Watching her reaction, it just confirmed his thoughts. He couldn't believe that they had finally ended up in the same place. His prayers of finding her had finally been answered, and for that he was beyond grateful. However, now that he found her, he wasn't sure what to do exactly.
As Sas handed him a bracelet, he looked down at it. It was the one that he made her and it was the time that he promised her that if anything happened to them he would always find her. Krushik's heart seemed to have fallen through his stomach.
"Mita," he said raising his eyes to meet hers. A slow smile started to appear on his face as he moved to put his arms around her in a hug.

She heard that nickname, the one no one called her since he left, and she nodded, her eyes wide in disbelief.
"It really is you," Sas breathed, her own arms wrapping around him as he came closer, hugging her, and she felt like every battle she'd fought to find him just ended. It was over now... she had him back. "I didn't think I'd ever find you again," she admitted.
She wanted to cry. They were just kids when he promised he'd come back for her, and she would have forgiven him if he'd forgotten or stopped looking. Afterall, she was just some girl he knew once. She held on to him tighter.

Krushik held Sas close to him. After many years of searching, she just happened to show up in his life, just like she had whenever they were kids.
"I never gave up," he whispered to her. "I went and looked for you whenever I could. Even in the summers during school. I never found any trace of you, but I didn't stop because I promised." Krushik continued to hold onto her, part of him scared that if he let her go she'd disappear again. "I've missed you."

"I waited," Sas said, in case he doubted her. "I waited for so long... and the last anyone knew, you were in London, and I had to try."
It tore at her that she could have missed him, but fate had other plans. It was more than just a coincidence that they ended up working in the very same place after so many years.
She finally started to cry when he said he missed her, and she returned the sentiment. "I've missed you, too. So much."
She finally pulled back and put her hands on his shoulders, letting herself smile. "Look at you... You've grown up so much."

"I'm proud of you," he said as he closed his eyes while he hugged her. Krushik still couldn't believe that they happened to end up in the same place, let alone that he was the one that was being a mentor to her.
As she started to cry, he felt the old heart swelling moment. "Hey, this time you don't have to worry about missing me, because I don't plan on getting anywhere. I hope you stay for awhile here. If you want, you can even stay with me. The place is room enough for two people." Krushik was going to do his best to try to provide for her like he had before.
Once she pulled back, a smile spread across his face as well. "Look at me," he asked reaching up and wiping a few tears away that stained her cheeks, "Look at you! You've grown up very beautifully."

He had to be a saint or something, welcoming her back so easily. Not that she wouldn't have done the same, but it had been so long and he was offerring her a place to stay with him and everything.
When he called her beautiful, she smiled and moved forward, hugging him again. "Who knew we'd both make such good looking adults, hm? Merlin, what are the odds...." How did they end up working in the same place? She could have stayed in India, chosen another department, gone anywhere else in the world and never found him.
"I've been renting a little apartment in London... but it's little and not the nicest place around."

"At dinner, you must tell me everything that has happened," he said. He wanted to catch up with her and maybe have things like they used to be. Both of them had waited so long.
Krushik laughed. "My mum would tell you that she wouldn't have doubted what we ended up looking like." He pushed hair behind her ear as he searched her face. "Its a wonder how we ended up running into each other like this. Its sort of like how we met before, except this time we're older and at work. I searched almost all of India for you. I went back to where we used to live all the time to see if you had ever been by there. I even had people keep an eye out for you when I wasn't there. Who would have thought that we would be brought together again like this?" He smiled.
"Well, I think that you should still come stay with me. I have an apartment in London too, but its more than likely a little more spacious than yours and I think that you would like it."

Sas shook her head. All of this was so unbelievable, in extremely gratifying ways. It felt so good to be in his arms again, like he had never left her, and no time at all passed between them.
"I stayed there for so long, hoping you'd come back by. We must have just missed each other. I ran into someone who said they could help... I was young, I didn't know any better, and I left Mumbai. But I swear I never stopped waiting for you."
He still wanted her to come live with him, and she almost laughed. "You don't have a wife or a girlfriend that will mind, do you?"

"I couldn't ever stop looking for you. I made a promise that I intended to keep." Krushik couldn't describe how good it felt to have found Sasmita. She just seemed to have fallen into his lap, so to speak, just as she did before. "Its alright that you left. We ended up finally running into each other and that is what is important."
He shook his head at the mention of a wife or girlfriend. "No, I have neither. Between working all the time here and going to find you, I never slowed down to have a girlfriend. I didn't care to have one, because I wanted you to return."

Sas just smiled, feeling like she was on the edge of crying again. "I just can't believe it's really you," she said, and she wondered how they were supposed to work at all today. They had years to catch up on. Would it be terrible if she asked him to take the day off so they could talk?
For some selfish reason, she was glad to hear that he was single. They barely knew each other anymore, but with their story, what little girl wouldn't have hoped this might end as a love story? At least they would have the chance.
"I want to know everything. Everything that happened since you moved away."

