eyes, not that Edward was too eager to have more guests than necessary at this somewhat solemn affair, but he couldn't see the harm in getting to know the girl, provided that Christopher intended to get serious with someone finally.
"Well Hello Chris. Glad you could make it home. Who's this?"

"I thought I would pull off a surprise and be here for Christmas." A smile was still on his face. The main reason why Christopher was home for Christmas was for Christine. He knew that he would never be forgiven if he didn't come home for Christmas with her home now.
At Edward's question, Christopher's smile brightened. "This," he said making sure that Andrea could be seen, "is Andrea." He looked down at her and motioned to each of his brothers. "Andrea, these are two of my brothers, Edward and James."

It took a bit of concentration but she managed to close her mouth and execute a curtsy worthy of her station taking Edward a bit by surprise.
She couldn't read his expression because he wore a mask of congeniality although some of the lines around his mouth seemed to disappear.
Little did she know that he was indeed happily surprised that Christopher had brought home a lady, not that he thought Christopher would bring home anything else, but who knew, he might have done it just to rub his rebellion in.
"It's a pleasure." she told them both.

If Alison hadn't had a lot of practice with portkeys, she would have landed on the ground with a thud, just like the first time she ever used one. She let go when he told her to and she landed gracefully on the ground beside him. "That was much better than the first time I ever used one of those things," she said with a laugh. Of course since then she had a lot of practice with portkeys. Alison was starting to feel slightly nervous about meeting his family. So many questions popped into her mind, but she pushed them away so that they wouldn't cloud her mind. Instinctively, Alison held onto Geoffrey's hand in an attempt to stop being nervous. Geoffrey could see that she was nervous, and he squeezed her hand. "It's going to be OK," he said. "I promise, they don't bite. They can ab a bit outspoken, but they're going to love you, I'm sure of it." He stepped onto the porch and pushed the front door open. "Here goes nothing," he said, winking at her as they entered the house.

She wasn't sure what she should expect from his family, but she was going to hope that they didn't dislike her. Alison wasn't sure what she would do if they did dislike her, considering she hadn't met anyone else's parents, with the exception of a few friends during the time she was in school.
Taking a deep breath, Alison nodded. She reached up and tucked a stray hair behind her ear that didn't fit back in her pony tail. Entering the house, she tried to calm her own nerves. Looking around, Alison was amazed at how beautiful the inside was. A light smile appeared on her face as she looked up to Geoffrey.

Geoffrey led her into the living room, where the rest of the family had gathered. Seeing the whole family gathered together like that, Geoffrey was amazed that Alison wasn't running away. They were rather an intimidating lot when gathered all together like this.
"Mum, Dad," he said, greeting them. "Sorry I'm late. I'd like you both to meet someone. This is my... uh... This is Alison."

Intimidating? That could be a way to describe what the Montgomery family looked like all gathered together like they were. She couldn't show that she was slightly intimidated. Tonight she couldn't turn really shy in front of them. She couldn't close up.
As Geoffrey spoke, Alison wasn't really paying attention to what he was saying. She was glancing over his family. It had always been either just her and her grandmother. Sometimes it would be where her parents would join them, or it would be just her and her parents. Never did she really have any uncles, or cousins that she could really talk to and she did envy him for that.
The only thing that Alison heard from Geoffrey was her name and she automatically smiled at the people in the room. "Hi," she said not quite sure what else she should say.

Andrea shuffled from side to side before straightening her frame, she was not intimidated by this family. Oh like hell, she was scared to death, but she at least had enough guts to pretend that she wasn't.
Startled by the new voice she turned to see Geoffrey approach with another girl, and was mildly relieved, no one was really talking and now at least there was a new distraction.

Edward didn't mean to be silent, or intimidating, although he supposed he couldn't really help it seeing as how he was nervous tonight, it being his daughter's first Christmas with them. He wanted everything to run smoothly, and a new guest at the table was different than his plans, not a bad different, just a different, actually he was still weighing whether or not it was a good different or a bad different, when Geoffrey appeared...with another "different" in toe.
"Well now. " he smiled politely and nodded to his nephew and then to the girl, "Who's this?"
When Geoffrey volunteered the information Edward had to smile at least a little, the boy wasn't likely to bring someone who wasn't special to him, and yet Geoffrey was young enough that he probably didn't know or didn't know how to at least say that Alison was someone who was important to him.
Edward decided then that the more the merrier, assuming that the more were bringing merriness to those he loved.
"It's a pleasure Alison."

Lillian had also come into the room, just before her son arrived with Alison. She went to James' side and was about to ask about the young lady that Christopher had brought with him before her son appeared with a young lady and her attention was immediatly diverted. Unlike her sister, she was very much unwilling to see her son married, well perhaps that was because of the differences in age, Geoffrey was younger than Roland and therefore in Lillian's eyes at least Geoffrey was a baby and she wasn't yet ready to lose her position as number 1-2 female in his heart.
"Hello." she replied kindly enough however, she would never do or say anything that would indicate her unease, except to her husband whose hand she squeezed lightly.

Geoffrey was blissfully unaware of his mother's line of thinking. After all, he had only just started seeing Alison and was very far from thinking about marriage. If he had known that his mother was uneasy about it, he would have reassured her, but he might have also been a little freaked out.
Squeezing Alison's hand lightly, he continued, "Alison works at the Ministry. She's in the Department for Magical Accidents and Catastrophes."

The room suddenly got quiet after polite introductions were made, and Andrea hated it, but her natural tendency was to inspire harmony. She was sorely tempted to say something or to do something but most of the people in the room intimidated her completely. She took a deep breath before opening her mouth to speak but Edward cut her off.

"Well I'll have the elves set more place settings down for our guests." he nodded to an elf directing him to do just that.
Edward also quite in tune with the somewhat tense atmosphere decided to break it. He looked between the two girls again but his gaze settled on Andrea for three reasons. The first being that she arrived first and therefore had the priviledge of being "interrogated" first, secondly Edward was more concerned with the woman that his brother would bring home (knowing his brother's reputation) rather than the girl his nephew brought with him who also worked with him, and third, he imagined Lillian would have enough questions for Alison to last a lifetime.
"So, Miss...I'm sorry, I didn't hear your last name." he said expecting to hear it then.
