"And yes, we can start working on the potion I was telling you about earlier," he said opening the door back toward his office for her. "Unless of course you want to know about some other potion, then I could show you that one. You're the one learning today, and I will try to teach you whatever I know." Krushik had a look on his face that said that he was excited to be able to spread what he knew.
"What exactly are you wanting to do in the department?"

"Well, I'd like to do field work... rescues and the like, but really, I'm being open minded. Who knows, maybe I'll find a love for lab work," Sas said with a smile directed at him. He was beng awfully kind to her. She heard horror stories about how interns were treated, but he was kind and patient, and it put her immidiately at ease.
"Believe me, I'm more than happy to learn anything you're willing to teach. That's why I'm here."

"I spend most of my time in the lab," admitted Krushik. "A few people told me that I should get out more, but its kind of hard when you have something you like and want to keep on until you finish." He gave a small chuckle. The majority of his time was spent in the lab. He was usually one of the first people in the office, and one of the last to leave. Once he got home, he still sort of worked by figuring out equations and what would be best if he added. Krushik had to occupy his time some how or another. He had gone back to to his first home, to see if he could find his friend, but she had left, and it was hard enough to get that information.
So now, he poured himself into his work. He was still going to continue looking, that wasn't in question, but for right now, he was going to stay with his work. He made sure that the people would let him know if they saw her again. Then the thought occurred to him that he probably wouldn't even really recognize her. After all, it had been years since he seen her. He still had a few pictures of them together that his parents took. A couple were even sitting around his apartment. One on the end table by the couch, another one was hanging up. Then there was one that he kept with him in his wallet, in hopes that it would be some kind of good luck charm that he would find her.
"There's nothing wrong with field work. I do some from time to time. And that's a good answer by the way. I think that you'll do just fine here." He smiled at her and then opened the door to the lab. "After you," Krushik said holding the door open for her. "I'll even let you put in ingredients if you like, or you could give me your opinion if you think that it would work or not, or if I should add anything."

"I understand that," Sas said, watching him intently as he spoke. He spoke with passion and he meant every word. He believed in what he did, and she had to respect that.
And he reminded her so much of him. Sas had one photo. She had more or less been left on the streets when he and his family moved, and she didn't have very much with her. But she had one photograph of them. It was well worn and had creases in it now, but she never minded. She could still make out the faces. She had a bracelette he had given her, which she never took off, and the clothes on her back. She had been forced to make her way from there, and she didn't think she turned out too bad.
"I think everyone needs something in their life that they keep working at. Something to fight for. I don't know how well I'll be able to help you, but if I have any ideas, I will let you know," she said, stepping inside the lab in front of him, and turning to wait for him.

Something to fight for. Krushik did have things to fight for, what he did and who he was looking for. He wasn't going to give up trying to find her. Honestly, he didn't care how long that was going to be, but he was going to find her somehow or another.
"You're a smart girl and you catch on quickly. I'm sure that you will be able to help me more than you think." Krushik smiled again. He closed the door behind them and walked over to the lab table. "If you want, you can take the chair, or you can stand. I usually just stand, but that's just me."

"I'll sit for a bit," She replied, watching him. She didn't know him well enough yet to tell him that he reminded her of someone she knew, or she would have. Even down to the way he walked.
"I'll watch, just until I catch on. Let me know what I can do."

Krushik walked over to the shelves and picked up a few ingredients. He spread them out in front of him on the counter. "Making things has always been my most favorite thing to do," he confessed, "even as a kid I would make things. Most of the time, I thought making homemade items were better than just store bought." He gave a laugh. "Once, my mum thought I was going to blow up the kitchen because one of the potions sort of exploded."
He shook his head at the memory and still had a light smile on his face. Krushik reached over to a cabinet and pulled out the small cauldron he had. He never made his potions in a huge cauldron, just in case it didn't work and he had to get rid of it. Looking over his notes, he started to carefully add a few more ingredients. "The key thing is to know the properties of whatever ingredients you are using. Of course, right now is just experimentation and a little hope of it doesn't explode from adding to little or to much of something."

Sas was drawn in by the short story he told. He reminded her so much of that boy from her childhood. He'd always made things for her. He wa fascinating to her, and probably because he reminded her so much of him. She missed him so much.
"One of my friends when I was a kid used to try and make love potions and he always got me to try them, somehow. Maybe it's a common trait among little boys?"
She leaned forward to watch him add ingrediants, taking note of what he was adding and how much. If there was something she didn't recognize, she'd ask, but was very quiet and attentive, so she wouldn't distract him.

One of her friends used to make love potions for her? That was quite a coincidence, considering he did the exact same. "Maybe all little boys tried to get their little girl friends to try a love potion that they made. I remember doing something like that. Of course, I would always claim that it worked, but then when I found out it didn't, I was always disappointed so I would make a bracelet for my friend instead." Krushik laughed before returning his focus on his potion.
Once he was satisfied with what he had so far, he stirred it a little, then looked to Sas. "I should let that brew for a little bit, just so everything mixes in well and then start adding a little more after it goes for a little while." Krushik cleared his throat. "So, if you don't mind me asking, what drew you to England? Let alone this department?"

Sasmita's smile faded when he told her about making a bracelette for his friend instead. There had been a lot of coincidences so far, but she knew... most little boys didn't do that. What were the odds? Under the table, she pulled her sleeve over her hand more, hiding the bracelette she never took off, and her eyes were on his entirely. It had to be him... didn't it?
"I... uhm... I came to London because I have family here," she said, which was a lie... unless this really was her friend. He was the only family she had ever known. "Or at least I thought I did, but it seems they've left."
Why was she lying? She should say something, but she was almost terrified to. What if he'd moved on, or forgotten her entirely? What if all she was to him anymore was a memory of some girl he'd made a bracelet for?
"And sometimes I think animals just deserve the help more than people do."

