Edward made his steps brisk on the way to the dining hall. He w as early and there shouldn’t have been anyone there yet, he merely wanted to make sure the preparations were perfect. This was the first Christmas he had Samantha home in so long he wanted everything to be perfect. He was a little anxious and he hoped that his brothers would be there.
It wouldn’t take much for Christopher to apparate away for the night if he possibly could, and Anthony…well Anthony would or wouldn’t be there. Edward was realizing though he hated it, he didn’t really have much control over his errant younger brother. James however he could always count on and at least there was that.
As for the rest of the family, his wife, James’ wife, and then the kids, Geoff, Caleb, Sam and Christine, they would be coming down soon, it was hopefully a quiet and small affair which Edward thought was best the circumstances being what they were.

Another Christmas dinner. This one wasn't as formal as the dinner with the Fererra's though in years past there would often be a huge affair organized for business sake if nothing else, and then perhaps a quieter Christmas celebration later on. This year they opted out of the grand party on account of the Attack. She couldn't say she was disappointed really, planning an affair like that took a lot of time, effort, and money, but she was hoping that this quieter affair would meet Edward's expectations. She knew how badly he wanted Sam to feel welcomed, they all wanted that really, and now with the attack everyone was a little shaken. She hoped that a little family bonding would do them all good.

Christine was sitting with her cousin in Sam's room. If there was one thing that couldn't be denied about Samantha it would be her taste. Christine grew up with privilege, and her taste in clothing as well as basic decorating was very sophisticated, but it was nothing compared to Samantha's. Samantha, if she ever needed a job, could work as an interior decorator if not a fashion designer, but then Christine supposed that much of the reason Samantha was good at that sort of thing was the magazine.
It was strange to Christine who was very down to earth, to sit on Sam's bed of dark blue silk, ignoring the chip and dale sofa in the room, and not feel as if she were making some sort of social fauxpaux, but then Sam had insisted as they were wrapping presents and discussing things in general. She smiled at her cousin, "We should probably be getting ready soon."

Christopher pulled into port. Things hadn't gone as well as he had hoped to be quite honest. Andrea was really Andrew, or Andrew was really Andrea. It just confused Christopher, but yet he knew that if he found out that Andrew was really a girl, he wouldn't have let her on the ship, even though Christine was there. He had even locked her in her room and he just told the crew that Andrew was sick when they asked. Christopher couldn't deny the feelings that he had developed for her, but he did try to mask them. There were plenty of times when he just wanted to go in and talk to her for hours on end, but he forced himself not to.
As they had made port, Christopher had given Andrea the address to Edward's, since he would be there for Christmas. He didn't want her to just wander around with a place to go or anything like that. She would be welcomed to come, if she changed her mind. It had hurt him when he found out that she was posing as a boy, but it also hurt him that he ended up locking her up in that room. What else was he supposed to do? He had to keep her safe and that was the only way he could think of. Christopher was more angry with himself, but that was why he gave her the address. He did want to spend more time with her, after all, she knew him like no other woman would. Plus, he couldn't deny that he did care about her.
Apparating outside of Edward's door, Christopher was dressed nicely, as usual, and had two boxes in his hand. He knew that Samantha was going to be there, so he picked her up something special on his journey home as well as a few things that he knew Christine would like. He even picked Andrea up something, but he kept that hidden in his pocket. He would find some way to give it to her, even if he had to owl her.
Christopher raised his hand and opened the door. "Hello," he called. "Anyone home?"