As the potion brewed, Krushik knew that he could multi-task. That was something that he would be good at. Once he finished the potion, he could go to lunch with her and possibly take the rest of the day off. It wasn't like they needed him today, he was just messing around in the lab.
"Well, after father moved us, things were boring. There weren't really any kids to play with. The ones that were there were sort of mean. Once I turned old enough, my parents sent me to magic school. Nothing really interesting happened there. I wrote you tons of letters and had my owl send them to where I thought you were, but I don't think they ever reached you. School went by pretty quickly actually, but I always asked my parents if they ever heard anything from you or anything about you. There wasn't ever any luck. I thought that after I graduated that I would go back to India and look for you."
Krushik gave a smile. "I decided that I wanted to work in this department doing something. I was really good in potions, and I wanted to continue with that. Training didn't last that long, and I started to work here making different potions. Several different tranquilizers for different animals and such. But, after graduation, as a gift my parents let me go back to India to look for you. I spent at least a week there. Whenever I came back, I had an apartment waiting on me. My parents bought for me. I started saving up all kinds of money and that's how I was able to go back to India at least one week out of the month to look for you."
He sighed. "Nothing else has happened to be honest, other than you coming back." He looked to the potion and added a few more ingredients before stirring it and then decided to let it brew a little longer. "Its your turn now."

It meant the world to her that his graduation gift had been the chance to come back and look for her. All this time she was worried that he'd forgotten her. She wouldn't have blamed him. They'd been just children, and his parents only agreed to take her in because Krushik begged. They decided not to bring her to London.
"I got a couple of the letters, in the beginning. I still have them," she said, running a hand through her hair, the potion completely forgotten about in her mind. How could she even think about it?
"Then I left India... there was this man that came and took a few of us from the streets and took us South. He promised to help us. I only stayed for a little while, a couple of years until I was old enough to know better. Then I came back, and stayed for a while, and then the chance to come to London came up... and I thought it was a sign that I'd find you, and I at least had to look."
She left out a lot of the details of her life. She'd been homeless, and a child, afterall. But she was here now, and she found him, and that's all that mattered.

"I did beg my parents to bring you along, but they said they weren't sure if you would go along with us and that kind of thing. Although, I was determined to see you again. I can't tell you how relieved I am that you did chose to come here. I would have looked for however long it took me to find you." The thought of having a girlfriend never crossed his mind. He made a promise to his best friend, and he was going to keep that promise.
Krushik confidently reached up and brushed some hair away from her forhead. "I tell you what. After lunch, we'll take the rest of the day off and do whatever."

Sas shook her head, mostly out of disbelief. "I can't believe you kept looking. I really thought you would have given up. We were both so young, and you had a whole new country here to explore..." there were still tears in her eyes. She looked for Krushik for years. 10, at least, and she found him, completely by chance.
"I like that idea," she told him, looking at the clock. Lunch was a couple of hours away, and her mind was hardly on working, but she could concentrate and be patient.
She smiled and shook her head again. She said it once, but he stunned her. "You look so good."

"I never go back on a promise," he said. "As for exploring, I haven't really gone anywhere except here and India. I got hooked working in the lab, and so I could have those days off to return to India, I've worked all the time. The only days I've ever taken off was to go back."
Krushik smiled. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to stop. "And we can go do whatever you want after we eat. Its all up to you." He looked back to his potion and dipped a little bit out of the small caldron.
"I don't look near as good as you do, that's a fact." He gave her the playful look he had always given her whenever they were little. "But thank you. I can't believe how much you've grown, but of course its in a good way..."

Sas shook her head a little, so much in awe of him. They'd been just children the last time they saw each other, and after all those years of looking, they just happened to find each other? It was a miracle.
"I came here for you, you know. To London, I mean. I didn't even know if you would remember me, but I thought that maybe I could find you. I don't even know what to do now that I have."
She handed him another vial under the pretense of trying to be helpful, but her heart was practically beating out of her chest and she couldn't concentrate on anything but him.

"I couldn't ever forget you Mita. You left a lasting impression and you were my best friend. We did pretty much everything together as kids. You've been the closest person to me and you still are." Krushik smiled and took the vial she offered. He mixed the potion again and then started to fill an empty vial with his potion.
"We can start back where we left off. I'm not going to leave you again, that's for certain." He leaned against the counter once the vial was filled. "I'm glad that you came to look for me because if you didn't, well who knows how long it would it have took us to find each other?" It was strange how everything seemed to feel natural and easy to have fell back into place but he wasn't going to complain about it.

Sasmita was still in shock that she had found Krushik- everywhere she had looked, and as often as he said he came back to India for her- and they ran into each other by chance. Or fate, if she were to look at it that way. Or maybe they both knew, deep down, what path to take to find each other, and that's how they both came to the Ministry.
Sas couldn't help it; she started to cry. No matter how hard she looked for him, she always sort of figured she would never find him. This was surreal and overwhelming and so wonderfully perfect.
She wiped her eyes, hoping he wouldn't notice her tears but already knowing better.