The way her eyes were, it made him believe that she was lying. Besides, why would there be an 'uhm' unless she was thinking? "Why would your family leave you if you were coming here? It seems a little strange that they wouldn't let you know that they were leaving if you were coming here."
Krushik never looked away from people's eyes because it sometime seemed to give something away about them. Sometimes their eyes showed confidence, fear, uncertainity. Sas' seemed to show that she was possibly a little uncertain about something, but he didn't know what.
"I suppose you're right on that one. Sometimes animals do." Krushik gave a small shrug. "Oh, just to let you know ahead of time, I'm supposed to be leaving in a few days so you might be following someone else, unless you want to do my work while I'm gone. I have this thing where I always go back to India for a day or two at least once a month if not that, then every two months. Its getting about that time again."

"It's not really like that," Sas replied. "I haven't seen them in a very long time, and they didn't know I was coming." At least all of that was true. She'd come to find him, and now that she thought about it, this couldn't be him. He would have recognized her by now, wouldn't he?
She was glad for the change in topic, and her eyes met his again. "Oh? Can I ask why you go back so often?" It was really none of her business, and she couldn't blame him if he didn't tell her. But India was home to her too, and she was just curious what drew him back.
Personally, home or not, she didn't think she would ever go back. There was nothing left for her there anymore.

"So you were maybe looking to surprise them or something?"
Sas did look awfully familiar; however, Krushik didn't want to ask her about her past and it not be her at all. Besides, if it was really her she would have recognized him. Or at least he thought she would have.
"I go back often because I have family, well actually a friend, there or they were there. I've been looking for awhile now and every time I go, I don't find anything. No one knows anything. But I'm hoping one day that I do end up being successful and find my friend." Krushik gave a smile. "We ended up getting separated and I made a promise to come back."
He wasn't sure why he just openly told her his reasons. It just felt that he had known her for awhile already, and besides who was she going to go tell? The department already knew that he took off a few days to go back.

"Yeah," Sas nodded. "I guess I was hoping to surprise them." Or hoping at least just to find him.
"That's sweet, going back," she said, then, not realizing he never said if he was looking for a girl or a boy, she added, "But I don't think you'll find her. India's a big place, and no one ever seems to stay for very long. Your friend's probably already moved on to somewhere else. Everyone does, eventually."

"Hey, maybe you'll get lucky," he offered. "Maybe they haven't left yet. Maybe you just haven't found them, because they're waiting for you."
Not registering what she said at first, Krushik shrugged. "Although, I can't give up. I have people looking through India for her, but it never hurts that I go look." Finally, it clicked that Sas had said 'her'. "Wait a minute. You said 'her'. I never said if it was a girl or boy. How do you know that its a girl I'm looking for?" He didn't look angry, only curious.

He had a point. Should she have waited in India? But then, what if this really was him? Then hadn't she done a good thing by coming to look for him?
She shrugged. "Similar story. And I've heard it a few times, from others. Everyone seems to have someone from their past they're looking for, and it always ends up being a love story, doesn't it? I guess it was just a lucky guess."
Then, wondering if she could get some kind of reaction from him, she said, "I waited in India a long time for someone to find me. Listen... I'm new in town and don't really know anyone... why don;t you let me take you to dinner tonight and you can tell me about this girl?"

Krushik was still wondering about the new girl. It just didn't make any sense, or maybe it made perfect sense. She as new in town and India. The girl reminded him so much of the girl he liked to call Sassy Lali or just Mita.
His face fell when she said that she waited in India for a long time. Could it be? It made perfect sense if it was. After all, the looks, being in India for a while, looking for someone. That had to mean something right? Just two people who happened to be looking for someone that they lost just didn't meet up like this.
"Well, I can take you to dinner since I happen to know a few good places to go. Then maybe you could just pretend you're taking me?" Krushik gave her a wide smile, one similar to the would he used to give his friend when they were little. "I even have a picture of her I can show to you if you're interested."

Sas laughed. "All right, I suppose I'll be happy with just pretending I'm taking you out."
Her breath caught in her throat a little as he said he had a picture of the girl. She'd only ever had one photo taken of her, and it was one of the few posessions that she treasured. It was of her and her friend from Indian, and currently framed on her nightstand.
What if the picture he showed her was the same one?
"Of course I'm interested to see the photo," she said. "You've got me curious about this girl now."

Her laugh. It was familiar. Painfully familiar. It was starting to make sense, however he had to show her the picture. Her reactions would tell him everything.
Krushik gave her a wide smile. "I always keep the picture with me. Its just something I'm hoping that will bring me good luck one day. Its a little folded, but you can still make out the picture fairly well." He reached in his pocket and pulled out his wallet.
Inside, he reached behind the muggle money he kept just in case he needed it and pulled out the folded picture. He slowly handed it to her. "Here you go. This is the girl that I've been looking for for awhile now."

Sas slowly reached out for the picture, almost scared. She didn't know if she wanted it to be that picture or not. Could it be, that after years of looking for each other, they finally found each other? How could it be that they both would have ended up working in the same place?
Slowly, she unfolded the picture and bit her lip. It was a little less faded than hers, but it was definitely the same photo. She didn't know how to react. She almost wanted to hand the photo back and wish him luck.
Keeping her eyes on the photo for a moment longer, she took her bracelet off and handed it to him, her eyes then lifting to meet his. After all this time... he remembered her.