Andrea was more than just a little upset with Christopher, oh no, she was positively livid. First he abandons her at port, then he drags her back on his ship and locks her in her cabin, then he has the absolute gall to invite her to Christmas Dinner with his family? She would hardly look presentable she didn't have anything but her seaman's clothing, her dress having been left behind. Furthermore she could have pushed Christopher off the boat if she ever saw him again she was so angry. Valid she did lie about her identity but she had no other choice! He didn't even listen to her when she tried to explain, in fact he hadn't put more than a few sentences together since he found out who she was...after he had finished yelling at her that was, and then out of no where they dock and he tells her that he's having Christmas dinner at the Montgomery Estates and she's invited? Who the hell did he think he was?
...He was Christopher Montgomery, handsome, dashing, sensitive, caring...although the last few weeks she had other choice adjectives to describe him, but she just didn't know what to do with him, or herself for that matter. Her secret was out, and it wasn't like he'd let her sail with him anymore, she was stuck in England with no real skills except for her seamanship and the skills that she had never forgotten as a lady, but what could she do about that? It wasn't like she could just go home and claim her inheritance, she'd never be able to overcome her Uncle, not without serious muscle on hand.
She sighed and stepped off the ship she had come to love. She was free now, but she didn't know what she would do with that freedom. Her mind was a torrent of wild imaginings. She didn't know how it happened or how she happened to get to the place without being harmed in anyway but she found herself at the Montgomery Estates. She didn't even know how to get to the place, perhaps it was something she remembered in her childhood but sure enough there she was. She couldn't possibly go in, not the way she looked. No, she turned around and started walking, then she started running only she tripped on her own foot and ended up flying through the air neatly scraping her face as she fell back down to earth.

No one had answered Christopher right away, and he was still standing with the door open, he hadn't fully entered the house yet. He was about to, however, he heard something off to his left. Christopher was curious as to what it could the noise could have been. He knew that he was the only one around, right? It could have been Christine outside or something, so he took a few steps back and looked over to his left.
Christopher would have recognized those clothes anywhere. He set down the gifts that he had in his arms on the porch and he walked as fast as he could over to the girl that laid on the ground. Gently, he put his hand on her back. She had came, and to him that was the most important thing, other than her being fine. He had wanted to see her, even though he had acted wrongly to her. Christopher had to find a way to make it up to her.
"Andrea," he asked softly.

She might have made the effort to get up if she didn't hear his footsteps. She would know the sound of his walk anywhere and she cursed mentally. Simply thinking about the confrontation she was about to have sapped the energy from her and she didn't get up. Her heart was still pounding and her adrenaline was running high enough that she didn't feel the pain quite yet, then when he touched her back her mind was far away from the pain.
"I fell." she said stupidly still not looking at him.

He looked her over for any kind of serious scratches, but didn't notice any. "Well, let me help you up," Christopher said to her. "I'm glad that you were came by. They'll be happy to see someone new." He swallowed and looked down at her. "Andrea, I-I'm sorry." He felt the need to go ahead and say something before she decided to run from him. "The way I acted on the way home, I can't say sorry enough. I just, I didn't know what to do, so I just acted with my first impulse, and I shouldn't have." Christopher cast his eyes away from hers for a moment, while he took in a breath. He let his eyes meet hers. "I had told you everything at first. You knew me better than anyone, and then after I found out, I guess I flipped. I was sort of scared, but there is no good reason for that. You took care of me while we were out there," he looked her over quickly, "now can I do the same for you?"

She didn't answer him. It wasn't that easy, he couldn't just apologize and make everything okay or perhaps he could but it all just seemed too easy. She knew what she had done was upsetting to him, she actually expected his punishment, she was surprised when at first he said that he was going to leave her at port, but when he picked her back up and then locked her up she was yes angry but at the same time she knew that he would take care of her through his anger. Despite all that his quick change of heart now that they were back in England was throwing her off balance and making her feel more weak than she was, making her feel that she was entitled but she didn't like feeling that way.
"I don't need to be taken care of." she told him stepping away from him and brushing herself off, just then realizing how much her body ached and after pushing away from him she couldn't really hold herself up and started to fall again.

He knew that his apologizing wouldn't win her back over so quickly, however it did make him feel just a fraction better that he did. Christopher knew that she would stand up and attempt to be independent, and he supposed that was why he was drawn to her. She was daring, caring, and strong willed.
Once she started to back away, he noticed that she couldn't really stay up. Despite him thinking that she would fight against him, Christopher took a step forward and put his arm around her. "Come on. We can get you cleaned up. If you don't want me to do it, I'm sure that Christine would." He hadn't told Christine of Andrea actually being Andrew. He hadn't told anyone.

She hated that she couldn't stand on her own two feet and that defiance shined brightly in her eyes as she allowed him to help her into the house, her attention was so wrapped up on his features however that she completely missed a step and nearly toppled into the grand foyer which caused her to tighten her hold on him.
So contrary to her natural grace on a ship she was now wobbling all over the place she caught her breath and couldn't help how breathy her next statement was, "I don't seem to have gotten my land legs yet..."

Christopher hadn't shaven and he was starting to look a little rugged, despite him being dressed nicely. His own hold on her tightened as she almost fell. A smile fell across his face. "You will shortly." He paused for a moment, still holding on to her with one arm. Using his other arm, he picked up the boxes he left when he ran out. He set them on a table in the foyer, and then led her toward the stairs.
"I'm sure that Christine is here, and I'm sure that she wouldn't mind lending a few clothes for you." Once he stopped at the stairs, he paused and looked at her. "Do you want me to just carry you up?"

She gave him a look worth a thousand words. He wasn't off the hook for his behavior toward her, and just a moment ago she had been denying his help all together. Pride would have made her climb each and every step no matter what it did to her battered body. Just now looking at the massive grand staircase she was inwardly cringing and praying for relief, no she did not want him to carry her up the stairs that she shouldn't be going up in the first place. She shouldn't be staying for dinner, she had only come here to tell him her mind and then leave, but Merlin did a meal sound good right now, as did being clean and wearing soft clothes...oh the temptation.
Still her look was positively mutinous. Then she heard the voices. Christine and Sam were at the top of the staircase down the hall, they hadn't seen Andrea yet, but Andrea could just imagine how pretty the two girls looked and as she glanced down she cringed and sent Chris a different look, one that asked for help, she didn't want to have her first impression be that of a hoyden cabinboy.

He was going to do whatever he could so she would forgive him. The look Andrea gave him made his heart ache. "I have a better idea." There were three boxes on the table where he laid them. Christopher had hoped that Andrea would show up so that he could give her both gifts. He sighed and picked up the box on the bottom and carried both her and the box to a bathroom on the opposite end of the hall.
"I need you to go ahead and open this. Its yours. It'll be an early gift and it'll help out. Once you go into the bathroom, there are rags and towels underneath the sink. Go ahead and take a shower, or whatever you would like. Don't take too terribly long however. As for drying your hair, I can do that whenever you are finished if you need me to. Just do what you need to. I'm going to go talk to Christine for a few. Does that sound alright to you?"

James had given Lilian a kiss, and told her how absolutely beautiful she looked, before going ahead of her to the dining room.
Christmas, this year, felt much more subdued, and rightly so. But it didn't feel right for them, and he was constantly thinking about his daughter. Merlin, he was so worried about her he couldn't see straight sometimes.
"Evening, Edward," he said, finding his brother. He just wanted to talk to him alone for a few minutes before the rest of the family came down.

Andrea let him direct her quietly grateful that he was allowing her this reprieve and that she didn't have to face Christine or any of the other Montgomery's looking the way she did. Going into the Room Christopher provided for her she took the gift nodding and moved for the shower, indeed she needed to wash off and clean up.

"James" Edward smiled welcoming his younger brother into the room. "I take it Lillian's getting ready." he nodded. It was rare to see James without his wife, moreso now because of the attack but in either case he didn't mind seeing his brother alone.
He went to the side and poured them both a glass of brandy then handed on of the glasses to his brother.

"Yes, she is," James said. "As I hope Christine is, though I rather imagine she's taking refuge in Geoffrey's room. And Samantha?"
He took the glass with a nod. "One of the house elves also mentioned that Christopher is here with a guest... which just leaves Anthony unaccounted for." He glanced up at this, looking for Edward's reaction.
In all honesty, he wasn't expecting to see their youngest brother tonight, and it bothered him more than he was willing to admit.

Once Andrea disappeared, Christopher headed toward the stairs, hoping that he would avoid his brothers at the moment. Upon seeing Christine and Samantha, a huge smile spread across his face, but he put a finger to his lips. He didn't want James to know that he was there yet. It was going to be a surprise that he was here.
"Chrissy," he said walking up to her.

He nodded, "Sheryl and Caleb too were getting ready last I checked."
All good news except for Anthony. He sighed, " I just don't understand that boy." he grumbled. Though it wasn't like he didn't expect this after their last altercation. Yes he wanted Anthony home so Samantha would have all of her uncles by her, but at the same time he missed his younger brother, he worried about him, and though he hated to admit it there were some pockets that Edward didn't have a reach in.
